  1. Your partner once he has tested positive for Syphilis will always test positive (even after he has been successfully treated with meds) the virus can always be detected in your body with a simple blood test in your unfortunately he will always test positive.

My advice would be to get the medical care he needs and then allow the syphilis counts in his blood work system to reduced. So when they test him yes he will test positive for Syphilis but he will then have a successful record of treatment and a subsequent blood test which shows he has responded to the meds and his syphilis is reduced and successfully treated - which means it is no longer communicable for immigration purposes.

Not sure what the time line is for successful treatment but his healthcare provider should be able to advise him.(may be a few months between the blood tests).

Also do not forget to be honest on the medical questionnaire when asked about STDs, actually tell them and when you have proof of successful treatment it shouldn't be an issue.

Sorry to hear your news, hope everything gets sorted soon.

Syphilis is caused by a bacteria, not a virus. Yes the antibodies (not the bacteria) can remain in your blood for years and thus result in a positive test result.

Might the fact that the fiance has a current STD be a red flag as far as it being a bonafide committed marriage relationship?

  2. Hi there. I'm not in the process of AOS but I've researched it out the wazzoo so I'll answer you're questions. Please refrain from beating yourself with a base-ball bat.

You do not need to include a med report. You only should include A COPY of this: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/thailand/591452/iv/ds3025.pdf

If you do not have the DS-3025, then you will need to fill out the http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-693.pdf with the help of a Civil Surgeon.

You should be calling USCIS and asking them what you should do with the sealed envelope. As far as I know, that was supposed to be handed to the officials at the airport upon arrival so that they could send it off to USCIS. That sealed envelope is for USCIS only. When you call USCIS, Ask to speak with a Tier 2 Representative.

You should deffinately repair/replace your printer. That is prime reason for them to send you RFE.

Even though the got her SSC, you should keep in mind the I-94 is online. You can reference it online for in the future.

Hope I helped a little. Good luck.

Isn't the DS-3025 filled out by the Civil Surgeon and included in the medical report envelope that is turned over at the k-1 visa interview and ultimately forwarded in the packet that's given to the agents upon arrival?

  3. As a follow up, we went to the interview on the 12th of August, and everything was fine through the submission of forms, payment of fees, and fingerprinting. But then, after another hour of waiting for the actual interview, about four or five applicants were called up, including my fiancee'. They were told that due to technical problems, they couldn't be interviewed today and that they could come back on Wednesday. Seeing that Abu Dhabi is about 2 hours away from Dubai, that was not exactly convenient. My fiancée took it in stride, was able to change her work schedule, had to work a double shift on Tuesday, so got zero sleep Tuesday night (worked til 2:00AM, and had to be back out the door to catch a taxi at 5:00 AM). We got to the Embassy on Wednesday an hour early as our driver sped the whole way. We were first in line this time. The upshot, within an hour, she had her interview and was given a verbal approval. Only several simple questions, and they didn't even ask for any of our evidence of relationship/intent to marry. My 20 pound file all for nothing. hehe So I think that the prior week's closing probably had to do with that 2 day delay. But oh what a relief after the additional time and hassle.

  4. Typically they only reschedule the interviews on the days the Embassies are closed. They keep the current interviews on the days the Embassies are open and reschedule the interviews on the days the Embassies were closed at the soonest availability when slots are open. Everyone else who isn't scheduled for interviews gets backlogged.

Thanks for the encouraging reply. That sounds good for my fiancee and me, but that stinks for the others scheduled on the closed dates and and those pending interview dates.

  5. I just read that the US Embassies in the mideast, north africa, arab peninsula are closing until August 10th. My fiancee' is scheduled to have her interview on Monday August the 12th. I don't know how this will effect her, whether they may close additional days, or even if not if they will change her schedule due to the back up of processing. I'm supposed to fly to see her on Wednesday. crying.gif

  6. I would like some input regarding fiancé support documentation please......

I am self employed and a partner in 3 different businesses....I have filed an income tax return extension for 2012 and I do not receive the typical W2's or pay stubs.

Here is what I can provide-

2011 income tax returns that shows the 3 different business's and partnerships

Current letter of partnership in these business's

Copies of checks from income from these partnerships for the last 2 years

Copies of bank statements showing this income going into my personal bank account for the last 2 years

Copies of all my bank statements, investment accounts, life insurance showing my current assets

Verification of the current value of my house and mortgage balance... I have lots of equity

Will this be enough ??? anyone had problems with this sort of thing ?? My jobs and income documentation are not very normal but it is all there.

Any input on this would be great....just want to make sure I am doing as much as I can.

    Thanks,

    cjmc

If you want to include real estate, you should have a recent appraisal, and a copy of the deed showing you are the owner.

  7. I was updating the intent to marry letters for the visa interview. The first pair of letters were addressed to the Dept. of Homeland Security. Should I address the updated letters to the Department of State, to the specific embassy, or to both the Embassy and the Dept of Homeland Security?

I also plan to give some testimonial letters for my fiancee to take to the interview. Same question there too - who to address the letters to.

    Thanks.

  8. Hey guys,

So when filing a k1, what does the petitioner do if some of the 3yr of returns were filed jointly with an ex-spouse?

I'm leaning to a k1 visa now, and my last 3 filing years were with me ex as required by the IRS's rules. The 2014 filing will be me alone. I was and am a fulltime student with no income since 2011, I changed my career path and decided to get a 2nd degree. I have a co-sponsor lined up who makes well above the 125%.

So what do I do? My technical income was zero for me alone, yet it was a joint filing up until this year. Again next filing in 2014 is the first year we will be legally able to not file together since we split around new year 2013 and didn't make some cut off rule.

Do I include the old joint tax transcripts and just note my zero income, or can I safely list zero and send an explanation letter and not include anything? Or does a joint filing mean my ex's income needs to be listed as mine in the income box (weird but I don't know).

Sorry if this is obvious but it isn't obvious to me!

You could have filed a married-filing-separately return, but it's too late for that now (you can amend from a MFS return to a MFJ, but not the other way). So you will just have to give copies of the joint returns and include your income only on the affidavit of support.

The bigger issues are that you will be showing no income. I have heard others say that some consulates don't accept co-sponsors on K-1.

The other thing is, you just divorced this year and already are talking about K-1 6 months after divorce. When you say you split at New Year, I assume that is when your divorce was final. It might not be a bad idea to give more time to the relationship, and also to finish your school and have a job first.

  9. Agree. Many countries do not even have an ID system and would leave that blank, anyway.

    Thanks for the answer.

My fiancee's home country doesn't have one. My only reservation is if I enter the number, the form doesn't have a box to specify the country, unless it's assumed to be where currently residing. My inclination was that more information is better, so to just go ahead and put the UAE natl id number there whether the form requires it or not.

  10. On the form DS-157, under work history and education history, it specifies to add the date as mm-dd-yyyy. On the other forms, the month and year was all they requested. The problem is, is that my fiancee doesn't know the exact dates she started school or started and ended work. She has a graduation date on her diplomas that she can put down as the "to" date. Does anyone think it's a problem to put just the month and year anyway, on this form?

  11. Hello! I received NOA2 last June 7th but until now I dint receive anything from NVC re: case number. How do they inform you about case number? Did NVC sent petitioner an email or mail by post?

About packet 3 and 4 from abu dhabi consulate was sent thru email also? These are the forms you have to submit during the interview, appointment letter and instructions right?

    Thank you very much!

I called NVC and got my number, but it was just a matter of timing. They will send a letter in the mail. Anyway, you could try calling them.

When Abu Dhabi US Embassy gets the file, they will send you an email with two Word document files attached. One shows your appointment date with all the required documents to bring with, and the fees. The other is a list of authorized medical facilities for taking the medical exam. The email came from "Abu Dhabi, IV", with no subject description.

  12. First of all, you don't need the I-129F form itself at a visa interview; the interview would not be taking place had the petition not been approved. Secondly, the space to exchange documents is small, so anything you want to excnage would have to be removed from the binder.

You don't need this, an interview would not be taking place had the petition not been approved. The NOA2 is nothing more than the notice that the petition has been approved. All you are doing by including it is putting a piece of fluff in the file you are taking with you.

You aren't a K-1 petition filer so I guess this question isn't directed to you. The letter from the Embassy, specifically states to bring a copy of the I-129F, and pretty much everywhere else you read says to bring a copy ( see VJ guides, for example - and also I read a legal guide I got from the library that says the same). They don't give guidance on how to package it though. Also you are supposed to have a copy of the NOA2 as the other person above, stated. Maybe they won't ask for it, but don't want to be caught unprepared if they do.

Regarding the binder, that's why I was thinking of putting it into folders by major section rather than a hard binder. I just wanted to be sure that punching holes in it won't somehow invalidate the copy. I'm probably making too big a deal about it, and should just punch it and stick it in folders.

  13. When you go to the K-1 visa interview, you need to bring a copy of the I-129F as it was filed with USCIS. Is there any required or recommended way to bind it. The original filed with USCIS is 2-hole punched in the top and acco clip binded. But for the interview it seems would be better to 3-hole punch on the side and put in a binder or in folders by section maybe?

Any suggestions on how others did it?

    Thanks!

  14. If you have your NVC case number, click the link below to select immigrant type in your case number to check the status. It's possible your petition hasn't left the NVC yet. Sometimes they can hold it a little longer for background checks etc. But nonetheless check out the link. Or, if you prefer to talk to a live person call the NVC 603-334-0700.

    https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx

Thanks for the link. It says my case is ready and to wait to be notified of our appointment. Last status update is May 13th. That's four days after the guy on the phone said that it was sent.

  15. How do you find out if the us embassy at abu dhabi has your file yet? I tried to send email and it just got kicked back. They have an interface that only allows for specific types of inquiry and says that the interview date will come from NVC. I saw some people seem to find out just a few days after it left NVC that the embassy has received it. How do I find that out? I'm waiting two weeks now. Thanks.

  16. Hi! we just got our date for interview in Abu Dhabi - July 23...SOOO far ..lol

you will be automatically scheduled, and a letter will be sent to both partys via email. from what I am understanding, you dont send in anything at this point. Fill out all your DS forms, have pet and bene sign, originals, and all the other paperwork as listed on the appointment letter. he/she will pay all visa fee's at the appointment (240.00 USD - she MUST have U.S DOLLARS CASH, NOT Dirhams, NOT CREDIT CARD

let me know if you want me to send you mine, so you know what to expect...

it seems the embassy is in the square between 2nd Street, 30th Street, 29th Street and 33rd Street. As far as I know, there aren't too many hotels around there. You could try the Al Raha Beach Resort - WHICH IS very expensive or, for a cheaper option, maybe "the village" by onetoone hotels. The latter is off Salam Street. Anything on Al Salam Street will do - I personally LOVE the Royal International Hotel - 5 star and about 100/night cheaper on HOTELS.COM

Either way, you will have to take a taxi to the embassy in the morning. Traffic is Abu Dhabi is generally much better than in Dubai, but from either hotel I would allow at least an hour just to be on the safe side. I always get held up in Abu Dhabi traffic.

Also, Any taxi Driver will know where the embassys are.

Contact me for anything! GOOD LUCK!

    Thanks for your reply!
