  1. Once your case is with NVC and you have made a payment... you will get a receipt from NVC and it will tell you to use a cover sheet for submitting your documents.

For which you need to login to = http://ceac.state.gov/iv/

use your invoice number/case number etc and when you login.. You will have option to print your document cover sheet or email your document cover sheet.

You will receive a pdf via email which will have the barcode pertaining to your case number and the beneficiary's name. When you submit documents to

NVC you need print this and send it to them with your documents. This makes their life easier I think.

So this is the cover sheet.

  2. If you apply for renewal in the US.. they just put whatever address you want in ur indian passport. Also they would not need verification for address in

india and they only check for validity of your visa status in the US.

Given the fact that you are going to apply for an immigrant visa in future, you would need a passport police certificate. You definitely wont be

able to get a police certificate immediately if you apply for renewal outside India. The whole process will take a month or so in big cities and

    longer in rural areas.

The police data would be not available if passport was renewed in the US. In order to get PCC for the immigrant visa, you would need

valid police data. For which a policeman will come to your home and verify the existence of your husband via ration card, voters ID etc...

So If you apply for renewal in US, the PCC will take over a month in big cities. This is the cost.

If your husband has ration card, voters id etc... in Chennai and can have someone verify his existence at that address via 2 references. You can keep your

address in chennai, if may be his parents or family still lives there and renew the passport in chennai.

Or else you have to change all the forms of id and documentation to pune and then apply for renewal. This can take little time.

I recently got my PCC from Chennai and renewed my passport in SFO. It was a little pain...luckily I had the identification. Still the process was time consuming.

So my suggestion would be since you have lot of time before immigrant visa interview change all documentation to pune

and apply for it in Pune.PCC will be easier to get as well.

  4. Don't worry - this happens all the time. It means it was delivered to a box with no-one to sign for it, it will be picked up and signed for by the end of the day.

    \

Ya I second that...same happened with me as well ...it was just fine...keep tracking it in USPS site or you can sign up for auto update based on tracking number.when the package gets delivered or someone signs for it , you automatically get an email from USPS.

  5. i sent a package to NVC to complete my case. this got delayed due to holiday season... now the status on the USPS website says the following -

www.usps.com/redelivery or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice.

If this item is unclaimed after five days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated

periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.">

    Notice Left (Business Closed)

    PORTSMOUTH, NH 03801

Does this mean they have delivered the package or will NVC claim it the next business day?.Im little confused here. Can anyone please throw some light.

.Will it be redelivered on monday?.

    Fingers crossed :(

  6. OOPS I missed some information.

My visa category is an employment based follow to join.

I applied for I-824 which got approved a year back. NVC made some errors and It apparently sent it to USCIS again and it went through the re-approval process again.

The consular post abroad in the approval is Chennai(MDR).

But Chennai is not scheduling Immigrant visa interviews starting Jan 1 and all interviews are moved to Mumbai(BMB).

  7. Once the case gets completed at NVC...

Does NVC set up the appointment and then forward your file to the appropriate embassy

    (or)

will the file need to travel to the embassy and the embassy sends out a letter stating ur appointment.

how much time will it take to set up the interview?..

    How does this work?

    Please reply..

    Much Appreciated...Happy New Year!!!!

  8. I recently turned in all the documents to NVC.

How does one follow up to ensure your case gets completed and the interview is set up?.

My case was originally set up in chennai and I heard IV cases are being transferred to Mumbai from Chennai.

Any experiences please share. Thanks in advance.

  9. Must require to send physical documents. Will suggest you to send original instead of certified, as sometimes NVC dont like certified.

Use Fedex, it is faster from Chennai.

Is it an immigration visa application?

If yes, Chennai will no longer be doing immigration interviews from Jan, 2012.

yes its an immigrant visa... How long did it take for nvc to complete your case?. Would you mind sharing your email id for questions i would like to ask you offline or drop me a line at immigftj@gmail.com

  10. I am currently residing in Chennai(Madras-MDR),India.I am in the process of currently submitting paperwork to NVC. What is the fastest way to send paperwork to NVC?. Can this be done electronically via email OR should physical documents be sent to NVC at NH?. Also if someone can throw light on the turnaround time to setting up interview at the Chennai consulate?. Please advice.
