  1. Hi everyone. We recently got our interview date ( Yay :) ) set for Sept 14. I want to be with my wife during her medical exam and so I'm planning on going over on Sept. 8 and go through the medical exam on Sept. 10. I just got an email from our immigration attorney and they are advising us to have the medical exam no later than Sept. 7 to avoid delays in getting our visa. I read somewhere on VJ that you can have it as late as two days before the interview date. Is Sept. 10 too late of a date to have her medical? Thanks in advance guys :)

  2. We also have our interview date set for Sept 14, if I may deviate a bit, what would prompt SLMEC to require an applicant to have a sputum culture test? From what I understand, the results of the test (not including sputum culture) are sealed and delivered to the consulate in Manila so how would the applicant know a sputum test is required?

  3. Thanks be to God almighty, he's so good to us :) I called up NVC last night and was informed that we have a date set for our interview :) In addition, NVC emailed us the notice the morning making it official :) We're so happy and thrilled that after months of waiting, we're at the final steps towards starting our life together here in the US :) Thanks for everyone's help :) Always keep up hope and pray to Him for he makes all things possible :)

  4. Hi everyone. I've done searches before on ITIN and I just want to confirm the info that I've read. Just wanted to know, it's perfectly fine for my wife and I to apply for an ITIN for her right? There shouldn't be any issue with her getting her visa correct? (we're already approved and NVC just completed our case). Do I need to worry about her ITIN coming up during our interview? Thanks in advance :)

  5. Called NVC a few minutes ago and was told that, as of today, our case is complete!!! Yay!!!   Thanks and praise be to God, we're soooooo happy!!! Finally after months of waiting, we're on the last couple of steps towards the completion of our visa journey and starting our life together here in the US. Thanks to all VJ'ers :) woohoo!!!

  6. Hi everyone. Earlier today, I called NVC to check if there's any progress with our visa app. Not that I was expecting great news but I figured I'd ask anyway. When I got through to an agent, she informed me that there isn't any progress with our case. However, she seemed a bit irritated that I had called NVC several times now and told me that it takes 10-15 business days for them to review our case. Is it ok to call NVC often? They seem to have a record of how many times I had called. Would it hurt our case if I do call often and keep following up our case?

  7. Hi All. Just wanted to vent a bit, not really upset or anything, and I do understand the NVC has a lot of cases to review and has a tremendous workload but why do they keep on overlooking documents we've already submitted? Twice now, we've received notices that we need to submit a required document even though we already did. Fortunately, we're using the services of an immigration attorney and they're keeping on top of things but it just surprises me that this would even happen. Have anyone experienced the same thing with NVC? Is this typical of them? Thank.

  8. Hey guys :) It's been about a week since our immigration attorney sent the documents over to NVC for processing and I called twice already and they said they haven't received them. I doubt this since I'm pretty sure my attorney sent them with tracking numbers etc. Anyway, are they only saying that because their system says so even though the packets were actually received and it's somewhere at the center?

  9. Hi all. Me and my wife have gathered and submitted all the requirements as indicated by our immigration attorney who in turn sent them together with the necessary forms to NVC. All the fees have been paid as well. At this point, they have advised us to wait for NVC to finish processing our case and forward it to the Manila Embassy to schedule our interview. My question then is, where are we on the timeline at this point? Looking at other people's timelines, I see dates for Packet 3 received\sent and Packet 4 but those come after the consulate has received the petition.

  10. Hi all. First and foremost, we thank our heavenly father that our visa app is moving along quickly :) God is good and he's answered our prayers :) I called NVC yesterday and the rep told me that they just received our document packet and we now have an NVC case number :) Thanks to everyone on VJ :) I hope things will start to pick up some more for the next parts of our visa journey.

From this point, after we submit all the required docs and paid all the fees, how long would it take to get a medical exam and interview date?

  11. Hi everyone :) Since getting our NOA2, me and my wife have started the process of gathering the necessary docs for the NVC stage of our visa app. I'm going through an immigration law office and their asking for police clearances for all of the places she's lived in since age 16. In addition to living in the Philippines, she lived in Vietnam for almost two years (where we first met) as well as a month in Malaysia and a month in Singapore. Now, I would understand that we need to get a police clearance from Vietnam since she was there for some time, but would we need to get one from Singapore and Malaysia as well as even though she was only there for a month? Also is it necessary to get clearances from all the places she's lived in or is the law office just playing it safe? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! :)

  12. I'm still waiting, but please don't tell me God has anything to do with this.

God has EVERYTHING to do with this Robby :) Me and my wife have prayed hard to God to speed up the process so that we'll be together sooner and he has answered them. The day before we got the notice, my wife went and offered a special prayer intention at a local monastery and that prayer has been answered. Have faith and believe in the power of prayer, all things are possible through Him :)

  13. While talking with my wife on Skype, I received a text message from USCIS regarding our I-130 application and I immediately checked my email to find that our application has been approved :)) Thanks and praise be to God :)) Our prayers have been answered!!! Our NOA2 approval came just a little under 4 months. Thanks to everyone on this forum :) For those still waiting, keep your hopes up and offer up to God your prayers and intentions :))

  14. Also, I was looking at the W7 application and it looks like she needs to sign it and we need to provide proof of her ID and residence outside the US. Does she absolutely need to sign it? Can I sign it on her behalf? There isn't much time to send docs back and forth with April 15 looming over the horizon and I'd want to avoid having to file an extension if I can.

  15. Hi everyone. I'm pretty much done with my taxes this year and I was going to file Married filing separately since our petition is still pending approval. I'm using TurboTax btw. However, doing so, I would owe a lot on my taxes. Now, I switched my filing status to Married filing jointly and I'm going to get a refund instead it seems. Now, this would mean I need to get an ITIN for my wife. She's not working right now and is studying part time. Would getting an ITIN for her affect our visa petition in anyway? Also for those who had filed before, how long does it take to get an ITIN? Thanks :)

  16. Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the correct forums to post this in. I had a question with regards to filing my taxes for 2011. I use Turbotax to do my taxes and since we're are now married, I updated my filing status to Married Filing Separately on turbotax. But since she isn't the US yet and thus has no SS number, can I claim her on my taxes?

  17. Hi, we just received our NOA1 notice last week and are very optimistic that things will go smoothly with our visa application. Being newly weds, not being able to be with each other is difficult and we'd want to spend as much time together as possible while our application is being processed. Since I don't have a lot of leave time at work, I'm planning on resigning from my job and spending a month with my wife in the Philippines. After which, I'll return to the US and start looking for work. Hopefully I can get a job before I need to submit the AOS but if I can't, would it greatly affect our application? I could have my mom and dad co-sponsor us but I'd rather not go that route. I do have significant savings in the bank, own my house and a couple of vehicles. Will that be enough to prove my capacity to support my wife once she gets here? What exactly do they need me to submit for the AOS? Do they need proof of current employment? Thanks in advance :)

  18. Hi everyone. I'm new to visajourney and I'm glad there's an online resource such as this to help in answering US immigration questions. Just a bit of info, me and my wife recently married Nov of last year. We miss each other so much and although there's the internet\facebook\skype to help, it's not the same as having the person you love the most right next to you as most of the members here can relate.

Since US immigration processes can be tricky, I didn't want to take chances and so I went with the services of a local reputable law firm to file her I-130 application. The para legal sent off the package Jan 25 and I asked her yesterday how long it would take to get a notification and she said it typically takes 4 weeks. Judging from the timelines I've seen here, NOA1 (if I'm using this term wrong, please correct me) should take no more than a week or two. Does it really take 4 weeks? Also what's the next step from here?

    Thanks in advance :)
