  1. Hello!

It's been a long time since I've been on here. Not had to do much with Visa related stuff until recently. So, I sent in I-751 package, it was forwarded to CSC via NSC.

I received my NOA1 in the mail a week or so ago, and it has a WAC receipt number. However, when I pump that in to the case status online as USCIS, it tells me it's invalid. I drop the dashes as the field is too small to have them anyway.

Anybody else had that problem, and if so, how long did it take to update it so you could see it online, or what did you do to fix it?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Well, it with great pleasure (for me anyway!), that I am now approved, having had my "Welcome to America" letter today. It's kind of a bitter sweet moment really, and a real anti-climax, especially after both of us hyping ourselves up for the interview only to wait another 8 weeks for confirmation. I know there are quite a few people on that have been waiting infinitely longer than me, which seems highly unfair.

I know I should sound a lot more grateful, and deep down I'm really really happy! I think it will sink in over the next few days. It's a great thing as our 2nd wedding is only a few weeks away, so I'm going to do a little speech, and hopefully wave the green card around!

Anyway, please would someone kindly update me?

Thanks, and I sincerely hope that some of you get the news you so desperately deserve soon.

  3. Well, you can add me to the ever increasing list of poeple waiting. We had our AOS interview today, and I had prepared so well for it. We answered all the questions, and he said "Everything looks good.....but we are still waiting on your FBI checks". Then he cheerfully said "It could be a day, a week, or a year. We even have cases that are over two years old!". Thanks for really kicking a guy while he's down!

I feel very numb about it all really, but at least I'm here, I have a job, and I'm grateful for all of that. I just really wanted this process over with so we could finally rest easy for a few years. Now the wait goes on....

  4. Congrats everyone! I don't post on the forums very often, I kind of lurk since I moved over to the US!

But again, case approved but a moment ago!!!! NOA1 was March 27th, so we are well within the 90 days EVEN with an RFE.

Now the pressure is on to get a job! I was hoping to sit at my PC for another 6 months while my wife slaved away!

Good Luck to everybody looking for job as a result of these recent approvals.

Now where is the damn card!? ;)

  5. I moved over from UK to US and I brought my locked Orange Nokia. I unlocked the phone via an unlock website.

I then purchased a T-Mobile PAYG phone, which is GSM, and comes with a SIM card, and planted the little baby in my Nokia. It's not quite that simple as you do need to setup the GPRS and MMS settings too if you want to use the web/WAP or send MMS messages. You might also find that some phones NEED to have those settings as this is how updates via the network are sent to you.

I personally think that the US are about 5 years behind the UK in terms of technology and phones. For such a super power to be this backward is beyond me. I guess as someone said before, the UK is a consumer led society. Most people here don't even know how to text!! ;) The only half decent phone here is the Motorola Razr and that's been out in the UK for years!!

  6. Hello all, it's been a while since I've been on here...

I sympathise with the OP and others regarding RFE's. We were RFE'd recently, and up until today we were panicking as to what it could be for. We were 100% convinced that it was because of the I-693, but today we got our yellow letter saying that we needed to prove the co-sponsor was a US citizen. A huge relief, but that has thrown up a whole host of inconsitencies with the USCIS. We haven't been asked for a I-693, and neither did we provide one?!?!

A question darted through my mind about this. Can you be RFE'd twice for AOS/EAD? I guess the easy answer is yes, but has anyone heard of a case where they asked for information, and then asked for other information NOT based on the original RFE?

Secondly, in trying to preempt being asked for a medical, I asked the CIS for approved medical centres. They gave me Concentra (www.concentra.com). They wanted $160 for everything I needed compared to $400 for a city centre one. So, just a snippet of help for anybody seeking a medical.

Lastly, I'm still wondering why I haven't been asked for the information about a medical. I did include the original vaccination worksheet that I had asked for at my interview in London, and I also wrote the following in my cover letter:

"Please note that as per the instructions on the I-485 (Rev 10/26/05, Page 3 under Section C for Fiancé(e)s), I have not submitted a full medical examination, as this took place in London, UK on xx/xx/2005 as part of the original K-1 application which should be part of my immigration package when I arrived in Chicago on xx/xx/2006. I have, however, included a vaccination supplement that was supplied to me at the same medical to show that they are correct and up-to-date."

This might help people trying to navigate the muddy waters of the USCIS! NOTE: That this this may or may not work, and I can't be help responsible if it doesn't!
