  1. So I was finally able to add my email address to the file today, after a week of " I cannot add your email yet as we are still inputting the case into the system. I sent off the ENROLL email for EP, and almost immediately after I received the auto-reponse

    Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for your recent inquiry to the National Visa Center (NVC). This e-mail is an auto response. Please do not respond.

We review and reply to e-mails in the order they are received.

    REQUIRED SECURITY INFORMATION:

You are required to provide the following security information with each inquiry to receive a case specific response:
    * NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number (Place in the subject line of the e-mail).
    * Petitioner's name and date of birth.
    * Principal Applicant's name and date of birth.
    * If you are an attorney, include your name and the name and address of your law office.
    * If the visa petition is employment-based (I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker), include the employer's company/organization name.

NOTE: If you did not provide the above security information with your e-mail, please resubmit the e-mail with the required information. If this information is not submitted with your inquiry it will be requested.

I presume this is just the standard response? I shouldn't be expecting any replies from NVC?

  2. My long form ON BC is the same as well. All the pertinent information was written in by my mother.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the answer and I have the right one!

So, my Ontario long form Birth Cert they sent me, is nothing like the one shown on the website above (of course that one is BC) but did any other ON born peeps have their long form BC be hand written info your parents would have written when you were born, but printed with the registered seal?

Am I just really old? lol

  3. I do have a Staples, about 2 min from my house. I went there to photocopy my BC when I sent my hubby a copy with the I-130 (wanted to be safe than sorrry after reading the RFEs people received for not including one in the I-130 package). Didn't think of them when it comes to scanning things.

Will a reduced image of my B.c. be acceptable?

  4. So I am getting around to scanning all my documents, and I just went to scan my long form Ontario birth certificate (the one I ordered from the office of the Registrar General) and realized it is too long for my scanner. Can anyone recommend a place that I could get it scanned and a copy of the scanned file to add to my pdf package?

  5. I am so saddened to hear you are having issues opening a joint account... you would think that staff would be more informed

This is just my experience, but the husband and I opened a joint account with Bank of America a few days after we got married (we got married in the U.S. and then I came home to Canada a few days later). I used my passport and Canadian driver's license as I.D. and there was no requirement of me having been in the country for a certain number of days. Lady opening the account for us spent a little more time going over my I.D. but that was it.

  6. I just have my bedroom furniture/mattress (going to be used for a spare bedroom once we PCS after his training is done, but will be used while I stay with the in-laws), my kitchen equipment and a few boxes of books and clothes. We'll either do Buffalo or Windsor as POE. I'm going to be doing an overall list and then posting taping a content list to each box. I like lists :)

  7. Going over the I-864 with hubby and we are a bit confused. He is active duty in the army, but what do we list for in Part 6 #1 (Employed as:________________). We have listed employer as being United States Armed Forces. Do we list his MOS or his pay-level for what he is employed as? He will also be changing his MOS in two months (within the time frame, so will this pose a problem.

Similarly, with his MOS change, he is entering a new training program for 10 mos. at Ft. Huachuca. He will most likely be having a bunch of his mail sent to his parents' home in Florida for the duration of the program. Do we list this as his mailing address, or his mailing info at Ft. Huachuca? I presume we will list his address at Huachuca as the residence?

Sorry for all the questions. Trying to get everything sorted out now before everything gets hectic with PCSing.

  8. So by the time my visa is approved, my husband will be in a training program for 10-months and will be unable to help me move my stuff. Will there be any issue with having my mother-in-law fly here and help me move all my stuff across the border? I will be staying with my in-laws while my husband finishes his training program as he will be in barracks, and then we will both move together to his new duty station once his has completed the program. I have enough stuff to warrant a small U-haul and am not terribly comfortable with the idea of driving all the way to Florida alone. I would prefer to move my stuff myself, but if having her with me at the border is prone to causing an issue, I will just pay for it to be moved professionally and I just do my POE at Pearson customs instead.

  9. I am compiling all the documents for our next stage and am about to get my police clearance. What exactly do I ask them for when I get to the station? As I have no criminal history, I am under the impression I do not need to go through the RCMP for this, but can go to my local police station, correct?
