We thought the approval may come by December. Now with this transfer to CSC and stupid repetition of the biometrics, who knows how long more may take. Is it now as if the initial submission was the date of transfer a week ago?
-
After speaking with uscis, the representative said that since the case transferred to CSC, it is at that center's discretion to ask for another biometrics appointment. So it seems it has to be attended which seems ridiculous.
-
Hi,
We just received the same kind of email today asking for a biometrics appointment on Nov 24 even though was already completed several months ago. The case was just last week also transferred to CSC from VSC and we initially filed around 6/12.
Is this a mistake or does there need be another biometrics appointment?

It indeed reached Kolkata just a day after being sent from Mumbai! We chose to go pick it up at VFS Kolkata using the "hold at location" option rather than at home delivery of passport.
-
They use blue dart priority service. For Mumbai to Kolkata would be next day delivery.
Thanks a lot!!!
-
Hi,
Anyone aware of which service gets used by the US Counsulate for blue dart deliveries, is it domestic priority, domestic priority 12:00, etc? Anyone know if normally once the VFS hands over the package to Blue Dart, does it usually reach the destination by the next day, or later than that. For us is needed to go from Mumbai to Kolkata. Thanks

Just had interview today in Mumbai, India, and got approved!! Best of luck with your cases as they come!

Sorry to hear your situation and hope theres a viable solution out of this. However, not sure about where the news is about a crisis in Ethiopia where all the airports are closed and war is looming? Just did a search for news articles about it, couldnt find, and did a search for flights from Dubai/Abu Dhabi to Addis Adaba and its letting me select and book direct flights for even tomorrow.
However the scenerio works out, best of luck!

How were you even short of the "original I864"? In the CR1 workflow that wouldve been submitted to the NVC long before by the petitioner in the US and couldnt have even got the interview date in Mumbai to begin with.
Good luck with getting a new date and dont miss it under any circumstances

which city in the us is this for? price seems reasonable considering that its the end of summer, is a very busy time until the first couple weeks of september

Yes, I am sure about that. You wont need to redo PCC. I have done the same in my process. I applied for reissued passport after my case was completed at NVC stage. My PCC was issued for old passport and was containing my old passport number in PCC.
I was required to apply for reissued passport, as my wife had to renew her extension with Indian immigration, and they told us that I must have her name in my passport due to their new rule. I glad I did, because I found out, my passport was considered as damaged.
Overall, you should understand, one can get approval even one didnt have spouse name in passport, but everything depend up to case to case. Officer to officer. Their mood, Indian official who are looking your case file using microscope. People may have similar situation, but approval result can be different because each case is unique.
It is your choice, whether you prefer to get your passport reissued or just go with what you have. That is up to you.
I have just confirmed the info with the VFS for Mumbai counsulate that as long as the original marriage certificate has been provided, that is proof enough and adding spouse name to Indian passport is not necessary. This is the US counsulate, they should be consistent when they say something is needed or not.
I ask that please dont post possible misleading information that made us nervous for no reason. Getting a fresh passport is a big deal if needed (maybe faster in some parts of India than others), theres no way in Kolkata as my wife was told the passport could be issued in 3 days, more like 1-2 weeks at minimum even under Taktaal.
-
It may or may not. It really depend up to CO, and each case is unique. So treatment can be different.
If you have time to get passport re-issued, then that would be great as it is not an expensive solution. If done under Tatkal then it would take up to 3 days to get new passport in hand.
You don't need to redo PCC.
Are you sure about this? Now im stressed because we only have a few weeks till the interview and cant be sure in that country how quickly can get this done. We might end up having to postpone the interview if so.
Has anyone passed the interview without having added the spouse name to passport? Is there any known cases of a 221g issued for this alone? The US Counsulate website doesnt at all say this has to be done.
-
yes there is a fee that you have to pay at VFS, it is not visa fee, i think it is some other fee you have to pay.
what number did u call at mumbai consulate?
I did it at 011-91 120 6611411, which I think is the VFS helpline. Did it at around midnight, eastern time from the US.

Hi,
As we have the CR1 interview coming up soon next month, my wife has already had the passport office PCC issued a couple weeks ago. However, her Indian passport was issued a few years ago, so it does not have the spouse name added after our marriage.
I assumed this isnt needed at the US counsulate but suddenly just found conflicting information in some online discussion forums.
Can this become a issue at the US counsulate interview? Or do they not care about whether or not the spouse name has been added to the Indian passport? If we needed that, I presume we'd have to go through getting a new passport issued and then again doing the PCC based on the new passport, adding hassles.

Does anyone know if USC is allowed to go inside the Mumbai consulate with the applicant at the time of the interview?
How many days ahead my wife needs submit everything to VFS office and after they receive it how long does VFS takes to submit everything to consulate?
after the visa is approved, can you pick up the visa on same day at mumbai consulate?
Hi,
From my call last night to the Mumbai counsulate, it should be submitted to the VFS at least 4-7 days prior to the interview.
The USC petitioner cannot attend the interview at the Mumbai consulate, whereas if were in Delhi it is permissable.
Are there still fees to be paid to VFS for a CR1 visa interview? Given that its already been given for the AOS and IV bills directly to the NVC before.
Hopefully it can be possible to pickup the passport with visa in person as my wife is to stay one additional day in Mumbai for in case of that after the interview.
-
Hi,
As we are soon scheduled for CR1 Mumbai interview, wanted to know if its mandatory to have the passport with visa mailed "couriered" home or if theres any option or way to request it to be picked up in person, such as the day after the interview.
My wife, being from Kolkata is planning to stay a additional day after the interview and it would be nice if can return back with that in posession.
Any ideas? Thanks

My wife has already successfully obtained the PCC from the Passport Seva Kendra without having needed to add "spouse name" to the passport and did not require a local police station clearance certificate either. The PSK PCC was issued within same hour as the appointment.

Just now received a interview date of September 5th!!! Finally, process almost coming to an end after the long wait, hope goes fine.
India (At least Mumbai) filers, look out, might be getting your Packet 4 email very soon too

Please look at the thread "September Interviews" and will see. Some people from Philippines & Dominican Republic just received Sept interviews but none yet from India.

Hello All VJ members,
This site is great with full of useful information, please help:
I applied for my wife, she is from India and now we are waiting for Interview Date to be assigned. This is a CR1 type of visa. My wife just obtained PCC from the Passport office and here are my questions:
1) Does my wife has to submit PCC to VFS office in India to obtain an interview date or she submits the PCC to VFS office after the interview date is assigned?
2) Our case was completed on second week of July by NVC, is there anyone out there that have got an interview date for Mumbai Consulate?
3) Is there a possibility that we will get an interview date in September?
Every time i call NVC, i get very typical answer, you HAVE TO WAIT, I am tried of waiting.
Please let me know the answers to my questions above, Thanks in advance.
Our NVC case complete was on July 6th and were also still waiting for a interview date, also from Mumbai. Hopefully will be hearing about a interview date within a week or too regarding September dates.
As per my understanding the PCC is definitely not needed "in order to obtain" a interview date but does get needed at some point before the interview itself.
Good luck

I called this morning and as far as I'm aware, 2nd week of August should mean next week, and before 10th of August
-
My fiance just took the one from the local passport office , and they never asked about the city local one
So i Guess It just varies
Thats correct, only the passport (PSK) one should be needed for US counsulate interview.
-
Is it normal to the PSK to insist a new passport be issued for adding new spouse's name? My wife has a appointment at PSK just for getting a PCC, if replacing the passport is needed can forsee it causing delays.

So I am in a sticky position.
I am now married to a Chinese girl. She currently has a US travel visa which will run out in FEB. We DO NOT want to go for her a green card yet as we would like to travel the world a bit before that, BUT do want to come in and out of the US over the next few years.
That means we would like to continue renewing her travel visa before filing for the IR-1 in a year or two or more.
I know this plan is both legal and even advised in our situation, but the little lady has heard on the Chinese side of the web that getting a travel visa after getting married to a US citizen is next to impossible. Meaning she will not be approved for another travel visa because she is now married to me.
Is this true? and if so what other options do we have?
Note: We got married in China after she had received her visa, and she has been in and out of the US a couple times already.
Also, I just want to state here that the US has really sucky immigration laws if they will not let my wife come visit my parents even when she is not intent on immigrating.
THANKS ALL FOR READING!!!
By "travel the world", do you mean countries besides the US as well? I dont see problems with that even if the CR/IR visa in in processing. My wife and I went for a honeymoon in Europe with a schengen visa for her from India, while the I-130 was pending approval.

That is not correct. We went to Cancun, Mexico last month and the extension letter was enough, no visa.
