Hello,
I just wanted to update my interview this morning. It went pretty well
I went there 15 minutes early and waited in the lobby about 15-20 minutes. My IO is very nice. She introduced herself and outlined what the interview process will be which I think it's very useful and giving me time to prepare myself. She asked me to stand up and raise my right hand to take the oath. She asked me to show her my GC and passports before asking civics questions:
- What does the President’s Cabinet do?
- If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
- How many U.S. Senators are there?
- We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?
- How many justices are on the Supreme Court?
- What did the Declaration of Independence do?
Then she asked me to read "When is Columbus day?" and write "Columbus day is in October" down. Next, she went through my N-400 application and asked several questions on parts 1-5 (such as current legal name, current address, the trips outside the US, my job and where I work, etc). Next, she asked the questions on part 11 (yes/no), and asked whether answers I told her are true and correct. I said yes and signed my name on the application (Part 15). She then said I passed the test, welcomed me, and asked me to fill and sign Part 17. Yes!!!!
I'll update once I get a Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony.

I had my interview today. Scheduled time was 9:00, I showed up at 8:30. I was called in at 8:50. Interviewing officer was a middle-aged Caucasian lady. She started out a bit distant and wary, but over the course of the interview she became more relaxed and friendly.
The interview started with the test. Six questions: (a) Location of Statue of Liberty, (b) Two federal holidays, © What we promise when we become US citizens, (d) Name of governor, (e) Name of movement to end racial discrimination, and
Name of first President.
She then went over the paperwork. She had to make numerous changes since (a) I had updated telephone numbers, (b) I had info re: travel after submitting the N-400, and © I had a list of organizations I had forgotten about when I filled out the N-400. She mentioned my traffic ticket from many years ago but said "It is not a disqualifying offense" and moved on. The only document she asked from me was my marriage certificate, which she photocopied and gave back to me.
At the end she said "I am recommending your application to be approved" and gave me the N-652 with the "Congratulations" part checked. She said I would receive my oath notice in the mail, since my state only does judicial ceremonies 1-2 times a month.
I will update when I receive my oath letter. Next date according to the court's website is Oct. 30th, I hope it will be on that date since I would like to get my new passport before Thanksgiving so I can go somewhere nice to celebrate...
Congrats!!

I am sorry, did I miss anything?
What is the listed documents we should bring to the interrview?
I thought we already sent everything they needed
Thanks
Angelina75,
You will receive the interview letter and it will indicate which documents you should bring to the interview (at the bottom of page). And yes, they have everything (from my GC applications), maybe they just want to see/update the docs.
I submitted my N-400 application based on marriage, so the list they asked me to bring are a marriage certificate, proof death/divorce of prior marriage, and spouse's birth certificate. Since my husband lost his birth cert., so he has to get a new one. His passport is not on the list they provided, I'll bring his just in case.

You appear to be eligible to file under the 5-year rule. In that case, you don't need to bring any of your husband's documents.
I see. It's listed under the documents I should bring to my interview, so I'm kinda wondered about it.
Thank you!

Hi,
Today, I received the letter indicated that my interview date is October 13.
Quick question, can I bring my husband's passport instead of his birth cert. to the interview? We can't find his birth cert. Thank you.

I had an Oath Ceremony this morning and it was a nice and pleasant experience.
The ceremony was scheduled at 10:00AM, but the letter told me to be there at 8:30AM. The ceremony was performed at the courthouse in downtown Kansas City, so no cellphone allows except cameras. While we were waiting, the USCIS officers started the process: people were called to form the line, gave back their green cards and oath letter/other document(s), went to the table to check their information on the certificate of citizenship, then signed in front of the officers. After this process, we were called to the eighth floor and ran through the ceremony steps. Around 10, the judge came, gave us welcoming notes and a brief speech, then we took the oath. After taking the oath, the representatives from Board of Elections and SSA congratulated us and told us to stop by their tables after the ceremony to register to vote and update our SSN status (which I think it's nice and saved my time not to go to the actual SSA location). Then we did the pledge of allegiance and the judges presented us with our certificates...and I am now a US citizen
Thanks to everybody that helped me out and good luck to the rest of you!
