  1. You know NYC office is really slow. Even though I was lucky to have my interview, I am still waiting for a decision from them. I suggest you make a service request to see what is happening. My case went from initial review to "Testing and Interview" in December, a whole month before I got my EAD card, so you should call them and try to get to the bottom of this, because I know some people who applied in December in NYC who already have interviews later this month.

Hopefully they will approve your case soon. It sucks that they are dragging their feet. For our case, I wish it is in "Initial Review" stage instead of "Acceptence" stage. How do I make a service request? The only contact I have is the 1-800-375-5283. Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. Yah, it's exactly one month of waiting now between NOA2 and NVC. It seems like a lot of people got approved around mid-May don’t have their petitions at NVC yet.

Thanks for the info on package 3. That would save my wife some hassle to travel to HCM just to drop off 2 forms.

When the consulate updated the instructions in April, it happened to be when we needed to submit p3. Even though we saw that they changed the instructions to mail only for submitting p3, my fiancé went to the consulate anyway to try to submit it in person because mail is sketchy in Vietnam. But the consulate told her they no longer accept p3 in person. We tried to submit it in person and didn't want anyone else to waste their time. Keep me posted on your NVC status, I hope NVC receive it soon.

  3. Hello everyone, I was unable to find this information so I hope someone knows. My wife has the option to have her interview in Montreal or Ho Chi Minh City. I am interested in the embassy with the shortest wait time. My attorney told me that her clients going through the Montreal consualte had to wait about 2 months. Does anyone know how long it takes to get an interview in Ho Chi Minh City?

The reason she has the option is that she is a Vietnamese Citizen, and Canadian Permanat resident.

    Thanks for your help!

    Eric

FWIW, for K-1 visa, it took a little over 2 months after we submitted p3 till the interview date. We submitted p3 on 5/4 and my fiancé's interview date is 7/9.

  4. I'm so jealous at your timeline progress. NVC hasn't received my case yet, and it's been almost 1 month.

It is odd that NVC did not receive your case from USCIS yet, should take 2-3 weeks.

For the consulate in HCMC, they changed the rule for submitting p3 to mail only. When mailing p3 to the consulate, I suggest paying for a higher postage rate so the consulate will receive it as soon as possible. Of course location also matters, my fiancé lives in HCMC, and to our surprise, DOS confirmed receipt of p3 by the consulate the next day after she mailed it.

  5. It took us about a little over a month. The consulate confirmed receipt of p3 on 5/4 and confirmed that p4 was mailed on 6/6. Our interview date is scheduled for 7/9.
