It's up to the consulate (once they reopen normal appointments) if they plan to resume interviewing these individuals. It's possible some may prioritize clearly exempted individuals first.

But yes, the CO makes a final decision if they are inadmissible under INA 212(f) or not. They would determine if any of the exceptions apply to the applicant.

If they determine they are inadmissible, they will be refused the visa. If the only issue is this EO, they can attempt to wait out the ban, at which point they would then become eligible for the visa again.

Thank you Geowrian. Appreciate the feedback. Was able to re schedule the appointment today - earliest was not until the after EO expires (in July) so depending what way the wind is blowing that day, we are at the mercy of the administration if the EO is extended or not.

  2. Quite confused by all this.

IR5 interview was postponed due to Covid, then the EO came out.

Called DOS - advised to proceed as planned since no where in the "small print" did it explicitly state that IR5 was suspended. It only stated in the small print that children were permitted - though it does state children/spouses are ok in the high level EO.

So not sure what "small print" he was looking at, but he said to proceed as planned - reschedule interview as soon as embassy opens and carry on - since its all at the discretion of the consulate officer anyway under the "any individual of national interest to further support the united states" (paraphrasing).

Not sure what to make of that and fear that my parents would be officially refused if we did so.

  3. We should wait and see. According to:

    https://apnews.com/81daf6cce6f75e385e9bb70c349f3995

An administration official familiar with the plans said the order would apply to foreigners seeking employment-based green cards and relatives of green card holders who are not citizens. But Americans who wish to bring immediate family to the country would still be able to do so, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity before the plan was announced. About one million green cards were granted in the 2019 fiscal year, about half to spouses, children and parents of U..S citizens.

  4. Just to update the group.

My PD was 5/22. Website shows no updates at all since case was received, but the lady on the line informed me the I130 was approved yesterday and the notice out in the mail. Said it takes 2 - 3 days for the website to be updated.

I have a question for the group re the 864 EZ. I am prepping it ready to go. I am married, but sponsoring with my income only so am sending 3 yrs worth of my W2's and 3 years of tax transcripts. Does it matter that the tax transcripts will show married filing jointly, or do I need to make my spouse a co sponsor?

  5. So I had my interview today at the Norfolk, VA field office and it couldn't have gone better! I was nervous when I got there but those nerves quickly subsided once I was called by a very nice and professional older lady. Quickly passed both the English and Civics portion of the test and then asked me a lot of questions from my application. The whole thing probably took 15 minutes and was given a letter stating the date, time and location of my oath ceremony. My oath is scheduled for the 29th of this month!

    Congrats!

  6. My status updated on the website and says I've been placed Inline for the Oath Ceremony and should receive the letter with the ceremony date on 30 days. That was quick!!!! I am so relieved...whewwwwwww

Wow thats cool, congrats. Hopefully I get some update soon too. Although they recommend folks for approval, until we get the ceremony information I dont want to risk thinking it's almost over.

  7. Very similar, to foramen - in and out in 40 minutes in fairfax today. No corrections to the application - just a thorough walk through of all questions under oath.

I can't recall all 6 questions she asked - I always thought it would be easy, but being sat there so focused and ready to answer - its easy to forget.

    Those that I do recall:

    1. Name one of the four amendments about those who can vote

    2. Who did we fight in world war 2

    3. Name one right in the first four ammendments

Reading test: Which state has the most people?

Writing test: California has the most people

Recommended for approval - signed my photos and confirmed the details for the certificate.

No evidence of marriage or anything else asked for.

Thanks .. looking forward to the Oath now!

  8. Hello, I am curious whether any of Washington DC/VA metro area applicants have received the biometrics notice?

mailed the application on Feb 23, 2015

cashed out on Feb 27, 2015

    NOA 1 received on March 4, 2015

I have been eagerly waiting for the biometrics notice, but it seems so late. I found a couple of people from the DC/VA area in this forum; did you get the biometrics notice or any update? I am worried.

    Thank you:)

Still waiting here and from the DC area. There are a couple of us still waiting, not only from the DC area, but all over. Sit tight.

  9. I m worried that I have not received notice to get my biometrics/fingerprints and looking at others processed it seems that they have processed past the date of my NOA which is 02/19.Right now it seems those that got the NOA on 03/02 has already been scheduled for fingerprints. Is this time to get panicked since it seems to be going faster for every other person,or should keep waiting, please advice. Thanks

I am in the same position, less worried now its not just me from the DC area who hasnt received their Biometrics. When I did my removal of conditions at the same time last year my biometrics date was March 27 - so I'm pinning it down to the crappy weather here recently and the amound of ppl applying in the DC area at the moment.

Trying not to worry yet, but if it gets to late next week, I'll call and ask to speak to an officer.

  10. Adding myself to the list.
