  1. Thanks for the feedback-- it's very much appreciated.

Should I bother sending back the affidavit of support to the NVC (since I've paid the fee), and then inform them I will be doing an AOS with CIS instead? Would that speed up the process at all, or are they really unrelated?

& you're right-- the big news is my wife is here with me in the US  ; these are all minor details compared with this...

    Tx!

  2. Hi-

My wife is here with me in the US on a K3 visa, and is discussing doing an AOS in the US with the USCIS to obtain permanent residency status.

However, we had already started the process of applying for a CR1 visa via the NVC. At this point though, it would be highly impractical for her to have to return back to her home country to have it processed over there via the consular route.

I've paid the Affidavit of Support fee to the NVC and they have sent me form I-864 and D-230 to complete and send back.

Should we abondon the NVC route at this point (i.e. not return the forms) and just go with the AOS stateside?Could I follow both tracks simultaneously? Your advice & clarification of the options would be greatly appreciated.

    Tx!!!

  3. Hi everyone -

I am sure this has been touched upon before and I am sorry if I am asking the obvious but I wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem.

I came here on K3, received my EAD on March 10 and received my SSN the following week or March 17.

I have been offered a job and they are currently doing a BA (background check). However now there seems to be a problem with my SSN as it’s not recognized?

Has anyone experienced this before? And if so – is there anything I or the potential employer can do in the interim?

    Thanks for your help!
