A friend of mine applied for 2013 through a friend and won 2013 DV lottery. Now he discovered that the guy that helped him made mistake in his DOB(date of birth)instead of 1988,he used 1980. What can he do to rectify this mistake? He is yet to send his form to KCC.

Thank you all for you advice . Its from this my job i intend to save some money for my up keep in USA and i plan to leave nigeria by june ending if given the Visa. If i leave where i am now, i may lose my job. What i want to know is, hope its not too late if i go and submit my passport by mid april? Though the caller said i can come anytime to submit it. I guess that when i will be in nigeria?

My wife got a call from the US embassy on 11th march asking us to come and collect our visa. This was after two interviews(DV Applicants),she told them i was outside the country and they said when i return back i should come over with our passports. I taught i would be in lagos before 29th march but my employer is saying i may stay till mid april before returning to nigeria. I am a bit worried now cos i dont the implication of the delay in submission of passports for visa. Should i mail the embassy if i cant make it before 1st april or i should just wait till i return to Nigeria. I am presently in Burkinafaso doing some telecoms related job for my company.

Well be of good cheer it is well. Because at least they gave you a list of what you need to bring in. So bring that they ask and all that you mentioned. Show beyond a doubt your relationship pictures everything. You will have VISA in had soon as you know it. Smile now.

Emailing the consular would be fine, just a courtesy follow-up.

sorry, never knew typing in CAPS is offensive. I intend to drop it with my wife cos i guess they may want to talk to a closer family member. But just want to know if emailiing them would make sense. Though i intend to also mail them my contact in burkinafaso once i get there,dats incase if i dont get reply before traveling

Interesting, but do you mind sharing a little more why you changed your marital status after a successful first interview as single? and what visa is this, a K-1 or DV visa.. your timeline is not completed. This can also help others answer you better based on ur type of visa.

Just from guessing, I think this is DV, and even so, why would you tell them you changed ur status after getting a visa? (did you think ur spouse will be able to come right away?) As for your travel, i think emailing them is fine.. email to the correct department (again, based on what visa)

at the consulate. And reference ur case number and also the point that you already brought up that you travel often and about to do so.

sorry, maybe i dint explain well. I applied 4 DV as single and married before winning in july. I mailed KCC and they changed my status and made my wife and baby beneficiaries. I have done the first and second interviews. After the 2nd interview, i was told the next information about my processing would be by call and i should always make my phone available. I told the interviewer that i travel alot and he assured me that i will get a reply before end of this week. Now,i may travel next week and my phone wont be available. Hope mailing them wont make it look as if am apprehensive about the result?

I APPLIED AS SINGLE BUT NOW MARRIED. I WENT FOR FIRST INTERVIEW AND IT WAS SUCCESSFUL BUT I WAS ASKED TO COME FOR THE SECOND ONE COS OF MY CHANGE IN MARITAL STATUS.

I DID MY SECOND INTERVIEW LAST WEEK THURSDAY AND I BELIVE IT WAS SUCCESSFUL EVEN THOUGH I WASNT TOLD ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WAS INTERVIEWED BY A NIGERIAN AND HE SAID HE ISNT IN THE POSITION TO SAY IF I WILL GET THE VISA OR NOT AND THAT I WOULD BE CALLED ANYTIME.I TOLD HIM THE NATURE OF MY JOB AND HOW I TRAVEL ALOT. HE SAID THAT WOULD BE PUT INTO CONSIDERATION BUT NOW I HAVENT GOTTEN ANY REPLY AND THE GUY SAID THE REPLY FROM THEM WOULD BE FROM CALLS (NOT EMAIL). NOW THE ISSUE IS THAT, THE NATURE OF MY WORK WARRANTS ME TO TRAVEL ROUND WEST AFRICA(TELECOMS). MY BOSS JUST TOLD ME NOW THAT I SHOULD PREPARE TO GO TO BURKINAFASO NEXTWEEK AND I COULD BE THERE FOR ATLEAST 6 WEEKS. I HAVENT RECEIVED ANY CALLS FROM THE EMBASSY AND MY MOBILE PHONE WONT BE AVAILABLE AS FROM NEXT WEEK.

PLEASE WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW? I WAS THINKING I SHOULD MAIL THEM AND LET THEM KNOW BUT I DONT WANT IT TO LOOK AS IF AM EAGER TO KNOW THE RESULTS OR APPREHENSIVE ABOUT THE OUTCOME.

When did the fee change? Per the Interview Preparatory Packet downloaded it shows the visa fee is $350. Can you tell me where you received this info so that I can look it up. Thanks!

all i know is $440 with effect from 2nd feb 2012

You can pay in either of the currencies ,I paid in dollars so that i dont get stucked in case the exchange rate is higher at the embassy but i saw some people,in fact many people paid in naira but at N165 per dollar(in January). The DV visa fees in now $440 per applicant

What visa did you apply for ? It seems that Lagos looks for any small reason to send you off without a visa at the first visit. They are fairly good at giving the visa at the second visit , althoug there are some disappointments.

Went for my interview 25 Jan 2011.I was denied the visa but they said i should provide family and baby pictures to prove my relationship status. I passed the education and job interview but when it came to relationship status,the lady that interviewed asked me when i first met my woman and where. I told her 2006 in calabar. she now said i have to come back on feb16th with family pictures and baby pictures to prove my point. I told her i have all the pictures with me but she refused to check them insisting i come back. I was depressed alot until my friend called me from US and told me that he went tru same issue and when he returned and provided all they asked,they gave him. so am hoping now and even looking for some tellers i used to send money to her then,more evidences of flights i booked for to come and see me in lagos,more pictures we took during our affairs etc. In the denial letter,they said i have insufficient document but i guess its because i provided only court cert. I have done the traditional wedding and promised my woman that we will do the white in lagos at my church when the baby is 1year old,it was then this DV lottery result came in.

Please do you have any one that has had my experience? i need to know and learn alot before the next interview cos as am writing you now am totally depressed.

please note that i applied as single but mailed KCC about my status and they made my woman and baby beneficiaries. my court wedding was dec2010 and traditional was feb 3rd
