  1. I've been reading on a few posts of people being asked show the originals of things they have sent in with their application. In our appointment letter, it just says to bring the letter in hand and photo ID. Should we also bring originals, pictures, letters, etc???

Also, do they let us know that day whether we are approved or not? (unoffically) Or is that done months later with a letter in the mail?

  2. We have done it all ourselves and we have just received our permanent green card! YAY! no more paperwork for 10 years!! my husband came into the usa on a k1 visa. it is absolutely doable by yourself- take great advantage of visajourney. my husband and i have tried a lot of different websites and used all the information from here- of course, don't forget about uscis.gov! ask any question at all, and you are sure to receive a helpful, useful answer from other experienced members. I cannot give this website enough credit- it is wonderful and so are the members!

  3. Well, thank you all so much for every single feedback!

I knew the chances of something other than marriage, work, education would be slim but I thought I'd give it a shot for them! I know, we all know, how hard it is to be apart from our loved ones. Everyday I think how lucky I am that everything has worked out for my husband and I!

Their life situation is a really long confusing story- i really wanted to help them out and give them a hopeful response.

    But again-- THANKS anyway!!

  4. Thanks All!!

He doesn't want to move to the UK even though he does have dual citizenship- he got things ttooooo good here in the states!

    She is not a student

    She doesn't have many qualifications

She would come here for 3 months and take a trip to canada every now and then to get her vistors visa renewed, but they would catch on to that after awhile. I heard through the grapvine there is a way to extend a VWP by a few more months-- any word on that??

  5. I am posting for someone else this time~

He is a USC and his girlfriend lives in England. He isn't so keen on the idea of getting married as he has gotten divorced only recently. Is there any way for them to be together without getting married?? She doesn't need to work here when she comes to live, they just really want to be together!

Any suggestions/ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!! :D

  6. I am posting a question for someone else i know in a situation where he is a US Citizen but his girlfriend is in England. He isn't so keen on doing the whole marriage thing as he has been divorced. I was wondering if anyone knows any other way for them to be together?? She does not need to work when she moves here, just need some kind of visa for them to be together.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! :D

  7. Our timeline seems like nothing compared to some of you on here, but, i am still impatient!

We had our AOS interview August 24th, approved pending FBI check and haven't heard a thing since. No welcome to america letter and no green card most unfortunate of all! As we are coming up on 60 day marker here, i was wondering if this is normal? if we should take some sort of action and ring up USCIS?

    Thank You! :)

  8. We did not get a copy of our medical exam either but i have read on vj of people getting faxed copies of it. All we just did is take the vaccination supplement (I-693A http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/pdf/ti-03/appdx-a_693vacc.pdf ) to the nearby civil surgeon ( http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/exec/cs/Index.asp?EmptyForm ) to complete the requirements (a varicella and an MMR booster is what we needed). Your actual medical exam is good for 1 year. If it is after that, you will need to get another one.

    Hope this helps!

  9. KarenCee's post just reminded me of an issue with our I-693A. We got it done at the civil surgeon, they had no idea what was going on, and kept writing down vaccinations that i didn't need, not listening to what i really did need, etc etc. :bonk: The civil surgeon did not give us our I-693A in a sealed envelope. Is this bad?? Should we be cheeky and simply put it in a white envelope ourselves and seal it up?? or leave it as is, and it's no big deal not to have it sealed??

  10. We had our interview about a month ago in Boston and are also living with my parents as we save for a house, so I was really worried about not having enough evidence of merged lives. It ended up being totally fine. The lady did not ask for a thing, until she approved us and took away James's EAD card. We had a huge file folder with the kind of stuff you listed, and didn't even open it. If you have a chance to bring an updated, notarized affidavit of support, I think it would be a good thing to bring, but in our case, we weren't asked for one, the one we had sent in originally was fine.

    Good luck

Thanks for that, good to know those things. We're hoping for one of those interviews where you don't get asked for anything too! (even though my poor husband had to spend the day at the local civil surgeon telling them 400 times what he wanted) :D

We were thinking about having the I864 notarized but are confused. The form we have updated onto was revised 01/15/2006 which doesn't contain space for notarization like the form we originally sent (revised 11/05/2001). Do you think that matters?

Again thanks for your help, much appreciated!
