  1. That'll do it!

If she can't get the letter, pay check stubs will be good enough.

I know easier said than done, relax! You're almost there! desismileys_3409.gif

Instead of which letter? Letter from employer or bank letter? I'm basically at that stage now and I'm a bit confused with question 8. Does the applicant's name go there also? Is he considered a dependent?

  2. I have a question about item 2 and item 8.

Item 2 - Is probably a stupid question, but I want to be absolutely sure not to leave any information out. My co-sponsor is a US citizen by birth so does this information stay blank or does he put his age and date of birth where it asks the date of when he started residing in the US?? I don't know if that makes any sense.

Item 8 - Does the person being sponsored/visa applicant's information go here? or is this pertaining to other dependents?

  3. Hi all,

I have a question regarding the affidavit of support (1 134). what does my co sponsor answer to question no 10 and 11. Does the Co-Sponsor have to answer the question 10 and 11 or only the petioner have to answer.

Your quick responce will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

The co-sponsor answers question 10 if they are petitioning a visa for another person. In other words if they filed a visa for someone else. This other person's details goes here. If they have not petitioned for anyone else then write "none". Question 11 asks if the person plans to give a bond or deposit for the applicant/alien. Check "do not intend" if your co-sponsor will not give a deposit to the applicant. As long as your co-sponsor makes 125% for the three of you, you do not need to show a bond or anything else, unless specifically asked.

  4. The doctor conducting medical examinations in Sydney is booked two months in advanced. Due to this we scheduled my husbands medical examination ahead of time. Its on Friday, we just got our NOA2 approval notice (text) yesterday. What do we need for my husband to continue with the scheduled medical exam? A case number? A letter? :help:

No need to worry. Your fiance can have the medical exam without a case number. Just make sure to send everything else they require. My fiance took his medical exam in Sydney with Dr. Waks and without a case number in Feb. and we are still waiting for it but we just received the letter of approval last week! :-D Anyway, when your fiance is at the appointment just let the admin assistant know that you are expecting it any day now and will call them as soon as you receive it. They will hold on to the medical results until you call in with the case number and then they will send it to the embassy.

By the way, you need to send them an email with the following information asap! If you have not sent this information already they can cancel your appointment. So send it now and call them to make sure they received it!

Type of Visa: Non-immigrant (K-1 Fiance Visa)

    Home Address: XXXXXX

    Telephone Number: XXXXXXX

    Email Address: XXXXXXX

Have you every lived overseas for more than 12 months? XXXXXXX

Have you contacted the US Consulate in Sydney? Yes

  5. Is there a reason you haven't filed an income tax return in the U.S. while you were living in Australia? As a USC, you're still required to file if you make the more than the standard deduction amount, even if you don't owe any taxes. See more here: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=250788,00.html

Thanks for the information. I have not filed my income in Australia yet since this would be for 2011 fiscal year which has not ended and plan to work when I return in a few weeks. For the others years, I didn't make much and was traveling most of the time so there was no need to file my taxes.

This is all very confusing to me. Anyway, If I show I have $20,000 in assets and a co-sponsor, do you think that would suffice for 125% of the US poverty guidelines?

  6. I recently received my NOA2! And I have a few questions regarding what's acceptable for finances covering 125% of the poverty line. I have not lived in the States for the last three years therefore do not have any recent tax returns to show. I can show my 2009 tax return but I don't know if that would be too old. I also have savings but they are all overseas. Basically all my finances are not in the US. I have a total savings of $20,000. I also have a tax return I will be collecting from the Australian government which is where I am currently living with my fiance and where we are petitioning. My tax return will total to $8,000. Aside from that my fiance also has finances in Brazil, where he is from. For example, he owns a house. Could that be used as well??? I read somewhere that only a percentage of the beneficiary's finance are credited to the 125% of the US poverty line requirement, so it might be more trouble than it's worth. I'm hoping my finances would be enough!

Furthermore, I am in the process of interviewing with my previous employer in the US but have not been offered the job as of yet. Therefore, I would not be able to get a letter of employment anytime soon. Would that be a problem?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  7. I think you are misunderstanding. I think that the date you are trying to use is the date that your NOA2 was approved. Take the time to review the K-1 flow chart (link) carefully next to step 5 for the phone number of the National Visa Center (NVC). NVC is where your approved K-1 documents go before going to the consulate or embassy of where your fiance lives. Call NVC about a week or two after you received your NOA2. You can inquire about the date they received your case document and what date was it shipped to the designated embassy or consulate. Once you have the date it was shipped then you can use the DHL site.

I hope this clarifies everything for you.

    Good luck

It really does. Thank so much!

  8. I found the way. W00t!!! W00t!!! This VJ community is so awesome.

Looks like the consulate received my case papers already.

    My DHL tracking results (link)

    Follow these instructions carefully. (link)

Note - A key part of the instructions was updated. It appears they have changed the formatting. Formatted as EXP05JUN2009A works up until June 5th. Formatted as EXP 09 JUN 2009A works for the dates after that. You will know what I am talking about after you read all the instructions to follow.

    So happy now.

I received an email stated we were approved on 15 March however when I search Tracking Number EXP15MAR2012A or any other date it comes up with no search results. I'm definitely doing something wrong. Can someone please help? I'd really like to know if my Notice of Approval was received by the Embassy yet.

  9. btw since im not the riches person in the world i didnt want to spend money on an lawyer

so i was thinking of using a visa consultant and found

    http://www.filipinafianceevisa.com/index.php/contact-us.html

anyone have experience with them?? thanks

Honestly the process seems more difficult than it is. It is more annoying than anything but there really is no need for a lawyer or consultant. I'm not familiar with any visa consultants but they really are unnecessary and a waste of money, unless you don't want to bother doing the paper work yourself.

  10. i heard that after the nvc gets the file and sends it on to the embassy but before you receive writen conformation of the embassy receiving it that you can start the process by calling for your mnl number from the nvc and using it to do your online paper work like the156 k156 157 but so far that is all i herard was wondering if that where true because it wont be long and i will be going through this as well anyone out there know

    What's an mnl???

  11. Welcome to the forum!

You bring up an interesting point..... there is a wealth of information on this site, take the opportunity to become familiar the website features and with the vast quantity of information that has been collected here by previous visa journey travelers.

    Good luck.

    YMMV.

    Thanks everyone!!!

  12. For the K1 a lot of stuff is country dependant. SO in that vein.

YES it needs to be a police checks with fingerprints.

As to the DS-230. Once you've received P3 then you can send DS-230, not before. Reason being they won't have your file so it's just junk mail to them.

Also, just to confirm you were divorced prior to filing the K1 correct? Not just having filed for divorce, but the divorce was final before you filed?

Yes, I was divorced prior to filing. Thanks for the info guys!

  13. Hi Everyone,

I just joined vj but have been following it for quite some time. This is a great website..really helpful information! Anyway, I have been sent a RFE for my divorce decree from my previous marriage. I had sent an intent to divorce which I erroneously thought would be acceptable but is not. Anyway, I'm sending my divorce decree today and would like to know if I can send the DS-230 forms to the embassy in anticipation of speeding the process a bit so when I do get a letter of approval the embassy will already have my DS-230 forms.

On another note, are the fingerprints required for the police report? I've read different things regarding whether they are required or not.

Btw, I will be updating my timeline very soon...I just registered literally a few minutes ago! :)
