  1. Am I the only one from Nov 12 still without green card? We received notice last month that our case had FINALLY been forwarded to New Orleans field office. Spoke to Tier 2 officer shortly after and was informed it had arrived there in Dec and I should get an interview date within 4 months (this is despite getting the interview waiver letter 6 months ago). It's March now and still no interview date...

Never in a million years did I expect this process to take 17 months (and that's just so far, with no end in sight...)

Is anyone else still waiting or am I the only one? cray5ol.gif

  2. Yes, I explained that I had previously mistakenly sent in the original copy of the noa1 and so they should actually have it on file and I was sending biometrics letter and request for initial evidence relating to my i485 which serves the same purpose of proving i have a pending case.

I called this morning and was told the average processing time is 75 days right now for i765. after 75 days you can submit a service request.

did you include in you cover letter that your I-485 noa was missing

  3. god, is this place being run by idiots or what?! i hope their mistake doesn't cost you any more time.

i received NOA a week or so after mailing my renewal package. i also included biometrics letters and responses to previous service requests regarding my i-485 as i stupidly sent the original NOA with my AOS package. doh! fingers crossed this will be acceptable, again i called and explained and they said it should be fine, but one hand doesn't know what the other is doing at uscis, so i wouldn't be surprised if i have to shell out $400 for a new copy.

i have my own photography business established now and am having to turn down working for the new year as my card expires jan 14th and so far i have no idea if i'll be able to legally work after that. i have clients booked for march through to december next year and i have no idea if i'll be able to do it - this is people's wedding photos i'm supposed to take, i don't want to, and can't afford to mess them around. i never thought it would come to this, having done everything the correct and legal way. meanwhile people who applied months and months later already have their green cards! i'm so mad i can't even tell you.

oh, and my first ever niece or nephew is due to be born in england in january and i won't be able to go see him/her (we don't know yet!) until.... who knows. not a happy kitty.

They send the package back because i didn't send the check i call them and told them that i was a c-9 case and that it was free because my aos still pending. They told me to wait for a letter and send the package again.

  4. Yup, I'm aware, that's why I'm so mad/sad! I submitted one service request that wasn't responded to within 45 days, so i had to submit another one and this letter arrived a few days later. It states that it serves as a response to any enquiries that have been made into the case. My congressman's office is also looking into but I assume they will now just come back and say that USCIS sent me this letter and that's my update... we'll see. As far as i know my case is still at the NBC (that's what it says when I log in to case status updates).Totally out of line that my local office is handling applications submitted 3 months after mine.

New orleans is processing January applications, dis you file a service request?

  5. Aaaaaaaand today I got the letter saying my case has been identified as a potential interview waiver case but that "due to workload factors not related to your case... we anticipate the delay to be approximately 6 months from the date of this letter".

Most hilarious of all, the final line "I sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by this situation (you mean, waiting potentially 16 months for my green card when others got theres in 3 months?), and appreciate your patience as we work diligently to provide the level of service you should expect". Hahahahahahaha. Good one guys.

    Feeling very unlucky today :((((

  6. Congrats Paula & Anthony!!!!!

I still have nothing. I called today and the agent admitted even my Service Request is now outside of normal processing times, it should have been responded to within 30 days (it's been 35). so she submitted a SECOND one, noting that i've heard nothing. she sounded on my side but i'm not naive enough to think that makes a difference... she said new orleans office is working on january 13 applications, and i'm a november 12 filer... ridiculous. i'm finding this really stressful now :(

  7. i'm in exactly the same position! except my congressman didn't even acknowledge my letter...

it's been 30 days since my service request that was supposed to yield a reply within 15 days...

    hope we both hear soon!

Am I the only one that did not get a reply? They didn't even reply my service request. It's so frustrating.
I contacted my Congressman but only got an automatic message saying that he got my e-mail.

    So sad..

  8. That's good and I hope it propels them to deal with your case... but they said the same thing to me and nothing happened within 15 days so I called back and they said to wait another 45 days! They said the NBC is not only behind with the cases, they are behind with the service requests (which i guess follows)... it's soooooo frustrating!

I am a November filer, priority date 19 November, We have not heard anything since doing biometrics in December. We put in E-request 19 July and told to wait 4 weeks and then to call them. Today, we called USCIS, (got through straightaway) A very nice lady said she would put in a service request for us and to wait 15 days and if we do not hear anything to call them back. So we will see.

  9. Well, it's been 15 days since they placed a service request for me, which is when they told me to call back if i hadn't heard anything. So i did. They guy said my SR was assigned to someone at NBC to respond to on Aug 7th. Not even to deal with my case necessarily, just the SR. He said to "just keep calling back" to see if there's an update. So the 15 days thing, like everything else, is just a totally arbitrary number. I didn't event think about my pending AOS for the first 6 months but now it's really starting to get me down :(

  10. i'm still waiting! filed november 19, they received my response to request for initial evidence (co-sponsor's passport) december 19th. i called yesterday and the guy said my case was out of normal processing time so submitted a service request for me, said to call back if i hear nothing in 15 days. #lesigh

For the record, I'm noticing a strong correlation between people requested information after their case is past the due time and then receiving card production emails, as if they prioritise those if there is a chase on them. If you haven't yet prodded to see where your case is I suggest you do!

I can see there are some cases that are unfortunately still stuck in the system though. Good Luck to those still waiting!

  11. Thanks everyone!

We went in Atlanta for the interview! The Biometrics appointment was in Metairie, LA but I don't think they do interviews there or at least everyone I know from my area had their interview in Atlanta! It's all done for now and we are so happy and relaxed!

    Wish you all good luck!

Woah.. really? You live in Louisiana and you had to go to Georgia for the interview? I had no idea. There are reviews for AOS interviews at the NOLA office but not since 2012. Hmmm. Well now I really hope I DON'T get an interview anytime soon, since my husband is in his 4th year of Medical School, working 100 hours a week on-call, and a few days in Atlanta is just not an option! In fact it's impossible. :help: Now I just hope that the theory UK AOS peeps wait longer but dont get an interview proves to be true!

  12. APPROVED!!!

I can't believe it went so easy! The officer didn't even ask a single question different than the application questions! He asked my husband about his date of birth and address and me the same questions and the date and place of our marriage! Then he asked if we have any papers to submit to our file and I gave him our tax returns for 2012 and my husbands health insurance with my name on it and that was it! We had like 15 random pictures with friends from summer parties and Christmas and he just took a look at some of them! At one of the pictures I am holding my husbands baby-niece and he asked who is the baby. My husband said its his niece and that was the whole thing! The officer turned around and printed some stuff, took my I-94 and asked if we have any questions about the conditional green card. We said no and he put the stamp on the aplication "Approved"!!! Gave me the letter and wished us nice day!

CONGRATS! This was in Metairie, right? That's where I'll be going if I ever get an interview.

  13. Is he adjusting from K1 too? I think it's ridiculous that K1 people seem to have to wait so much longer than everyone else to get our green card, when we did everything the right way and already waited all that time back home, when people adjusting from VWP get their green cards through in 2 months... Makes a totally mockery of the system. Just my frustrated 2 cents, and I only applied in November, you must be going insane! Good luck.
