  1. Hi

I searched for the answer to this question and couldn't find anything.

I have question for those who have received their 10 Yr Green Card.

My husband and I started our jouney back in 2005 with the K-1.

We never had a problem during our immigration process.

Now that I have a 10 year Green Card my question is this....

Do we really need to keep allllll the paper work that goes with K-1, Adjust Status, Remove Conditions blah blah etc....???????

Have any of your garbaged things like DS 156 and "packet 3" etc.

I would love to be able to throw that away and use the space for something more desirable.

Let me know if any of you think tossing this stuff away is a bad idea

    Thanks a bunch

  2. Thanks Everyone

It's funny how when you first get the K-1 and you're told you cannot leave the United States until you have the Green Card, or the I-551 stamp after an AOS approved interview or pay the fee for advance parole... most of us are fine and dandy with that since we finally get to be with our American sweetheart, but when you get wind of having that almight GC and know that you can travel back home and visit friends and family then return to your new home in the USA without blink, we're all geared up packing our luggage, booking our flights, gassing our vehicles while we rip open that envelope with that hard piece of plastic

God Bless to everyone and thank you so much for all your kind words and wisdom

  3. FINALLY the wait is over. Today on April 10 2006- 14 days exactly after my March 27 2006 interview I hold the Green Card in my hand. It has all the correct information no mistakes..I look forward to the drive across the border with Aaron and having Easter dinner with my family!! Then coming back and really feeling like I can live life normally here in the United States. Good Luck to everyone going through the waiting game. :D

  4. Your cousin will get into serious trouble if he works without an employment authorization card. At his AOS interview they will ask him if he is/has been employed. If he did indeed work ( under the table and not having taxes taken out etc) working before having the EAD card would put a big huge dent in his AOS dreams.

There have been people who have did as little as volunteer and somehow it was found out and they had no proof that showed they were not being paid.

In Laymens terms. Can your cousin work? Yes I am sure he is physcially and mentally capable of holding down a job, however MAY he work??? NO NO NO until he gets the EAD card with his fingerprint and his face and smile the answer is NOPE!! Of course if he got his Green card that trumps out everything :)

  5. I wrote this in another thread by mistake..

Question I had my interview in Cleveland, OH on March 27. I was approved and the officer said to expect the Green Card in the mail within 2 weeks. I just went online now and checked out my case and it says on March 30 the WELCOME letter was mailed out. My husband and I wondering how long after the letter is sent does someone wait for the Green card. Also why send them seperately? Is this a security feature? Thanks to anyone with an answer

  6. Congratulations to you

  7. It would be nice if the officers at the consulates followed the same guidelines for all K1 visas. When I went for my interview at consulate in Montréal, we had a co-sponser, but they never gave it a glance. In fact the looked soley at my (then fiancés) affidavit only. They whole interview took 5 minutes. We even said to them " Do you not want to see the stuff from the co-sponser?" They said no we looked at his I-134 and that's good enough. Meanwhile it was under 125% poverty level. Even if they didn't want to look at it, we prepared one and it was in the file.. I just don't understand how consulates can be so inconsistant about what they will accept and not accept. I'm glad our process has gone smoothly for us without any bumps.
