  1. Hi everyone!

Here are some good news, we got married just last week and got the copies of our marriage right yesterday!! Yahooo!very happy! However the wedding itself as a big ceremony gonna happen in February.

Our situation is that we want to do the adjustment of status as soon as possible because I need to go back to Russia in the end of March to my mom because of her health condition. Do not wanna be too late on that. So now we filled all the papers, but it seems before applying for the adjustment, I still need to change the social securuty card. I got one when I was on a J1 visa just for a seasonal work, but now we are married and need to change the last name there. Our local office is located in Houston. If to mail the ss5 form and proof documents, it will take up to two weeks just to change some information. Is it possible to do this process faster if we just go to this office by our own? Or I was thinking, is it possible to apply for adjustment of status without this social security step...or somehow to ask USCIS to proceed first the doc that will allow to go outside of the USA and gives permission to go back and then will work on the adjustment of status..so you see very confused and do not know the answers. Was on a line for 20 minutes to talk to social security toll on the phone, but was not successful, too much waiting.

Maube here someone can gve a good advice? Thank you guys

  2. Hi everyone! I do not really know if that is the right place to write, but I have a little question to make sure what I need to do. My fiancé is visiting me this Christmas to Russia and I want to sent him the invitation. So I need to know what kind of invitation it should be. I mean should it be just written in word doc and then emailed to him or it should be stamped as well and signed by some officials? Before it was enough to have an invitation from a hotel, but now he stays with our family at home. Thank you for any help. Have everyone a good Sunday!:)

  3. Hi!

It is any higher education that used to be for five years in Russia. Specialists can be in teaching , in mathematics, physics, English etc.. same with engineers and other technical higher specializations.

In Russia in order to get your bachelor, you need to study no less than four years, it is considered to be a higher professional education. Speicalist had to study no less than 5 years. However, after 31 December 2010 Russia accepted bachelor and master systems ( Bologna process)

  4. This doesnt make sense, they dont have to reject and send you back the entire packet. They could have just given you a RFE. If you dont mind me asking, did they charge you with the application fee? If yes, then you will have to pay again.

Nope, they did not charge and they sent the docs back. also find it weird, also was thinking about RFE, but I guess they just did not want to keep it. In the rejection letter they pointed the reason, so it is the only one doc.

  5. Hi everybody!!

After one month of nothing, there are some news, the petition came back because of one mossing doc..

We are not discouraged, just feel sad that it seems taking much longer than we expected. We will send the petition again next week, but here is a question:

The petition itself with all the docs was dated late November 2011, now with this situation, we just want to add the doc missing and send it back..do we need to fill all over again and put the fresh dates?

  6. by the way, dont even try to call uscis cause they dont do anything ;;; they dont care at all

    about emails request,

if your check is cashed and your apllication is on system that means all is ok

    just be patient ....

there is no logic for application .... it's about luck thats it

wish you gd luck and hope you hear soon about your noa1

Thanks for your support. We are trying to be patient, we just did not expect that weird waiting for the only noa1. and now dont know if we ever get it.

  7. Was a form G-1145 included? That form sets things up for electronic notification.

Did they give the receipt number? I would not worry too much if you have the receipt number; EAC Vermont Service Center, WAC California Service Center.

Texas is not a service center that is just the lockbox to mail the petition too.

Yep, this is the thing. I know that the form for electronic notification was included. So it seems did not help, because nothing came electronically either.

Then we do know, that they got it, because the check was cashed. So it seems that he sent the petition to the right address. But I dont know about the recept number, I should ask him. What we should do now? keep calling or just waiting? really, 36 days I think is quite a long time for noa1 though..

  8. Hello VisaJourney members,

I know it is a quite often asked question and there are some people who have not gotten their noa1 for quite a long time. Still so concerned about it.. In our case, my fiance sent the documents to Texas USCIS office back in Dec.19, 2011 and if to count days we have not heard anything more than a month. I do not wanna stress him so much asking about this that is why I am hoping that somebody here had similar situation and can explain what to do..

We know though ( after a call to USCIS operators) that we are in their system and check is cashed. But nothing came electronically either by mail. When my honey called them like couple of weeks ago, they promised to send noa1 in couple of days, but still there is nothing from them. I really find it weird. The petition was sent with all supporive docs and I dont have any idea why it takes forever.

I will be very happy if somebody can explain what is happening and probably there are people out there with similar experiences and can share their thoughts on it? Thanks for any piece of advice
