  1. This morning when I went out of the house about 6:40am I saw in the middle of the road a USCIS truck with Texas license plates. I live in TN and I am, as far as I understand 100% legal. I am to complete the adjustment of status request. The only thing that alarms me is this USCIS personnel did not seem to try and contact me. I was too afraid to approach and since I was leaving the house anyway I just tried to carry on as normal and got in the car and went and did errands. When i returned, the truck was gone. Should I be concerned or is this standard procedure? I tried to do a search for similar cases but could not find anything on the internet but maybe it has something to do with the way I am trying to search for it.

  2. And what about bank statements showing the deposits, or copy of checks? Self employed is possible, but they rely on tax return as primary evidence of income. Bank statements and proof of deposit would come next, but you did not answer about deposits or check copies??? If nothing else comes along (maybe co-sponsor), you could always push interview into late Jan, and have your 2012 taxes filed by then...?

I hardly want to push the date that far back as the visa interview time is upon us. I can get deposits for sure, but as far as copies of the checks I do not believe so. Unless I can have his carbon copies copied? Thanks

  3. My mother gets money from the government in the form of unemployment and later will for disability. She was diagnosed with lupus so had to quit work and they allowed her to have unemployment until her disability goes through. Shes a wreck. I would never had thought I would need a sponsor or want one but after seeing that my employer cant provide us with any legit documents aside from signed computer typed documents of our payment history i worry they will be denied immediately. So the question.... Am i able to use a co-sponsor who is getting support from the gov? Im guessing no.

  4. no they will reject it immediately

are you doing legal work? there should be some record even if its not a fancy paystub

It is legal work but its out of his pocket and we are listed as subcontracters, so as self employed. Though he pays us as we were employees. I have no idea why, But there it is. The payments he gives us is just an excel sheet and he types them up with the pay and hours and stuff and writes the checks and puts them in an envelope. Though lately, he has been lazy i guess and just has us look over our time sheet and check our hours and then comfirm them, then he writes up a check. No stub. ####### am i to do?! ahhhhhh this far into the process and i get a "Nah, they will deny it immediately" fml

  5. My boss typed up a verification letter on microsoft and he also printed me off a page showing check amouts, dates, numbers, and stuff for my payment history instead of stubs since he doesnt issue stubs and just writes checks. He signed them both and gave them to me. Will the consulate except this? They look like printed leters just signed but nothing super official looking about them. Please advise.

  6. Just try to get a one way ticket on the same flight you'll get yours? One thing, though..... make sure that you get your ticket with enough time to face any events that may arise while in Brazil.

You need to keep in mind that:

    a) Passports, sometimes, take longer to be delivered than what then Embassy says

    b) When she gets her passport, she'll have to make sure ALL the information on the visa is correct. Printing mistakes happen more often that you would think, and this may cause an issue at POE is something there is not correct.

So, basically, try not to get a ticket for the day after the interview... try to get one for a few weeks after or so.

If she can fly by herself, without you; then that might be a very good option for you. It's your call.

See the problem is don't we HAVE to have roundtrip flights since i'm not a brazilian citezen and shes not an american citezen yet?

  7. How can my fiancé and I both book the same flight back? I am a total noob at this kind of thing so maybe its really easy, or maybe impossible. But how can me and my fiance book the same flight back?

    The situation:

I will be flying from America to meet her in RDJ

She will be flying to RDJ to meet me and we interview it up together

We need flights before this date obviously, since Its cheaper, and I need to meet her in RDJ.

Since I am not a Brazilian, i need a round trip ticket. Since shes not American she will need a round trip ticket too, and have it already.

    The Objective:

How can we both satisfy the law, having round trip tickets but make the same flight back to the US together, that we may fly together after the visa is granted?

    Thank you everyone in advance!!

  8. Here is the deal. I was in Brazil more or less all last year. So I do not have a nice looking tax return and I am working a new job since I got back in Dec. 2011. I make 11/hr doing cunstruction. But for whatever reason my boss has us all as self employed, like sub contractors for him. Though he pays us hourly. It says that if you are self employed you have to submit last years tax returns. I can and will do this but it will be #######. As last year I was not self emplyed and worked only a few months in the states. My savings is pretty weak, only over 1k, and I am barely over poverty I think.

    Also,

Can I claim a household size of 1 person when I am getting an apartment right before my fiance gets here so she can move in with me? I currently stay with family as to save money.

Sorry for the loaded questions. I thank you all in advance for the support and wisdom

  9. @Sollua

    Congratulation!

Just curious, if you check your case status on the USCIS website under K1 does it show that your case is now on NOA2 ?

When I check my status on the website it still indicate "Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again"

Last March when I called USCIS, the agent told me that they are slow to update the website. Its May already. Is the USCIS that slow in updating their website? The agent did told me that they received my application last Jan 2012.

It shows. I didnt at first though/

  10. Congratulations

We filed in Vermont 7 dec.

We are over 5 months and my fiancé called them today but they just said it's still in review. They didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.

That is what happened with us even a couple days after the 5 month mark. They said the exact same thing to us. Then yesterday, 3 days after the date was supposed to be given, we recieved it. So watch you get it tomorrow. :)

  11. Im just going to type up a letter for my boss to sign. Is this format fine.

I hereby verify that ___________ is a full-time employee at ________________ as a ______________ at the rate of ______________. He has worked for me for _________________ and is in good standing with the company.

    Sincerly,

    __________________________

    date

Think this is sufficient for proof of employment from my boss?

  12. Greetings VJ!

Here is the deal. I was in Brazil pretty much all last year and have nothing to show for my taxes as far as gross income for the year obviously. I came back to America and got a job as a sub contractor which means I am self employed. I make very good money, but my last year taxes wont reflect that. My contractor pays us from his account and gives us a check stub he writes up on his computer. We are claimed on his taxes and everything as sub contractors and such. I am worried that since i am self employed i have to send my taxes and it will reflect that i made insufficient money last year, and this year I make good money but i dont have much in way of savings. What should I do? Will this suffice?

Also, what type of letter should my boss write up showing I work for his company? I was hoping to find example letters to model my own after and just having my boss sign and date it. Please advise. This process is a hard one as we all very well know.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Nolan
