  1. After the USCIS update, it just took about 3 days to get the actual letter, and the oath itself was just 10 days after the interview.

Regarding friends/family, they did not have any limit (in fact the IO told me "you can invite all your friends", but the actual hall where the ceremony took place is not very big (we were 107 new citizens plus friends/family and it was pretty much fullI want

I wanted to ask if you were offered the opportunity to apply for the U.S. passport after the Oath ceremony at the USCIS field office ?

I am thinking ahead and trying to bring along the passport requirements to the Oath ceremony event.

    Thanks.

  2. Camo's info updated! Congrats!

Thank you Happy Chic for taking time to update me.

  3. So my Oath ceremony letter came in yesterday, 08/06 to appear on Tuesday, 08/11 for the Naturalization ceremony. I am filled with much happiness...I can't even put my positive feelings into words. I am so thankful to the creator(s), moderators and members of Visajourney for being so helpful to me and my family as a whole.

To recap, official interview letter (N400) received on 06/29; Interviewed on 07/30. KASH2011, will you kindly update me ?

  4. After the USCIS update, it just took about 3 days to get the actual letter, and the oath itself was just 10 days after the interview.

Regarding friends/family, they did not have any limit (in fact the IO told me "you can invite all your friends", but the actual hall where the ceremony took place is not very big (we were 107 new citizens plus friends/family and it was pretty much full)

Thanks dchamero for answering my questions.

  5. So I went for my interview last Thursday 07/30 - 1230 at the Irving-Dallas TX. Made it to the USCIS office 60 mins prior in order to ease off my anxiety. Thanks to my wife who helped me alleviate some of the stress by encouraging me to relax and free. Ooops!! distraction method couldn't do it enough for me.

@ 1240, I was called by a nice female officer who grilled me. Just joking about the "grilled"... she was actually pleasant and the interview was laid back.

Did the stand up & swear in as usual and there we go.

Before she asked, I gave her my passport, DL and GC; but she didn't bother to open or look at them. "So Mr ***, looks like we received a lot of documents from you," says the officer. I smiled and answered, this has been a long process.

We started off with the questions below:

Why does the flag have 50 stars?

What is the name of the President of the United States now?

What did the Declaration of Independence do?

What does the President’s Cabinet do?

Name one branch or part of the government.?

If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

Requested for my birth certificate which I brought with me. She skimmed through it to verify my full name and dob.

Then, we went over the yes & no questions and answers. That took a long time because we would break off in between to talking about somethings about spouse, job and kidos. More so, I volunteered to submit my DL record and proof that I completed a defensive driving course for a speeding ticket obtained couple of years back.

Upon completing all these, the officer verbalized there was nothing derogatory on my case; therefore, she would go ahead and close my case.

Further on, she printed and handed me the form N-652 {which was marked with (i) passing the test of English (ii) Congratulations!! }. Unknown how common this is, she stamped my application with APPROVAL. I was like wow!!! My AOS case wasn't approved in my presence. Lastly, Officer said, "I will recommend your case for approval and you should get the letter within 30 days.

Thanked her as she walked me out @ 1315.

The next action is to hopefully receive the Oath letter.

  6. So the status said that they scheduled an interview with a new date???? That's strange, but the online status is somewhat unreliable.... so who knows....

On the form they gave you at the interview, is it marked "Congratulations"?

This sounds weird as dchamero stated above. More so, I won't trust the online system but sanil1986 had a similar response at his/her interview site.

Below is the link I found on USCIS regarding the N400 processing method.

    http://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartB-Chapter4.html

  7. I just received a Status Update:

Application Type: N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION

    Your Case Status: Oath Ceremony

We scheduled your oath ceremony for Receipt Number NBC*XXXXXXXXX. We sent a notice with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony to the address you gave us. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by August 26, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

So now I guess is just to wait to receive the letter in the mail... I am soooo happy!!!!!!!! (and that was really fast, I had the interview on Friday, and the oath was scheduled on Monday)

    Congrats... btw, that was quick.

    Dallas better keep it rolling.

  8. Sorry if this has been repeated but just a bit nervous because of an RFE during the removal of conditions on our green card. We've been married only 3 years and we had an RFE when removing conditions because they said we had not shown enough evidence of "financial intermingling" of joint accounts. We ended up submitting bank statements for every month showing joint ownership since our marriage (at first had sent only first month and last month) as well as credit card transaction history and our RFE was lifted and we were approved for the 10 year green card. To avoid problems when we submitted the N-400 we submitted again bank statements for every month since marriage as well as all credit card history. Will they have all of that paperwork at the interview or do we need to bring it with us again? Is it even necessary? It was roughly 200+ pages and I don't want to reprint it all again if not necessary. I will also bring tax transcripts to be safe.

Just concerned for any delays because on the interview letter checklist we got there was this clause "If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen, bring proof that your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for at least 3 years at the time of filing for naturalization and proof that you and your spouse lived in marital union for at least 3 years at the time of filing for naturalization."

That last sentence worries me because it is very vague. Do I need to reprint all the paperwork we sent in as evidence with our N-400? I know if they need more paperwork they will ask but I don't want to delay things and would like to be prepared.

I would advice you to also bring your birth certificate as they might ask you. This week, I read somewhere on the April 2015 list that they requested to see a vjer's birth certificate (not the baptism certificate she submitted way back during AOS and/or ROC).

  9. Hello Everyone!

I have been following this forum for a while, but never commented. It has been helpful and as a way of saying thank you, I'd like to share my story to help others!

I filed the application under the 3 year rule, and my journey started when I sent my N400 package on April 18th, 2015, I sent it a month before my 3rd year green card anniversary. They received it and the priority date was April 21. I had my fingerprints done a month later, on May 18th. A week later they sent me a notification saying that I was in line for an interview. On June 5th they scheduled my interview. And my interview was today July 13th in Boston.

I had my husband come with me for support, since I was a bit nervous. My appoint was at 2:15 and we arrived at 2pm. I waited about 20 mins,(in which during that time they called 4 people in) and this really young woman officer called me in. The officer was extremely nice! She wasn't much older than 30. Anyway, as we walked in she asked if I had all the docs with me, passport and green card, and drivers license. We got to her office and asked me if I preferred to do the civics test first, or go through the application. I was puzzled, why was she being so nice! haha when everyone is always complaining about having a bad experience! I chose to go through the app first. and then we moved on to the test. She had me write "The white house is in Washington D.C" and to read a sentence that I can't remember. After that she went to ask me the 10 questions. I forgot all of them, but she did ask what was the capital of my state? (super easy!) who is the executive branch?!!!! and omg I don't remember the other ones but since I answered all the first 6 questions, she Congratulated me on passing the test! After that she asked me if there were any documents that I wanted to submit, and again I was confused, because I thought they were going have me show them the originals of the marriage certificate, or my husband's birth certificate, and she said that she didn't need anything, because she already had them! She did not ask me for a proof of residency or marital union. I was happy! Although I did prepare for this, I brought a giant folder with all the documents we have together, w2s, tax returns, tax transcripts, car loan, bank accounts,lets.... So that was it! took less than 15 mins! She told me I was going to receive a notification in the mail as to when my oath was going to be and to bring my green card for surrender. YAY!!!!!!!!

So if your interview is coming up, please don't be nervous, just study the civics questions and you should be all set!

    Congrats!!!

  10. My interview went good earlier , appointment was around 10:15am , they called me around 11:15. once at the office with a nice young officer we wnt over the application and asked me those yes/no Questions , took the civics got all 6 questions right.then reading/writing. no unusual thing to mention , the interview just went smooth exactly 13 min. Recommended for approval. now just the oath wich basically will be scheduled in about 3 weeks or so. the journey is close to its end. Good luck all VJ Fella

    Congratulations!!!

My interview was today, waited for about 15 minutes, and was called in. Really nice guy, we went over my application and then we did the test. The questions were: What is the Supreme Law of the Land? Which countries did the US fought in WW2? Who vetoes laws? What is the capital of your state? What did the Declaration of Inependence did? Who is the father of our nation? The interview lasted around 15 minutes and I was recommended for aproval :joy: I was told to wait in the waiting area for my Oath Letter, the same day! So they called me like 45 minutes later and I'm scheduled to Oath on JULY 24th!!

    Congratulations on your approval.

  11. Completed interview today. Was asked only 4 civic Qs, one sentence to read & write. Officer went over the application and recommended for approval. Said it could be 4 to 6 weeks to get oath letter. Was there for 2.5 hours because of long wait.

It's safe to say your long 2.5 hour wait did pay off.

Just wanted to congratulate you on your recommendation for approval.

  12. Ok, so a little more details on my recommendation for approval at the interview yesterday.

I arrived 45 mins early (12:45 appointment) and handed in my letter at the check in window and was told to have a seat until I was called. While sitting I noticed a flat screen was displaying the 100 civics question and their respective answers, so I took the time to quiz myself one last time (as were a lot of other people sitting close by). After sitting for about 35 mins I was called to be interviewed by a pleasant lady who introduced herself and asked me to follow her to her office. It was upstairs and we used the elevator (in awkward silence) to get there.

Once in the office, she asked me to raise my right hand and gave me the oath. I then had a seat and was asked for my passports, ID and green card. She told me we were going to start with the civics questions and the reading and writing. I passed all of them and went on to the application. She verified my info and went into the "yes or no" questions. She then asked me to sign the application and gave me a piece of paper that verified my information was correct. She said that would be the info on the certificate (mind you, she hadn't given me the N-652 yet, but I took a lucky guess on whether I was approved or not lol). she made a comment about the next ceremony being in August and THEN said "congratulation you are recommended for approval" while handing me the N-652.

By then were finished and she offered to walk me out. At the elevator I said thank you and she said congratulations again.

The interview literally took 15 mins. She did not ask me for anything other that what I mentioned above.

    Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations on your approval. I guess you felt a huge relief after going through that 15mins.

Let's be positive that the remaining applicants, including me will get a quick 15mins interview that yields an approval.
