  2. So, after I had called they put a referral (status) request in the system. Today, I got an email from National Benefits Center that <quote> Recently you notified USCIS concerning your pending Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. Systems show that your application has not been adjudicated and is still pending at your local USCIS Field Office. Therefore, we are unable to respond to your request. We request that you schedule an InfoPass appointment at www.uscis.gov to discuss your pending application with your local USCIS Field Office.

Please remember that this is not an interview, it is merely a pass to enter your local USCIS Field Office to discuss the status of your pending Form N-400, Application for Naturalization filed with USCIS. You are advised to take this letter with you to your InfoPass appointment. <unquote>

Is my paperwork lost? If so, do I fill forms and print and take them with me? Will they give me an interview date? For when? Or, why would they want to see me?

Any insight would help me prepare for what's to come.

First of all sorry to hear about your experience.

I had the exact same experience but instead of the N-400, what they did the same to me was my I751 (ROC) application. No response for a while, told 60 days then again nothing.

I suggest you get hold of your congressman and seek assistance ASAP. Usually a prolonged and excused response possibly indicates that they have LOST your application but don't want to admit they did.

Good luck! Sometimes you have to push them.

  3. After filing in March 2012, I heard nothing for about 2 months. So, called the USCIS number and they requested an update. I received a letter around 17 June (+-3) dated 7 June that I should receive an interview notice in 60 days. If not, I should make an appointment though INFOPASS and go into the local office. Is this normal? (by the way, fingerprints were not required because I had them done for an I-131 less than a year ago).

It went past 60 days and I called again. They put another request in and I was told they would get back to me around 21 August. I am overseas and don't want to fly into simply to request an interview. Which could take, I don't know how long. Flying in for requesting an interview, then the interview then the nat. ceremony is a lot of flying.

Also, I am sure i will miss the august naturalization date. Does anyone know being overseas is criteria to get into the 75 person courthouse ceremony in LA? How does one qualify for that?

LA USCIS nat. ceremony schedule on 23 August I will not make. I will keep my fingers crossed for 21 September.

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  4. Hello BethandBilly,

I am a DoD Contractor Spouse. I have an overseas dependent ID. I am going through the expedited naturalization process.

Should I ask the the Los Angeles USCIS office before flying or when I am there, for quicker oath ceremony (same day oath).

I will definitely research this more. I was going crazy thinking I would have to wait for up to 2 months before I get the oath ceremony letter!

How are you affiliated with the military overseas, are you military, GS or contractor? If you are one of the above and know your dates of arrival in the US, you may be able to request the date of your interview and in your request you can also ask for same day Oath. But really without knowing your full circumstances its really not possible to give you more accurate info.

  5. I am affiliated with military overseas and due to travel reasons I am asking the following question to plan my trip. Can anyone help answer my questions? Details of my case can be extracted and used for tracking.

USCIS District Office is Los Angeles

    Submitted N-400 around 1 March 2012.

Application receive date was 7 March 2012.

Priority date was 7 March 2012.

NOA Notice date was 14 March 2012.

Called USCIS on 24 April 2012 because I did not hear anything. Was told my case is within processing times.

Called USCIS on 22 May 2012 stating no case activity. An e-request was filled.

Called USCIS on 17 June 2012. I was told that a reply had been sent. Note: I have been fingerprinted for another application not long ago. Included a note in my application to that effect. Was told that fingerprints were not needed.

Received a letter on 18 June 2012 dated 7 June 2012 saying that I should receive an interview date within 60 days. Is this normal? I was told to make an infopass appointment in case I don’t get one. Is that normal? Anyone have any experience/knowledge? Do they interview me or give me an interview date? Same month or next month?

I have read that in some locations (mine Los Angeles) that the oath letter is given right after the interview. However, I am seeing that in various trackers such as here: http://www.trackitt.com/usa-immigration-trackers/n400 that the letter is mailed comes after wards. Which is it?

Is the oath date always in the same month or the month after? What about the 75 shown here http://www.cacd.uscourts.gov/clerk-services/naturalization-ceremony-locations-and-schedule that naturalize at the district court. Does my situation allow me to be one of them?

I was planning to get scheduled for an interview in early august (say 10th) and get naturalized at the end of the month. But, this seems unrealistic doesn't it?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can shed some light on my questions.

  6. I sent my application in for expedited naturalization. The check was cashed and NOA was sent. Then, I waited about 2 months with nothing happening. Finally called USCIS call center and they sent a letter was sent -- saying that we will send you a interview notice in 60 days. If you don't get one make an infopass appointment. (On speaking with an agent, I asked about fingerprints. I understood that I din't need them; since I had them taken less than year ago; hope that helps someone)

    Two questions:

    1. Has anyone experienced this? I am worried I won't get a notice and will have to make an appointment. What happens then?

    2. If I interview two weeks prior to scheduled naturalization, will I get a naturalization date the same month. My USCIS location is Los Angeles. They do 6000x2 people a month with 75 at the court, every other month.

Any knowledge or experience would help me.

    Thanks in advance!

  7. Wonder how your situation turned out. Here is my situation:

Current Status: Conditional Resident, married to a US Citizen

Entry into the US: Dec 2010

Date for removal of conditions: Dec 2012

Situation: I have been continuously overseas except for short returns to the US. I reside overseas with spouse, who is employed by a US State University, who is under contract with the DoD to provide educational services

I have filed for re-entry permit and obtained one

Next move was to file N-470 to preserve residency duration for naturalization after 3 years. Again, I have been continuously overseas.

I stumbled upon INA 319(b) on various websites.

USCIS website here specifically makes provisions for active duty members and dependents.

Here and here, there are details that my case may allow me to expeditiously naturalize.

Question: Am eligible for file for naturalization expeditiously based on INA 319(b) based on my case even though I am not active duty member, spouse or dependent, but a DoD Contractor's overseas spouse? Does my situation warrant an expeditious naturalization?

    Thanks!
