After submitting the joint sponsor documents her visa has finally been approved!!! Yay! She's finally landing stateside this Friday. W00t!

My parents have agreed to be joint sponsors. We're finishing up the forms now. Will send them to my fiance so she can submit them. Then wait and see what happens.

Well, we got a 221(g) asking for a joint sponsor, which is ridiculous considering I make well more than 500% of the poverty line and documented it. They grilled my fiance up and down. They are convinced our relationship is genuine. So genuine in fact that she had to keep trying to make them understand that we're not already married. Soo frustrated! :/

Finally got our 'Packet 4'! Interview is set for June 19th.

Apparently the 'packet' is nos just an appointment letter and a reference to the consulate website to download / print the required forms. I'm guessing this is part of their cost savings attempts (like moving all phone/email support to the incompetent folks of VFS).

Stage cleared... Yay! The National Visa Center (NVC) forwarded the visa petition to the Mumbai Consulate this past Friday!!!! W00t!

We've contacted a senator, because well, ya know... Whatever might works... We'll see what happens. The longer it drags on the more it eats my head. Best of luck!

Called USCIS on Feb 15th (6mo + 3days). They informed me that VSC was theoretically processing Aug 21st. :/ They issued a service request for me and said that I should call back if I don't hear anything by Mar 1st. They mentioned that cases get assigned to agents and some agents are 'faster' then others..

5 months later and still no updates... :/

On the plus side, got to spend Christmas, New Years, and our second date-versary together. Downside, getting really close to 5 months without word and without appearing on the check my status page... :/ Our nerves are getting wracked. Praying things can get done for a May wedding... *crosses fingers*

Alas, no news yet. One thing that has been infuriating is that the "My Case Status" site has never shown our case. Unfortunately it "is not an uncommon problem for the Vermont Service Center" according to the agent I spoke with on the phone (to sanity check things since my fiance was getting nervous). I'll definitely update my timeline as things progress... ;-) Best of luck...
