oh wow good news
congrats
Congratulations to you, too!
-
I hope that everything goes swiftly and smoothly for you both, and thank you both for your good wishes! Peter and I are very fortunate.
-
THANK YOU to everyone here - reading all the various threads made this possible. Peter will write a review of the interview and LND, but I wanted to post my thanks, particularly to Saylin!

as of today i got everything sent to sveta every page the courts has. funny thing lawyer tallk sveta last week and asked how many times i was married and that reminded the lawyer a major slip up as sveta knew how many and reasons
YAY - good going!
Find a court runner or attorney service in the other states where the divorce was filed. Have them go to the courthouse and obtain certified copies (get 3 of each) and overnight them to you. Then DHL them to your fiancee.
EXCELLENT reminder that one can get documents stat this way.

Ron, the "hard" rule is that you MUST get the divorce decrees - all of them. Each and every one of them. You are required to prove that you are free to marry. Our government allows you ONE way to do that: you give them all prior marriage termination documents.
You are asking our government to grant you the privilege of bringing a foreigner here to marry you. The rules say that if you want them to consider your request, you must prove that you are free from all prior marriages - free to marry. Period. No other option. Anything you thought based on the number of lines on the form is wrong. If your attorney told you only the two most recent matter: wrong. You must get the documents, and you must do everything in your power to get them to her and to the embassy/consulate before her interview.
It does not matter how brief a marriage was, or how long ago, or how or why it was terminated: you MUST prove via a decree or certificate that it was legally ended - and ended legally. It is a) proof that you are, in fact, free to marry, and b) your fiancee MUST know about each and every one of these marriages, and how it ended, or the officer may think that your are defrauding her. Not everyone will marry someone who has been married and divorced many times - or marry someone who has had several prior wives, say, die from unknown causes. You are demonstrating the truth about your past, and proving you are free to marry the person you are bringing here to marry. The officer can and will ask her about all of your prior marriages and divorces, and the rules require you to provide proof of how they ended, and that they ended.
When you get each and every decree - and if you work it, you may be able to get them prior to her interview - everyone is right: make sure you scan and email copies to her, not just to your attorney, because if your attorney screws it up and fails to get them to the consulate or embassy in time, as least your fiance can bring them to her interview, along with the rest of the documents she is bringing, nothing out of the ordinary - and so demonstrate that she knows your history, in addition to being able to fulfill the documentation requirement. She can always explain that you misunderstood the form, if that is the case, but that everything is complete now - IF she has all the decrees with her.
Now is not the time to be confused and angry. Now is the time to say "Wow - I am lucky to find this out now, maybe in time to pull it out of the fire." Now is the time to cowboy up and get her the documents, to be the hero here, to make it happen for her. Good luck getting them!
"i can not beleive it i still had the docs." - do you mean you have found your other divorce decree?
Your original post says: "sveta has full copies of the last 2 divorces the others are in another state and sveta has visa interview in 1 week " - Have you found one missing decree, but still need to order another, for a total of 4? Are there others? Get them ALL.

I might be bringing my ferret with me on my trip and I'll schedule a vet appointment for when I return and bring sheet from the vets offices stating so.
I realize this is the least of your worries, and you may already have sussed this out, but be certain that it is legal to bring a ferret into any State and/or city here you plan to visit. California bans ferrets outright, while in NY, they are banned in the 5 boroughs, but legal in the rest of the State. It appears they are legal in Michigan, except in Grand Rapids, which defines them as wild animals which may not be kept. The laws regarding ferrets vary from State to State and city to city - some States require an import permit, others a permit to own, in some cities they must be spayed or neutered, etc. You might contact the American Ferret Association - although even their list of ferret laws by State and city dates from 2009. Fun!
Is it easy to cross a border with a member of the weasel family?

is it not key to include which embassy as part of the data? i assume - perhaps incorrectly, that while the NVC schedules all immediate family immigrant visas interview appointments, the number of available slots at each embassy will vary widely one from another. am i wrong in thinking that it is of no use to me to know when someone is scheduled in the philippines, and how long they waited, if i am waiting for an interview in london?
-
We are also waiting for an interview - joining the herd!

time during the wait at NVC seems to move far more slowly than even the drip drip drip of time at the uscis. i thought this - the ncv - would be the fast part, so now that it is NOT , it seems twice as slow. slower, even. i fear i will not see my husband until after our first anniversary, if it is true that we must wait for the end of september in the hope of an october interview date, but if october fills up, then must wait for the end of october in the hope of a late november date. i have to remember to count myself very lucky indeed that my husband can immigrate here at all, since for so many couples, including same-sex couples, it is unfairly not an option.
-
My husband sent his Visa application packet to NVC from London on 07/11/2012. The good news was that they reviewed it by July 23, the bad was that they sent us a checklist cover letter/RFE on 07/25/2012.
-
It is true that if AOS is denied after entering on the VWP, one can go back to one's home country and apply for the CR1/IR1. This was simply not the best choice for us. However small the risk, I could not bear the thought that someone could say NO, just because he or she felt like it, and because of something unnecessary that we had chosen - the one process with no appeal - and there would be NOTHING we could do about it but send him out of the country and start over. Your individual circumstances may make risking that - albeit a small risk - a much more attractive option than it was for us.
-
My response is only relevant if your husband came in on the Visa Waiver program. Stay and adjust? No, this was not for us, since there is no appeal from a denial of AOS if one entered on the VWP. We chose the most conservative path we could find, for our own peace of mind. It remains to be seen how the enforced separation has affected our relationship, but we chose not to add risk on the front end.
-
Hi Saylin! I see that we are not on your -NVC processing times spreadsheet. Are we missing timeline data? (And yes, I am stuck in one of those hurry-up-and-wait times, so am poking around looking for something I can DO.)
-
I hope to get a case complete on Monday and interview hopefully early August.
howdy raptor - we have our eyes on you, since we are running about one week behind you, and peter will also interview in london.
-
I have a feeling that "no news is good news" is NOT true in this situation. haha
How is everyone, any more news?
I hope our time is coming soon...
Does anyone have any fun/new ideas of passing this time??
I hate spending so much time away from my husband... since we first met we've never been apart more than 8 weeks or so and right now we are at a little more than 14 weeks. It's crazy how much I miss him (as I'm sure everyone here knows the feeling!!).
We're just waiting here with our fingers crossed. Hopefully June brings a LOT more January approvals!
just updating the thread - I am a January filer:
01/11/2012 NOA1
05/22/2012: I-130 NOA2: APPROVED! (Approved 130 days from the NOA1 date)
NVC
06/11/2012: Case received at NVC.
06/20/2012: Case #, IIN # received.
06/21/2012 Emailed DS-3032
06/21/2012: AOS Invoice, made payment "IN PROCESS"
06/22/2012: AOS Invoice: PAID
It seems that once your case gets INTO the system at the NVC, the case moves with some speed. It truly helps to join the NVC forum for the current month for tips and advice and calming information from Saylin!

In the scheme of things, Saylin, what you do here, helping us come to the States, or to bring family to the States, is a really big deal. You help us change our lives, doing this, in ways that will effect generations. It is weird: it is HUGE. It is excellent. THANK YOU for your help.
-
Hi Saylin - Not to be a mule, but what is the authority for emailing the DS-3032 in the first place?
-
Brilliant Saylin! THANK YOU! You really are saving my bacon here!
-
OK. Have read the guides and the NVC site again - let me see if I have understood:
If I understand correctly, once the beneficiary has emailed the DS-3032, I start haunting the NVC payment portal, trying to log on day and night until I succeed? (In other words, I do NOT wait for an email from NVC saying "We got your DS-3032" or "Your AOS bill is ready to be paid", since I may be able to log on and pay before they get around to emailing me?) Then I pay whichever bill is there to pay (the Affidavit of Support fee bill first, if I understand), print the resulting bar code and stick it on top of my AOS document pile, and then ship my Affidavit of Support package overnight to the NVC?
Then I go back to haunting the payment portal, logging on or trying to log on again until I am able to log on and pay the IV bill, at which point my beneficiary logs on, prints the barcode, slaps it on top of his IV docs, and ships the IV package from (in our case) London to the NVC? Can the beneficiary log onto the payment portal after I have paid and logged off and print the barcode, or will I have to print it when I pay and then scan it to him?
My apologies if this is blindingly obvious when you are actually doing it - I am trying to know what to do before, so I don't have to wing anything.
-
-
Thank you - (and i meant to ask when the beneficiary should send it, not when i should...)
London United Kingdom: CR-1 Visa came in 5 days
in United Kingdom
Posted
For anyone else wanting to know when people's actual visas arrive via courier, Peter was interviewed last Friday in London for a CR-1, and the courier brought his visa today, the following Thursday. 6 days - 4 business days. Phew. So fortunate. "Your mileage may vary."
