On January 13th my fiancee pass her interview in Cambodia!!! woooooo hoooo. I am so excited and happy. What an amazing relief. I wish each of you the same result!! She was asked my name, my occupation, my sons name and about him, what I like to do, have I been married and when I got divorced, if I had come to visit her in Cambodia. how we met.

let me know what they say...i'm curious.
getting a new police record. This question didn't go past my local house of rep office. She said even with it only expiring two days before interview in her experience they'll want a fresh one. So, there's the answer that I fully expected really never hurts to ask around though. Good luck to you

Yes I will. I'll post it here soon as I know. I wouldn't give this a second thought except that it only expires 2 days early lol.. oh well, probably buy another for safety would be the smart way but i'm curious also. I'll see what they say.

Get in contact with the Embassy and let them know. They are the ones requesting this information and they are the ones who can say if they would accept it or not.
My thoughts also. Thank you for your time. Sure hope they'll accept it lol.. Mercy :\

Hi folks, I am so excited. we finally have our interview day But My fiancee made me aware that the police record is dated October 12. So that would put it expiring on Jan 12. :\ Well, there is a November 21 date also on the form it is the date under the stamped section that speaks of the official translation and for USA use only etc.. So what to do.. Is it going to be another police report or is this one going to be ok.. Thanks my friends.

This has been interesting to me for some time. I too kept reading that an engagement certificate was important, but I was educated enough to know that a "legal form" was not available for this. So, it's a money scam it seems. The USA embassy knowing this then, does it cause any problems in the interview? Since obviously all the certificate is really proof of is that the petitioner was scammed which I would think would raise an eyebrow or two.

yes it is nice to see others are waiting but i feel for us all. starting our sixth month tomorrow on the 14th. it's so frustrating but soon it will be good I hope.

I had the same problem, and I did write it in manually as previously suggested above

I never understood if the person initiating this thread had already sent the 129 in. If so, and say it's sitting in Vermont or where ever is there any chance of contacting the uscis with the honest story with intent to re submit information that will not include those kinds of e-mails. I don't know, just throwing out the idea. but if the problem is going to arrise in the interview versus in the USA process I wouldn't be afraid to be honest with them and ask. better than getting to the interview and flopping :\

LOL ah my bad i missed that post when i was reading through, no worries I'm just easily confused it seems
It's ok. I knew after that happened I'd have some confused people here. And I thought, hey I'm confused too so we'll all fit in just fine! LOL... But it's all legit, I was just helping him out.

I'm confused by the name change here, is this the original OP? you have 2 member accounts? or is this someone else lol
I explained in an earlier post that I made the account for my friend Randal. I'm teaching him to use this site, as well as to use his new computer. Trying to help him learn skype and facebook so he can have more evidence next time. No, lol not two accounts I just simply forgot we were signed into mine when he made that post. Sorry for the confusion ... Todd for real this time haha

Gosh, I don't know what to suggest, but I did want to pass on my commiserations.
Sorry this happened :crying:

"they called us a sham"
What was the stated reason for denial? You need to know why you were denied before you can proceed. You may be able to appeal, you may have to resubmit another petition.
Thank you for your advice. Yes I figured I should wait. I have heard from one person that it can take a very long time to appeal and probably should go ahead and re-file. that's why I came on here. this person confused me. Said appeals can take two years! Thanks for the help

Regardless of your income, you will need to complete a form I-134, then the co-sponsor will also fill in an I-134, plus all the extra supporting documentation. I can only really specify what I needed, different US countries around the world may need more. The good news is it's VERY black and white, in my experience it wasn't an issue at all that my now wife (the US Citizen) was unemployed because our co-sponsor met the guidelines. Basically they MUST make 125% of poverty, which depends on the household size, but if they make it on income alone, it's a much easier process. Feel free to pm me if you like we can discuss this further, I'm MORE than happy to help because I needed so much help from people on VJ for this. So yes the I-134 is the only Affidavit of Support you will need, but remember to include the necessary documentation to go along with it.
Good luck, and yes feel absolutely free to pm me!
Thank you and I will pm you sometime. thanks for the advice.

You might be surprised. If your line 22 total income on your 1040 was sufficient then they'll usually consider your affidavit of support to be sufficient. If you clear the minimum by a comfortable margin then they're even more likely to consider it sufficient. If you can submit three years of transcripts showing sufficient income each year then you probably have it clinched. You might not need to submit anything else.
On the other hand, if your line 22 total income is below the minimum then you'd need a pile of evidence to prove your income THIS year will be sufficient.
At most US consulates, packet 3 is the invitation to submit a visa application. Packet 4 is the visa interview appointment. Most consulates require the affidavit of support to be submitted at the time of the interview.
Thanks for the advice. Well I'm working on tax forms "I'm behind" unfortunately. My income might be below the required by a 1000 or 2000. Business really struggled the past three years but I have had steady improvement each year. One question is "how do assets play a role" I own a home worth 110,000. No morgage. I own half of another home my equity there being 60,000. a morgage still exist on that home but it is paid by the ex until we eventually sell the home. That was decided as we have a child. He's 14 now so that home will be sold soon. Anyway, how can I use this to offset my lower income?? Thanks to you for all your help
Thank you to everyone for the information. I'm on it ! I just kinda needed some steering here because mine is asset heavy and income low. thanks for all the advice.

I am wanting to know at what point in the process will I send the affidavit of support form in. I just received NOA1 this week. I am self employed and my financials will be somewhat more time consuming and complex than just turning in tax forms. Hoping I have some time here. Thanks

That's where I lost you?? What exactly are "engagement papers" ? Is this some type of Cambodian government form, or are you referring to the 129F/G-325A?
I'm not sure what to call these papers. I don't think engagement certificate is the right word. But more accurately maybe a written notice that the engagement happened on a certain date, and where, with written approval from parents and her brother. I used it in the 129f as proof for obvious reasons.

Corrected Version of What?
refering to a corrected version of the engagement papers they gave to me. If they can now be corrected, i don't know.
Fiancee passed. we got the visa!!!! :)
