  1. Thanks for your responses, yeah it was odd not having to turn anything in at the k1 interview. They even chuckled when I asked over the phone if I needed to fill out the I 134, whole different thing than I had read on here, but Costa Rica is a pretty laid back embassy...lol......It does feel kinda silly having to fill out of this to say you have no income...lol......oh well............thanks again!

  2. For the k1 AOS, if my father was the only sponsor supporting my (then)fiance when we did the K1, as I am not employed, I stay home with our baby, I did not have to turn ANYTHING in from myself at our embassy interview.

Now we are married, and my father (his now, father in law :))is still going to be the ONLY sponsor. We are unsure which he should check on form I 864, Part 1, Question 1.

BTW he is also retired, which was no problem with k1, as he still receives well over the poverty limit, so I guess then, I have another question,...Does he turn in the same forms he turned in the first time around?,

(which was different than someone who is employed.... He only had to have statements and/or deposits showing his monthly pension coming in, obviously no letter from employer, etc etc.)What about tax info? He has been retired for a year now.

Also is it still the same situation, I myself turn in NOTHING, being unemployed?? Any help would be appreciated!

  3. I sent in a photo copy of final divorce decree with our K1 petition....it was just a simple page signed by the judge...not much to it.......pretty pathetic looking really...just followed k1 instructions here on VJ....no RFEs......we are about to go to interview, and i see they might need to see original there, so we have that in our packet ready to go...........just saying what WE did.......good luck! you might not even get an RFE! I like the above idea by "pushbrk"of sending a COPY now, it cant hurt!

  4. that sucks! I got no RFEs...what i did was I just wrote the date on the back of each photo ( month and year) and everyone's names, and location it was taken ,...and only sent in my (USC) passport copies, they asked for beneficiary's???.....and why does it matter so much on the letter of intent where the date is? geez......picky picky picky.. just make sure you send everything EXACTLY as they ask....

  5. My fiance is a colombian citizen, and we are doing the K1 process, he is currently living in Costa Rica. There should not be a problem. We DID have to get all the same papers, (single certificate, police record, etc) from his home country as well, so double the work in that area. I think there is a problem if you are in that country illegaly, but I could be wrong on that. Call your embassy, and USCIS before anything.

  6. thanks everyone! yeah i was surprised, USCIS were very nice, and helpful, AND took time to answer my questions, and explain a little bit..........too bad they take 5 months to give NOA2s!!!!!!! lol.........

@Leonardo, I know i pressed 1 for english, 1 for case status info, and another number for "if you forgot, or cannot find your receipt number" they then answered very quickly from there , the officer introduced himself asked me for my receipt number, which i gave them, they then tell me they cannot find my number, they asked me a few questions, my DOB, etc. then pass me to another officer, who verifies I am who i am again, and finds my case(on whatever system that is ACTUALLY accurate) and told me what he knew was happening with us.........same thing happened all three times........

  7. @Leonardo, I think thats the number i called...the same number on the NOA1.........cant imagine why no one would talk to you, you of course have to go through the phone menu, try skipping through it as if you do not know your case number, you will reach someone.

One reason i did not sign up for text/email alerts is because i was in costa rica at the time, and had none of them available......at least none that i could ever rely on....lol

  8. K1 petition NOA2 yay! Dont be afraid to keep calling USCIS! I have called several times, Because my case # "was not valid" on the USCIS website OR their phone menu... Well, 2-3 weeks ago they tell me my petition "has no red flags" and was just waiting for an officer to actually place the approval on it.......I was surprised to hear him tell me so much, but did not want to get my hopes up anyway..........

I called yesterday, and they tell me it has been approved, and mailed out, have not received it in the mail, btw, I did not sign up for email alerts either.......but SOOO glad i kept calling........... :D I am waiting to update my timeline until I have the actual date on the paper...

  9. I called the USCIS the other day, because i sent my petition in august, I got my NOA1 in the snail mail btw, did not sign up for email alerts. I decided to check with my receipt number the other day for the first time, and it also said, that my case number is not valid, (or something similar) needless to say, i was a little freaked out, :o

I called USCIS, and tried my receipt number on the phone menu, AGAIN, i was told it was invalid, I called back again, and went through the menu, as " i do not know my receipt number" , and spoke with someone, who, AGAIN tells me my number is not valid, (scary) then she says, "hmm, i dont know, let me transfer you to someone else" the next man was very helpful and nice, asked my name, DOB, and says "oh, okay, are you petitioning for (my fiance's name)? And i said yes, he says my petition IS THERE. AND NOT TO WORRY, that this just happens sometimes... (they probably dont update the system WE can see very often, Im assuming)

.........but you do realize this NOA2 approval takes around 5 months? Did you see that they cashed the check? I would call if I were you..Probably the same thing that happened with mine......

  10. Hi, hoping someone has experience with this, we are awaiting the NOA2, my fiance is originally colombian, (living in costa rica)

He has NO vaccine records AT ALL :( In colombia, they do them through your public school, and his mom, well, never saved any records,...sooo,

I have heard you can get them from a pharmacy, (private docs where he lives, do not give immunizations) and bring those pharmacy papers into the medical exam with you, that it would be alot cheaper that way, I called the embassy there yesterday just to ask, and they said, that he CANNOT do this, it would HAVE to be with the Dr. they send him too......around $400!!!! or so........anyone know what to do? I feel like having him get them anyway, and just hope for the best, but then again, they might not accept those papers and it would end up costing more....has anyone gone through this?
