my daughter had her biometrics done in May and she had her interview in July, and did her oath taking last Sept 9th.

Code 3 letter back in April 2015---fingerprints 10 fingers, photo and signature
Code 1 letter today---fingerprints 10 fingers, photo and signature
maybe they changed his code 1 to code 3. I know code 1 is only prints and photo no signature.
-
Codes are for Biometric Technicians to use to what kind of prints they have to take from applicants. So code 1 is only fingerprints , code 2 is picture and thumb i guess and code 3 is for fingeprints, pictures and signature.
correction for code 2 - its the right index not the thumb

theyre the one who will send it to brunei, she also need to bring a copy of her passport and a fee (forgot how much). Once its ready, they will give her a call. just tell her to be patient coz people who works there will give her a roundabout. she needs to be there after 9 and not after 1pm coz they will not entertain her.

They will say that it might take for the clearance to be release up to 6 months but my mom get hers within more than a month.
Goodluck

It really depends....i.filed mine back in May last year, it took 7 months for USCIS to get it approved and now in NVC for 3 months and still waiting.....

once it gets to nvc you have to pay $88 for AOS and $280 for IV later. You also need to prepare about the medical fee which is about php10,200 i guess plus other expenses getting docs from nso, nbi

I got the same checklist for my I-864A. I leave the questions that are not applicable blank (both I864 & I896A) since it is the instruction in filling out I864 so I assume I864A would be the same. Got the checklist and was asked to re send a new filled up I 864A (put N/A for questions that are not applicable). I called NVC and asked why the checklist, the general instruction is to leave the field blank if the answer is not applicable, and the agent said that US Embassy in Manila are the one's who does not like the form not properly filled.

Email NVC requesting the MNL # this will give you a correspondence to use at SLEC. The guide I created may be for K-1 but the section on contacting NVC by email and required information will work in your case as well.
I did emailed them yesterday by following your link and I got a response today..will be sending this to my brother so my parents can get their medical done...
Thanks soooooo much Hank!!!

Im the petitioner and i filled out the DS 261 online for them..i have it printed out and would like to email it to my brother if my parents can use it to have the medical.done..i.got their MNL # by calling NVC a week ago....
-
Did you get a letter or email from NVC with the MNL # on it? If yes bring two copies of that to SLEC and you are good to go without having the interview scheduled.. St. Luke's asks for the NVC letter or the interview confirmation letter.
If you do not have a letter/email from NVC there is info in my link for getting an email from NVC with the MNL # in it.
Hello Hank,
Can my parents use the printed out DS 261 to get their medical done? It has their case# and their names on it...
Thanks,

NVC is getting behind now it seems due to USCIS processing applications faster for the most part. Good to know on the checklists! I think that I would have a freak out attack if I got one of those too!
Collie,
You might wanna call NVC today, I called them today and got my parents case#'s and IIN..

Hello,
Does anyone here requested a police clearance from Brunei Darussalam? I asked my Mom to go to their embassy in Makati Philippines and she was told that it will take them 3-4 months to respond to the request. Is there any way to expedite it?
Thanks all!

looking at the poverty guidelines, with a family size of 6 we are ok but if I will add my parents ( beneficiaries) i might need a co sponsor...Can my 20 yrs old twins be a co sponsor? they are part of the household....
Thanks!
-
I have no income because I am a stay at home mom, only my husband works and his income meets the poverty guidelines. We file taxes jointly. I sent the Affidavit of Support I-864 today along with the supporting documents. As my husband only the joint sponsor, I just followed the instruction #9 in the I-864 Instructions:
"If the person who is seeking the immigration of one or more of his/her relatives cannot meet the income requirements, a "joint sponsor" who can meet the requirements may submit a Form I-864 to sponsor all or some of the family members. "
In Form I-864, I put my husband's name on item #1. (I am the sponsor submitting this affidavit of support because..) then I checked the box on item 1d. "I'm the only joint sponsor," I filled out the rest of the forms about the income information based on our 2012 IRS transcript.
So, I will have to let you guys know if I receive an RFE letter asking me to send Form I-864 and I-864A.
How much did you pay for the AOS processing fee?
Thanks!

Welcome Peace500!!
Thank you. Even though I received my case # they're still not invoiced so I can't pay yet.
If you are working and you meet the poverty guideline then you do not need a joint sponsor. If you're unemployed or make less than the poverty guideline amount then you would need a joint sponsor (your husband or someone else).
So even if you file taxes jointly you don't need a co-sponsor unless you are unemployed or doesn't meet the poverty guideline.
221g - requesting early life documents for parents
in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America

asking for my friend - finally, after 6 years her parents got interviewed. They brought all the documents listed on the interview letter. The officer gave them the 221g form, asking for the provide the early life documents such as baptismal, school records etc. Her parents are 70+ years old, no recollection if they were baptized and didn't finished grade school. Has anyone here had the same experience? Why this officer to ask those documents?
