  1. Yes, his interview was last November on the 25th. They did not keep his passport. 3 people talked with him and 2 people seemed satisfied but 1 man told him to come back with a letter of employment from his job. We didn't understand why this was relevant to our case since he could be jobless and should still be allowed to get a visa since I am the one who has to prove I can support him (and I did prove that). But he did as he was asked and took an official letter back to the embassy 4 days later. At that time, they told him the man who had requested it was gone on vacation and would return "soon." No one else was allowed to handle our case. I called about it a few days ago and they said the man was still gone but would return "soon." (grrrrrr) I am hoping things are just going slowly because of the holidays as you suggested....

  2. I submitted the I-129 fiance application May 2011. My fiance had his interview over a month ago on November 25, 2011. We thought he would have his visa by now and don't understand what is taking so long. When I called to ask about it, they said the man in charge of our case was gone for the holidays and would be back "soon" but that our case was still processing even though he was still gone. They would not tell me what "processing" means. I thought they did all that stuff before the interview and that the interview was the last and final thing! I am getting frustrated and am wondering if this time frame is normal or if this seems a bit delayed. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks so much!!

  3. For the past 3 years I have been receiving allimony and child support. I still receive the child support, however, 4 months ago I stopped getting the allimony. Until I find something better, I have been doing odd jobs such as cleaning houses, babysitting, ect. But how do I show how much money I make when I only started doing this a couple months ago and I still don't have a strong enough clientelle to call it a "business." And the money is so random. I might have a good week and then the next week everyone will cancel. Any suggestions on how I can get the proof of income and proof of employment needed to get my fiance here to the States? Thanks so much!

  4. I was online when my fiance's ex girlfriend popped up and told me that uscis takes a long holiday break from October till after the new year around February. During this time, everything is sort of "frozen" and anything that has not been processed or approved before they go on break will just sit there till after the break. Is this true or is she just trying to be discouraging since she is constantly trying to break us up and get my fiance back? This was the first I had heard of this and I am really hoping she is wrong...

  5. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get a 1st response after sending the initial I-129 fiance visa package? I have been checking my mail every day (of course! :), but haven't heard anything yet. I am anxious to receive our number or whatever it is that we are supposed to get so that we can start tracking our progress. Thanks!

  6. Ok, great! So another question is this... My "income" consists of child support and alimony. I do not have tax records for the past 3 yrs for this reason. Will this be a problem? Also, is the child support considered income? And are my 2 minor boys considered my dependents or my ex husbands dependents. I have full custody but he sees them every other weekend and pays child support? And do I count my fiance as my dependent while figuring out if my income is sufficient? So sorry for so many questions!! Thanks so much!
