  1. hi everyone,So Happyyyy. i just called NVC and a lady told me your case is completed on 10th October, but when i asked her have you sent me a notice of completion , she said we don't send you email until interview time! is it true? NVC doesn't send applicants to announce their case is completed? can i believe my case is completed???

    thanks

That is okay, I was still calling and asking if it was completed every month for an entire year, I was afraid we would get to the interview and be missing something LOL. But everything was good, we were affected by retrogression, so I was always wanted to make sure we had the most current docs. our case was completed in January 2011, retrogression hit but we got the interview August 2012. They didnt even ask for my tax information for 2011, which I had ready to give them just in case. Congrats.

  2. Diana Please Help,

After years of waiting, my 19 year old sister and 3year old nephew are coming to the US this Saturday. They are going from Cali to Bogota via LAN (Friday night), then Delta from Bogota to JFK, then to Chicago, QUESTION: Is there a tax that they will have to pay to leave bogota??? anything else I should anticipate.FYI, the father was not ever in the Picture, embassy just asked why he wasnt on the birth certificate, she explained. She got all her papers/passport. Ready to Fly. So excited, want to make sure all goes ok.

    Thanks,

    Karen

Update they are here!!! well Im at work they are at home. 1) I sent them extra cash in case of taxes which they ended up not having to pay. 2) no issues with just one parent on the birth certificate, the baby has only her last name and no father is listed on the cerficate. My mom just had my sister get an extra stamp on the birth certificate for traveling. The dad never wanted to be in the picture even after my mom tried to get him to be involved. Oh well he is so cute and asked me whose taxi we were in (my car). Its weird though, waiting all these years now what...

This site has really helped me though, thanksssss

  4. I'm a citizen and my wife is a resident since 2009.

We are having a baby in November of this year and her whole family is in Colombia.

How can I bring my mother in law to visit??

    Thank you.

My mother applied for a tourist visa back in 2003, got denied. She said they stated she had no reason to return to colombia. I must say that it was the hardest thing because I really wanted to see her. When I became a citizen in 07, I applied for her. It took a little over a year to get her approved for a permanent visa. Can your wife become a citizen anytime soon? hope all works out.

  5. We were nervous about the costs as well. My sister (18)/nephew (2) got their visa approved 8/3/12. As far as the medicals, they saw Dr. Roa for physicals and Vaccines 8/1/12. Just in Vaccines for the 2 of them is was about 700.000 Pesos. they just brought their records but did not get any new ones recently. We were scared to get them before hand then get charged again.

  6. If you pick up the visa at a DHL location it's free, but I'm not sure how much it is, if any, to have it delivered.

    Diana

We GOTTTT ITT, yes my sister and nephew got their visa (waiting for DHL now) thanks for your help. And I got a place to move all of us in September 1st now just have to get their flights. How long do think it will take to get their visas in hand they are in Cali.

    Thanks again.

  7. It's really a personal decision. He usually accepts vaccines that have been taken within a week to two weeks before the exam, so if you see that a place like the Red Cross in Cali charges a lot less for them than what he does in his office, it would make sense to get them beforehand, or if they can get them for free through their EPS. If not, then you can call the doctor's office to find out how much they charge for the MMR, TD and varicella vaccines and tell them to bring that with them.

Also, people have been saying that they are now requiring the influenza vaccine which they didn't before so I did a bit more research and the USCIS says that it is only needed during flu season, which goes from 10/01 - 03/01. If you're medical exam is after these dates you don't need it but don't be surprised if the doctor says it is.

You can find more info here.

    Diana

Thanks, their physical is tomorrow. They will just bring their records, but didnt get any new vaccines before the physical didnt want to risk having to pay again. Will let you know how it goes.

    Thanks again.

  8. No, the instructions to register and pay any fees only apply for K visas. All other visa petitions are processed by the NVC and all fees are paid to them before the interview.

    Diana

Thanks so much you just made my day. So stressing with this and looking for a new place to fit everyone !!!! going crazy. Im sending her more money today, worried that she wont have enough for the medicals, my sister 18 and nephew 2. My nephew got the TB test yesterday, sister going for blood test today. Physicals tomorrow. thank you thank you. So far she has 900.000 pesos. Can you tell me how much it costs for them to deliver the Visa? thank you for your help. This is like the only place I have to go since we didnt use an attorney.

  9. I dont think my other question posted. My sister has her interview this friday 8/3/12, she is in bogota for medicals. When I go to the intruction link from the interview letter and click on the link for preparation for the interview, it says that we have to First - Register ( asks for passport and other info), but we already paid fees and are scheduled for interview, does this apply to us? please help.

http://colombia.usvisa-info.com this is the link. Should I have my mom do this now?

  10. So what should I do, my sister and her 2 year old have an appointments with Dr. Roa the week of 7/30/12. We thought we would just pay to get them current on shots in Cali before they go. Gosh money is so tight, I guess that the doctor told my sister to bring an extra 600.000 pesos just in case she needs extra vaccines, so is he going to honor the ones we get in Cali or what?

    Please help.

  11. Hello All,

We are getting ready for my sisters interview 8/3/12. I had previosly submitted the affidavit of support for her as a joint sponsor, my income will no longer meet the requirements at the time of the interview. My boyfriend of 10 years and father of my children (hopefully future husband lol) is willing to do the affidavit of support, he has supported me through bringing my mother and now sister. Should I have him be the second joint sponsor or just have him be the only joint sponsor, I dont think that we can combine mine and his income since we are not married. Also, what will his relationship be to her? I claim the kids, so it would just be his income $36k plus my sister/nephew. What do you think? fyi, we live in same residence. He would be filling out the I-864.

    Thanks.

  12. What if I petition my parents to come here in the USA by next year, possibly they will become LPR. Once LPR, they would like to petition my 17 year old sister. Can they petition right away? or wait couple years to file a petition? I would like to know ow many years exactly theey have to wait in order to bring their under 21 child in the US?

I would have them petition right away, my mom came in February 2009, she didnt apply for my sister until March 2010, we are hoping to get an interview this August 2012. But who knows maybe if we would have applied right away in 2009 we could have received an interview before the retrogression or at least by now. Also, her being 17 is important that you file right away!!!. My sister is 18 now, was 16 when we applied. Good Luck.
