  1. @OP Posted Today, 02:08 AM

It is getting close to 8 months now since the NOA1 and I just don't know what to do. I am not in the states, so I can't easily contact with the CSC by phone and I hate being helpless in this situation.

Why dont you call using Skype or open an USA Google Voice account and call them that was what i did during my process

  2. Well for my experience i spent 2 years in Guatemala as a "tourist" and when i sent my documents to NVC they sent me a RFE stating that i needed a Police Certificate from Guatemala, what i did was that i wrote a letter saying that i was not able by any chance to get this certificate and i explain them why, they accepted my letter and at the interview they did not question me about this neither

  3. I got a strange email from the NVC on Monday which caused a bit of a panic. The email explains that the NVC are reviewing my application and documents and attached a checklist for missing documents. Here is an extract:

    ______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________

The National Visa Center is waiting for an Immigrant Visa Application to be submitted for this case.

My question is: How can the NVC be reviewing my application if they say it was missing? There wouldn't have been an application to review!

I since found out that this is an auto generated email and that I should ignore it. I also found out that it is known as false checklist, however, I lost one day sleep over it and wondered why they sent it in the first place.

Well not all the time if a false checklist and i will tell you why, when i was in this step i also got a checklist email same as you i thought it was a false checklist and did not pay attention to it but guess what a few days later i called and they told me i was missing a police certificate, what i trying to explain here is that make sure that this is really a false checklist by calling NVC it can be a document that you are missing and they can tell you for sure by the phone hope this helps you

  4. You said you made one phone call to the USCIS. At what point in the months you were waiting did you place a call to them? And if you don't mind me asking...what did you say to them?

Well when we hit the 5 months mark on may 28 we called the day after to uscis and we choose the change of address option because thats the only way you can talk to a live person, the Phone representative asked us a few questions about our case and then she filed a request on the system saying that our case was out of normal processing then on may 31 they sent my wife(usc) an email saying that they have received the request about our case and that they will have a decision within the next 60 days but that same day at 8 pm they sent me the email about my approved petition that was all
