  1. For some reason round-trip tickets are MUCH cheaper than 1-way ticets ($1000 vs $3000) from Japan. We're thinking about getting a round-trip ticket and just not using the flight back to Japan.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Will it affect her being able to enter the country if she has a return ticket she doesn't intend to use?

Will the airline be able to punish us for doing this?

    Your advice please!

  2. Hi everyone,

Our case is moving along steadily and we hope to have the interview scheduled soon. I'm a USC and my fiance is coming over on a K-1 visa.

My question is after we're married and get her permanent residence status, what happens if I take a job overseas and we live overseas for a few years and we later want to move back to the US? Will her permanent resident status allow us to get her back in the US easily or would I have to do an I-130? Anyone have experience with this?

Unfortunately getting dual citizenship seems kind of out of the question since Japan doesn't allow it.

  3. What will I do , when the one I Love is 6000 miles away ?

What will I do, when I still have to wait 6 months at least to be with her ?

What will I do, when I miss her so much .

Ohhhh Nooooooo ..... What will I do ?

I've been working on the house, building stuff for her craft work, saving money, working on the petition, developing my cooking skills, planning the finances, thinking about where to take her, the list goes on

the whole "woe is me" thing is totally unproductive. Besides, there's hundreds of other people doing the same thing on this site.

Oh, and if you've just filed I've got bad news for you. It's almost certainly going to take more than 6 months unless you have an expedite or something.

  4. APPROVED!!!! Yipee.. Today was my 6 month mark (CSC) my application was approved yesterday 4/16/2012. This morning I checked website and saw my approval. NO TEXT MESSAGE SENT :(. But oh well. Now taking a little break... Then on the roller coaster ride again.

Yeah, no text message for me yet either. If I hadn't filed a service request I wouldn't have known I was approved. They sent me an email saying they couldn't respond to my service request because my case was out of their jurisdiction because it had been approved. The website also says "pending" still even though it's been like 2 weeks now. NVC said they got it and already sent it to Japan.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is don't worry about the text, I bet things are moving like they're supposed to for you as well. :)

  5. Thanks everyone for your help and support.

Actually, I'm still very concerned about this NOA2. I still haven't gotten an official notice from the USCIS other than this brief reply to my service request. My status is listed as "pending" on the website and it still lists no "touches" since 9/27/11.

    Will try calling today.

Oh, and no email/text yet either.

    just called USCIS and NVC

USCIS says the case officer simply might have not updated case status yet and to allow 30 days

NVC says they haven't gotten the application and to try back in a week...

  7. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got this email from USCIS:

    "

    Subject: Your Recent Inquiry

Message: The status of this service request is:

The California Service Center (CSC) no longer has jurisdiction over this petition. This case was approved and notification was mailed to the address of record on 4/3/12.

This case has been forwarded to the National Visa Center. Please send any further correspondence to the following address: NVC, 31 Rochester Avenue, Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909. Direct any telephone inquiries to (603) 334-0700.

Haven't gotten an NOA2 email/text and the website still says "pending" but this email means that it's over, right!?

  8. If you have the names of the USCIS people you can report them. If not nothing you can really do cept hope they really did expedite your process since it was their mistake.

    Report USCIS Employee Misconduct

Anyone with knowledge or suspicion of criminal violations, misconduct, wasteful activities or allegations of civil rights or civil liberties abuse by a USCIS employee should report specific information such as date, time and location of the incident, the specific nature of the alleged misconduct, and the name(s) of employee(s) involved, to the DHS Office of the Inspector General (OIG) by any of the following ways:

Or by mail at the following address:

    Department of Homeland Security

Attn: Office of the Inspector General

    245 Murray Drive, Building 410 Stop: 2600

    Thanks!!

So glad I saved all their names and ID numbers. Need to talk to the congressman's office too.

Still, starting to feel like this story might have a happy ending...?

  9. My congressman did nothing. They kept saying they would do an inquiry, but ~10 days later the USCIS still acknowledged no involvement and told me to wait. At the same time I had finally got so sick of it all that I demanded to speak with a supervisor at the USCIS and basically chewed their ear off. Then they told me (despite saying 6 months is "normal" for a K-1) they would do a service request. Still nothing from that either.

I called my Senator and told them the situation, they apologized profusely and within 30 minutes they called me back to say that they got hold of the USCIS and found my application - it was "forgotten" sitting on a desk that belonged to someone who was transferred. They have given it top priority now and assure me it will be processed by Friday at the latest.

I am still furious with the USCIS and my congressman's office. What can I do? I wish I could have them fired.

The person in the Senator's office, however, will be getting flowers in the mail. (F)

  10. Still no case updates from USCIS. The immigration person at Congressman Peter Defazio's office is "on vacation" this week, so I called Senator Ron Wyden's office in Portland to get some answers. After faxing a signed letter authorizing them to contact the USCIS on my behalf they said they would instruct the USCIS to expedite my case. At this point I have little to no faith that this will actually accomplish anything. Getting really fed up with all this bureaucracy. I really want to barge into somebody's office and start yelling...

  11. March 29th will be 5 months after NOA1. I am, like most, wondering how some are getting their NOA2's in less than 5 months and others are in limbo? Don't have a clue what's going on? It seemed that VSC was getting the NOA2's a littler after 4 months. Now I see some folks getting their NOA2's when they got their NOA1's after me. I want to call to ask, but I am also keeping myself at bay until next Thursday when it's 5 months. Just very depressed that my application was last touched on the 3rd of November and nothing. When would it best to start calling?

    Thanks!

Been waiting over 6 months, hasn't been touched since 9/27. I think how long your case takes is largely luck of the draw. :(

when you get to 5 months you should try asking for a service request from the USCIS. If that doesn't do anything, contact your congressman.

  12. Still no touches or acknowledgement of the inquiry. Called USCIS and they FINALLY admitted that this was outside normal processing times. Gee!!! Ya think???? Complained and complained until I spoke with a higher-up and he said he'd do a service request. Feeling like maybe if I keep bitching and moaning I might eventually get to move on to the next step like everyone else.

  13. This is a known issue has been for some years - also why when you read the forums many people keep saying to not use the online case status checker as your only case reference. Always check the mail and call for updates.

Shoot, after reading their post I was hoping this was why my case hasn't moved forward... but I've called a couple times (including today) and they say it's still pending.
