I'm a USC. My husband was a k1 visa holder before AOS

I think that regarding the evidence to prove your bonafide relationship you are pretty much set. Me and my husband didn't have jobs at the time of the interview or a lease on our name. As you can see we were approved even without that. But all cases are different and it all depends on the immigration officer. I wish you two the best of luck, I'm sure you will be fine!

Had the interview last week and they didn't ask us for any financial stuff I'm so relieved this part is done with. Thanks again

Thank you all! My husband received his green card in the mail today

Thanks for all the help! I had the interview done in Spanish so we didn't need anyone to translate. My sister did go and I asked the IO if I could have her( my sister) interpret and she said if you want I can do it in spanish. So she would've been able to translate for us if needed thanks again.

Congrats!
Thanks Jay-Kay
what are the proof asked from you?
Look at my timeline and you'll see a review:)

Hi VJ, I just want to thank all of those that helped me when replying kindly to my questions. Thanks to this awesome website and the users for making my "journey" a little bit easier. I'm so happy and ready for what's to come.

I was in the exact same boat as you guys. My husband didn't have ssn nor did we have a joint account. We had the interview last Friday and they didn't ask for anything just our documentation and pictures. Just explain your reason if your asked too. I'm sure you'll do fine good luck !

hi, vjs
We are having our AOS interview this friday. My husband doesnt speak english so I was thinking on bringing my sister as an interpreter. Will this be a problem since she is a family member? I have no one else to ask since its a friday and all my friends are busy working. Thanks in advance

Your parents can write up a simple letter and sign it stating that your family is currently living with them. You can certainly prepare the statement.
That's what we did.
Good, thanks so much for the info.

You can bring the baby If you want. But you don't have to. Lots of people don't change their names. Can you get a statement from your parents saying you live with them? You can also still get joint bank accounts even if you don't work.
Can this statement form be written by me and just signed by them or does it have to be notarized? How will we have a bank account if we don't have enough money?

Passport is fine.
great thanks for the quick answer

Wouldn't it be better to be able to give full attention to the interview rather than the infant?
Yes I was wondering that too. I just wanted to know in order to have a sitter for her. Thanks

Hi again VJ,
I have a question, when my husband entered the US the officers who processed his k1 visa were a bit confused. We got an I-94A and on the back it says EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION but the officers themselves were so confused as to what they were supposed to do. They never told us that we needed to get an ssn ( neither did we know we had to file for one)...I also searched on this site and I understood that we didn't need one until the green card arrived. Now we have our interview in August 10th, and well he doesn't have a CA ID because he needs to have a social security number...We still haven't received the EAD. So when we go can he just take his passport with him as an identification?
thanks in advance!

HI VJ,
My husband's AOS is currently pending, about a week ago we got the letter stating we will have the interview on August 10th, 2012. I have a couple of questions regarding what to take and do. Me and my husband have a 2 month old daughter, we were wondering if we can take her along to the interview? Also me and my husband don't have any joint accounts or bills due to the fact that I didn't work because of my pregnancy...and well he doesn't work here still because we have not yet received his work permit ( and we live with my parents for now, until we settle down). Will this affect us? We had money saved but it all went towards filing for the AOS and our newborn baby. Also, I haven't changed my last name after we got married because I was in bed rest on my last trimester and after my pregnancy due to the fact that I had a C-section. SO I will be going to the interview with my maiden name on all of my government issued identifications ( passport, California ID, and social security ) I hope this doesn't back fire on us. Thank you in advance for all the help.
sorry I posted too many questions at once

Me and my husband are currently applying for AOS but I'm a bit confused regarding the form I-864. I'm currently unemployed due to my pregnancy so my joint sponsor will be my sister which lives with me. Some say each of us should fill out a separate I-864 but from what I've read on the directions for the I-864A I think since we live together she should fill that one instead. My sister is single and has no dependents so my husband will be the only dependent she'll have. Should I fill out the I-864 for me since I'm the main sponsor and the I-864A for her? Thanks in advance

Just type it up in Word, staying as close to the layout of the original as you can. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. You just need to get the pertinent information on there. For the seal, just translate what the seal says. Put the certification at the bottom.
OK! Thanks for the help

If you, your husband or anyone you know is fluent in both Spanish and English, then they can do it. You just need to put the certification on there: http://www.visajourney.com/content/translations
But when translating it is there a layout I need to follow? Or is there a example template I can go by? I'm a bit confused. Thanks again

Hi Visa Journey! I would like to know where I can have my husband's birth certificate translated. Thanks in advance

Yes, people send in only the vaccination sheet they get from their medical(DS-3025) and don't get an RFE. Theirs are completed though. Unfortunately, since you went through Juarez, you do not have a completed DS-3025 vaccination sheet to send in instead of seeing a civil surgeon. You would definitely get an RFE because of that. I know it is frustrating. Some people just go ahead and do the medical just to get the I-693 and vaccinations they need done. You can try telling them the I-485(page4, #8) and I-693(page 4 #2 C.) instructions both state you do not need another medical if your medical was done within the last year. Tell them you can print out the instructions and bring them with you to prove it. You might need to try and call civil surgeons that are a little farther away from where you live. We found one willing to do my husband's without another medical that was a 2 hour drive away.
Juarez doesn't give vaccinations or a completed DS-3025 to K-1 applicants.
I know, I am so taking the whole I-693 so they could see we don't need another physical. We are driving two hours to see a couple of civil surgeons, by phone they all say the medical is needed. So I hope by going there and showing them what I'm talking about they will comprehend. Thanks again
-
Good luck on this. This was the bane of our existence. Even "civil surgeons" will have no idea what you are talking about, let alone their receptionists.
I've been calling all around and they all insist on needing another physical done. I'm so frustrated...I guess we need to spend more and more money. Did any of you get and RFE when sending only the vaccination supplement sheet?
-
Have you tried " immigration vaccination sheet to be filled out and signed by a doctor " when you call? Thats what worked for me when I was trying to call for information on prices.
GOOD, I will try this next time I call. Thanks
-
Hi to you all, I've been calling various places to ask about the form I-693 to be filled out by a civil surgeon. No one understands what I'm talking about, what exactly should I ask so they know what I need. Thanks again for all the help.
