  1. I always meet people (mostly white) on the street or in an elevator etc who greet you (Good morning, How are you?) even if they don't personally know you. I also met a lot of Filipinos who doesn't even bother to smile.

Is this a culture thing, or is it because we are just afraid to be rejected? Are we scared to smile or greet for fear that it might not be a Filipino after all? Or are some Filipinos just snobs and think highly of their stature now that they live comfortably abroad? I am just wondering...

If the white people can say "Hi, how are you?", why

  2. Hello there! I arrived in Philly about a week ago. I need some company especially when my husband is at work 5 days a week and I stayed inside the house bored to death. Please magparamdam po kayo hehehe...dito LNG me sa 44th street, malapit sa university city...

  3. Hi everyone. My fiancé is flying to Manila with her luggage ready and expecting to stay in manila for only two days before she can fly to USA on Friday. We have everything on hand already except the CFO stamp. Btw she took the CFO orientation already weeks ago and she is going to Manila to get the stamp. Could anyone advise me what we need or what to expect when she goes to CFO in Manila for the stamp? I read several versions. One person said that she needs to fill up more forms other person said she need only her visa and passport only and it would take no more than 30 minutes. Sorry but I read so much of this and went over the website from beginning to end thousand times but I'm still paranoid. Could someone give me a personal experience and guide us on this? I'm more nervous than she is. Pls help.

    Thanks

    Bhes&heri

I went there two weeks ago for the same concern. Since she already finished the orientation and seminar, all she have to do is to present these to the authorized person, no fees required.

    Original and photocopy of Passport;

    Original and photocopy of visa;

    Original and photocopy of Immigrant Data Summary for US bound/ Confirmation of Permanent Residence for Canada bound/ Certification of Eligibility (for Japan-bound);

Original CFO guidance and counseling certificate

It will only take her a few minutes to stay (depending on the number of queries ) before she obtain the sticker and the dry seal on her passport.

  4. Does anyone know somebody from Quezon City Local Civil Registry Office who can help me to expedite the process of registration and able to get for me the transmittal/ advance endorsement for NSO?

My baby's appointment at USEM for CRBA and US Passport is on June 29. As you know the #1 requirement is the NSO COPY of her BC. I only have less than 3 weeks to get it but unfortunately Q.C. LCR said they process it in 1 month :( I'm losing hope now.

I hope somebody can help me.

Go to QC LCR. Bring the original birth certificate given to you by the midwife or hospital that assisted you in giving birth. Then ask the QC LCR to provide you a copy of transmittal report (proof that they already endorse the document to NSO). They will allow you to photocopy it. Then together with the 2 documents you have, go to NSO personally. There is a special place there for documents that need to expedite. Instead of waiting them to encode it to their system which will take 1-2 months, you will be the one who personally endorse it. Pay the BC fee, then go back on the date written on the receipts.

It also happen to me, after getting the raw documents, I went straight to NSO and personally endorse it. Ten days after, I already have it.

If this things will not work out in your case, go to NSO Office in EDZA. Just always bring the copy of BC given to you by your midwife or hospital.

  5. hello VJers i don't know if this is the right forum to post this but i really need your advice, this is not about me but about a friend that really need help and advice now, here's the story, my friend is under IR1, last week of last month we were so excited in our group talking and so excited about her flight, she supposed to fly going to US last june 5th, her husband was telling her he's going to send her money so that she have enough for her flight, they were both so excited her husband told her he's going to carry her at the airport and will spend the rest of his life with her and grow old with her, BUT a week before her flight her husband suddenly died, her world turned upside down she didn't know what to do and still don't know what to do now, i felt the pain she felt she wanted to hug her husband but can't, after 2 days she flew to US instead of june 5th so that she can see her husband, but it took few more days before she seen her husband, the question is i know she will be getting 10 years GC under IR1 visa, but her visa will expire on August 19th, now that her husband is dead she don't know how to get her GC, is it automatic delivered to her after few weeks or in definite time? or is there another process before she gets her GC? what if her visa expires and she didn't get her GC yet what will happen to her? she really don't know what to do and her mind is really messed up plus she really don't know anyone there in US, plus she can't get online because there's no internet on where she is now, only a common friend of us is telling me about her situation, i don't know what to answer to her question that is why i posted here, please i am so worried about her and i know she don't know how to face life now alone :( thank you in advance.

    CONTACT/ CALL CFO....

  6. If they see scar in your xray no matter how it got there, you will undergo sputum culture that delayed your visa process for almost 3 months.

Honestly, I don't find their facility sanitizing for sputum test and the way they acquired specimen for sputum culture. Most likely caught the disease than prevent it.

Thank you so much!!

  7. You can bring recent x-rays, but they will still take their own. Better to just leave them behind, if your x-rays show you're clear they won't believe it. If they think they see something in your's, that is the only time they're going to start believing it. I had my wife get a physical when we first applied for the K-1. She would get persistent coughs regularly and if she did have TB, we wanted to start treatment early if she had it. They found nothing on the x-rays or a sputum test but did tell her to quit burning the grass they cut on the lawn. Her persistent cough went away never to return after that. She still worried like crazy that something would show up in the medical, so I guess its natural to worry about it. You've been through your own doctors, you're going to be OK in your medical, just like my wife was. Also I told her not to bring her recent x-rays, as they could only cause confusion and problems.

Thank you very much for a very assuring words. It really appease my mind. :D :D

  8. No, not from family history. A suspicious chest x-ray will warrant a sputum test.

I agree with the other comments suggesting not bringing your own x-ray and TB skin test results.

Good luck with your medical! Best wishes!

OMG! Thank you so much for suggesting not to bring my own x-ray films as it may lead to confusing situation...I will really consider this.

If there are any spots on the x-ray, they will most likely require you to take the sputum test. If you have documentation there is a chance they will let you slide, but if there is something on your older x-rays, be prepared to take the test and having to wait for the culture results.

For St. Luke's the x-ray they take is the final authority.

    Thank you!!

  9. I doubt it. If you lung XRay is clear there shouldn't be a problem. They are really only looking for TB, and that has nothing to do with your family history. I doubt they will even ask much about any of those other diseases in your family history. They are only concerned about communicable diseases, asthma and the others you mentioned aren't communicable, so they should pose no problem. They only care about your immediate health, not any health problems your family might have.

I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure you will be fine.

Thank you so much. It make me feel relieve. :D

  10. Hello

I just want to get an insight about this situation and I hope you will help me......

My family has a history of lung diseases (uncle- asthma, auntie- pneumonia, father- emphysema). Fortunately I don't have any of these except mild scoliosis but its not required for any therapy according to the doctor. I already work for nine years and ANNUALLY, we undergo intensive medical/physical examination, just to make sure that we will start each year of work healthy and physically fit. Because of this, I know I don't have TB, history of TB or any other lung disease even when I was a kid. I still have the comprehensive result of these exams even x-ray films.

Is there a possibility that they will require me to undergo sputum test (for 8 weeks) just because of family history?

Please share me your opinion. I will highly appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  11. hi,

Yes my interview will be on june 11 but my husband can't come because of his hectic schedule and we need the money right now.

How about you?Is your husband will come?

Yes, he will visit me here this month and probably will stay for 2-3 weeks. I hope that he is still here when my interview day come.

Congrats and good luck for your interview. Let's pray that it turns out to be positive. Kindly share me your story after that. :star: :star: :star:

  12. Last May 26, I received an email from the NVC. It says....

The NVC completed its processing of __________________ visa petition.

The petition is waiting for an appointment to be scheduled at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in MANILA, PHILIPPINES. When an interview appointment is scheduled, the petitioner, principal applicant, designated agent, and attorney of record (if applicable) will be notified.

    Questions:

Is it possible for me to have my Medical Exam at St. Lukes even I don't have my interview date yet?

With this kind of letter, what month do you think they will schedule my interview? June or July?

    Please enlighten me.

    Thank you!

  13. Magandang Hapon/Good Afternoon. I am really not sure which forum to put this question on so I choose the "Finding Work in America" one. But I am bringing my fiance from the Philippines on a K1 visa, her career is as a Teacher. I am wondering how easy will it be for her to get a job as teacher in US, and I am also wondering if anyone else has done it and give us their story. Basically how they did it and the complications if any. Thank you

You can try World Education Services (WES)

    http://www.wes.org/

They evaluate credentials for those people's who earned degree outside US for its equivalent according to US standard.

  14. Just wanted to share my experience because I have read numeral times as to the reason why petitioner choose to file "single" and not "married filing jointly" is because they do not want to have their spouses mail their passport to US as it can result in a passport being lost. I was facing the same dilemma because I did not have her passport with me here and getting a certified copy or notarized + appostile in her country was too much hassle. Then I figured from the instruction of W7 that Passport is not the only supporting document. See the link:

    http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw7.pdf

If you submit an original valid passport (or a notarized or certified copy of a valid passport), you do not need to submit any other documents. Otherwise, you must submit at least two of the documents listed below. The documents must be current*, verify your identity (that is, contain your name).... and there is a list of supporting documents that you can send such as drivers license, birth certificate, voter id, etc...

Last time I came back, I took my wife's birth certificate with me as I needed that for DS-230 and then I also told my wife to mail me the voter id because losing a voter id in mail is better than losing a passport. I took both original to my bank and got them notarized and sent them with my W7 on March 5th with my return and today I already got her ITIN number in the mail (in just 2 weeks):thumbs: . Now just waiting to see a big fat deposit in my bank account  and filing return jointly would also help during her interview at the embassy.

    Hello!

    It's a very informative.

My question is...is it required to file as "married filing jointly" or has a choice to file as "single". What are the benefits of both filing? Is it true that the beneficiary should submit W-7?

    Thanks!

  16. Hey Guys ! any idia how long it takes to get passport in the philippines?my daughter was approved March 15 2012 until now she don't have passport yet and I think in 2 months she will go for her medical and interview.

visit this page... http://www.passport.com.ph/apply/start.... and have her appointment. It will only take 2- 3 weeks after her appearance in DFA or 10 days for RUSH request.

  17. please to download a W-7 form from irs.gov website, have a look, read the instructions.

in essence, that form is needed if yer husband wishes to file 'married filing jointly' .

The ID requirements (on you) are listed in the instructions.

Okay, thank you so much Darnell...please include us in your prayers.

  18. NVC is asking for the last 6 years of income tax returns,

so your casefile at NVC will be stalled for further processing until this packet is received from yer husband.

Filing is a straightforward process, the forms for the prior years are available online to download and print out from the IRS web site.

He might accrue penalties for not filing any return 3 years prior - ie

    2011 ok

    2010 ok

    2009 ok

    2008 - possible penalty

    2007 - possible penalty

    2006 - possible penalty

but usually the penalties accrue when the taxpayer (yer husband) OWES money to the IRS.

IMO, he should handle all this week, file what he needs, filing paper returns to the IRS but keeping complete copies of everything, as he has to submit this stuff to NVC.

If you two were married in 2011, he can file with a different status, of 'married filing jointly' but YOU need to sign the return and YOU need to complete a form W-7, including the ID requirements, get the signed return and the W-7 packet to him prior to him sending stuff off to the IRS.

    Good Luck !

yeah, your right we're stalled because of this and it's frustrating. But thank you for the idea of W-7. I don't know that but based on what I read in some forum, I'm aware that I have to sign something like that. Is it really necessary for me to have that form? and what are the ID requirements? How long do you think this entire process (from filing to IRS to NVC) ?
