When the woman I called told me the date and place.....I asked the same question. The only explanation she could give me was that people coming from further away get to get their oath at the Atlanta office.

Who cares....I'm nearly there!!!

On the form they sent me, it asks if I've been away since the interview....I've been away 29 days, I hope it doesn't affect the oath ceremony in any way (Extra admin to be done!!?? )

Not to worry! unless you went to North Korea or Cuba, travel abroad since the interview is not a problem. You will just be asked where you went.

Still seem to be many people on the list who have not had their oath. Long delays? or people not always updating when their naturalization journey is complete?

This morning I became a US citizen. I was one of 117 saying the oath of allegiance in a courthouse in the nation's capital. It was a fine ceremony, with over 50 countries represented.

So as I finish one journey (immigration), and start a new one (as a US citizen), I wanted to be thankful to the visa journey community for all the helpful information and support. For those of you still waiting to complete this journey, I wish you the best and hope that it will finish soon.

You are allowed to bring guests. Limit is another issue. Assumption is, it will be a spouse and/or children. If you are planning to bring in dozens, then there might be certain rules. You are beyond the issues of citations and travel declaration. Since its an Oath, and not an interview, who would you have to justify it to?

The form N-445, which they send informing you of when the naturalization ceremony will take place, includes a list of questions at the back that you have to answer, yes or no.

Just received a letter confirming that my oath ceremony will take place on 01/08/2013. Can't wait!

Quick questions:

-for those of you who have already gone through the ceremony, do you know if guests are allowed to attend? and if so, is there a maximum number? for reference, I will be having my ceremony in Washington, DC.

-between my interview and the ceremony, I will have traveled abroad (going to see my parents for the holiday season), and I was just cited for a speeding ticket. Do you know if either of these changes are likely to pose an issue?

Just to let you know I had my interview this morning and it went smoothly.

Only waited 5-10 minutes in the waiting room.

Most of the initial questions just went over what I wrote on my N-400 form. Then I was asked to read a very basic sentence, as well as to write a very basic sentence, before moving to the civics questions. Once I answered the first six, the test was over.

After signing a few documents, I was given the form that mentioned I was recommended for approval. Overall, probably spent only 30 minutes in the building.

I honestly have no idea at this point..try checking the USCIS website for more details, so it's not an issue that might delay your process. Hopefully someone here has gone through the same situation and can help you with it.

My understanding is that you had to register for selective service if a) you lived in the US between the ages of 18 and 26, and b) lived there as a permanent resident or on an immigrant visa.

I actually had quite a lot documents, but she did not ask for those. I think it is important to have foreign passport, drivers license, greencard. That's an absolute must. The reason you need all your 'other' documents (you provided them with the application N-400), is in case immigration officer doesnt have it, then you can give them a copy. Dont forget I did N-400 based on having GC for 5 years, so required documentation might be different, if you apply through marriage for example.

Congrats! I was curious what documentation you had to bring to the interview. I received two letters, which seem to request different documents. I am somewhat confused.

Also, did they do anything with your other passport?

Received interview letter today. Interview is scheduled for 10/24

I got my initial text message about being in queue for an interview on 09/17, and it mentioned 30 days. Just checked now and it still says 30 days. Not sure whether this will remain the case...

Waiting for naturalization is certainly less stressful than the removal of conditionality step. At least, my residency is assured for the next decade.

What I find baffling is that it is taking so long for the background check, considering they conducted one only a few months ago when I removed conditionality on my green card... alas

Update, Check cashed today! Was going worried, as I had not received any sort of confirmation, but the check cashed is a sign they got my package. Now waiting for NOA and Bio Appointment.

ps: does anyone know why we have to go through a bio appointment again? This will be my third one, after the AOS and the removal of conditionality. Dont see the point...
