  1. Hello all,

My husband got in to the States on the 3rd of March. We had checked the DS230 form to automatically get the SSN automatically but it's been about 10 days already. He went to the social security office today and was advised he would have to wait for 21 days before he can apply for one. Anyone experienced this delay, or how long did any of you wait to get their social security number?

    Any answers will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. Hello all,

My husband recently had his interview on the 16th of January. He got a paper that indicated he was approved pending a document the NVC misplaced. He submitted the document missing / misplaced back to the embassy via DHL per their request free of charge, they held on to his passport. We were given a website that indicates we needed to sign up in order to get an airway bill number to pick the passport from the DHL office, but the website has been indicating there is no airway bill number avail.

I also saw a website on Visajourney - https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx and was able to track the visa, which indicated it was issued on the 29th of Jan.

I why there is no airway bill number listed, and yet the visa tracker indicates the visa was issued.

Question, is my husband supposed to receive an email with the DHL airway bill number? Anybody / Kenyans out there who can give some input?

  3. Hi,

We also got an RFE at the USCIS level, and I am thinking you went with the marriage certificate from the Church and not the document that shows that your marriage was registered at the county clerk. The document I believe they want is the one that usually states "Republic of Kenya" as the header, where the marriage was solemnized, what district and province. So when you get married, you sign the one from the church and then there is one from the county. It also has a record number on the top left hand side. That one normally comes from Sheria house (I believe), so if you lost that copy you can always request another one.

  4. Hello,

My case was closed on Nov 9th, and the lady I spoke with at NVC indicated that I would not get a Dec interview date, that there were no slots during this month. She could not give me a January date either, she indicated that I would need to wait for the email advising me of the date.

  5. Hello all,

I called the NVC yesterday and they stated my case was closed on the 9th of November. Today I received an email stating that the case was closed however, additional information would be required by the applicant during the interview. I have a joint sponsor who missed a few things on the AOS. Are these documents required to be originals as well, or can they be copies? The letter states to fill out the form again, and there is a portion of the form that actually requires a signature that the joint sponsor omitted. I know with the NVC the original signature and forms were required, does this apply at the consulate level as well?

    Please advice,

    Thanks.

  7. Hello all,

I submitted my AOS documents on 10/03 to the NVC, I filled out the form 864 as well as my joint sponsor as I am currently unemployed. My joint sponsor listed her husband on the form 864. With that said, we somehow didn't realize that he also needed to submit the form 864a. The NVC sent my request back stating that he needed to fill this out.

I have looked at the form, and there is a portion that I need assistance with.

Part 2 of this form is the Sponsor's promise states....

"I the Sponsor (Name of Sponsor), in consideration of the household member's promise to support the following intending immigrant and to be jointly....., promise to complete and file an affidavit of support on behalf of the following indicate number named intending immigrants.

The portion listed as indicate number, am I just writing the number 1 if it's just the person who is being sponsored? in this case my husband / the applicant?

    Please advice,

    thanks.

  8. Hello all,

I was using an attorney for the processing of my hubbys Cr1 visa. I am at the NVC stage, and havent paid any of the bills, I however have received my invoice numbers and nvc number. The attorney has added extra charges that I wasnt aware of when I began using him and I just cant afford him anymore. He has indicated he isnt going to proceed without the attorney fees, and he is willing to let me proceed on my own. Since the choice of agent form was automatically sent to him, is there a way to reverse this since I do see the form gives me an option to choose another agent? How should I proceed? Completely confused.....

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
