  1. My wife and I will be visiting her family in Mexico for 2 months this summer. When we return, we have 7 days to get our I-795 to VSC. Her card expires Aug. 22 and we return on Aug. 15. Initially I was going to send out the packet before we left the US, but we my not get the NOA before we leave and the Bio appointment might be scheduled when we are out of the country. So I figured we would just return a week before the GC expires and overnight the I-795 package to VSC as soon as we get back.

Anyone think immigration at the port of entry will give her a hard time entering the country on a GC about to expire in one week?

Anyone have experience entering the US on a GC about to expire?

We will have a copy of the I-795 with us so we can explain our situation to the immigration officer at the port of entry if they ask.

    Thanks.

  2. My wife and I sent in the A-11 form for her and the I-865 Spouse form for myself when we changed our address. I received something back in the mail that the I-865 was processed, but we never heard anything back about my wife’s A-11 form being received or processed. For those of you who have done this before, is my wife supposed to get something back saying the A-11 has been processed or do we just assume it has because we sent it out? Thanks in advance for you help.

  3. My wife’s green card expires this Aug. 23. We want to travel abroad this summer from mid June to mid August. We are thinking of returning to the US a week before her green card expires, around Aug 15, and then sending in the I-751 removal of conditions paper work. We would get the I-751 into the USCIS before her card expires. Anyone think she would have a problem entering the US if her green card is due to expire a few days after we return to the US. Anyone have any knowledge or experience with this?

  4. We were approved this morning at garden city new york. The interview was quick and painless. The officer asked for some original documents submitted with the I-495 and the affidavit of support, and asked for evidence to support a valid relationship. We gave him some bills and insurance policys with our names on it. He then asked us for 2 pictures from our picture album which he did not look at. the only person questions he asked us was our address, where we worked, if we had kids, and our parents names. Thats it. Then were were told were would be approved pending a FBI name check and if we dent receive the green card within 3 months to return to the garden city office to check on the status.

  5. I received packet 3 in the US about 3 weeks after it was sent out. It was never received in mexico. It is not necessary for the US citizen to go to Juarez, but i did go because i did not want my fiancee going to Juarez alone. You will not be let into the building, but i have heard of some cases where the person being interviewed was sent out to get their partner. If you have a clear cut case and all the evidence they require, you should not need to go.

  6. Unless the policy has changed recently, you do not have to wait for Packet 3 to go for a K-1 interview!!!! Just print all the forms out online and show up a day early to get a paper from the consulate so you can get your medical done. Next day go for the interview, no appointment is needed for a K-1 interview at Juarez. I would call and check if you are still able to do this, and get the correct directions on how to do it. There is a great thread tucked away somewhere here on visajourney with TONS of info on this and people who have done it this way.

  7. We have not gotten to the interview yet so we cant help with your question. Hope you get it soon!

We just got our appointment letter today for Aug. 23. My wife does not speak "fluent" english and the letter mentioned to bring a translator if english is not spoken fluently. Does your wife speak fluent english or did you bring a translator? I remember our bio appointment, and more spanish was being spoken than english. Maybe a translator is not required at Garden City?

  8. I think you have sufficient evidence to prove your relationship. We had no more than you listed and were approved without a problem. For us, Juarez was more interested in the finical documents... bank letter, employment letter, past pay checks, investments, and so on. They also asked for past tax papers which we did not have because i was told over the phone NOT to bring them. So, you might want to get those ready also. Good luck and check out the other thread here on Juarez. TONS of info on it.

  9. We went through Juarez last Feb. Although you do not need the I-134 form you need all the evidence that goes along with it. We had it anyway. I mean its so simple to fill out, just do it. Bring all the evidence you can. I had an employment letter, bank letter, investment papers, life insurance papers, real estate papers, and tax papers. All they ask for was the letter from work and the bank, and my tax papers. Oh yeah, they took the I-134 also. I have heard they have taken less from others and more from others. So bring everything you can. Good luck and dont worry. It will be cake.
