Couldn't find anything recent about this, so here we go.

USCIS sent my green card and I got it last month. Unfortunately, they put my gender as 'F'...which is incredibly bizarre when you consider a) my first name is 'Robert' and B) my photograph could not be mistaken for a chick (since I hadn't shaved when I took my photo).

So I filled the I-90, mailed it off with my green card to the Vermont Service Centre (since that's where my GC was sent from) and wrote a cover letter explaining the obvious mistake. I sent it with "I-90d" written on the envelope.

Questions, if anyone can answer them:

- When can I expect to receive a receipt?

- How long should I expect to get my correct green card back?

Mine still has that "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" nonsense stamped on it and I've never had a problem.

Expired card + NOA extension (that would be the DHS authorisation in this case) + SS# = valid for work.

Sounds like the HR people need to get a clue.

I had no problem with my employer showing my expired green card and NOA extension.

I am going to tell my friend to at least make an appointment with a Immigration lawyer, but I would be the farm that they will be just fine!

I wouldn't bet anything. Tell them to make an Infopass appointment instead.

Just to add to the apocryphal anecdotes about cheating whores:

A musician friend of mine in Dallas was recently ordered to pay child support for a child that is not his. Why? Because his name is listed on the birth certificate. The ex could have waived the child support requirement (and gone after the REAL father), but she won't because she is a money grubbing witch and works as a stripper in some low rent club, my friend is a successful artist and the real father is a deadbeat.

Please, please, please GET A DNA TEST. Isn't there some test that can determine paternity before the child is born (I saw that on an episode of Nip/Tuck, I think)? If you are NOT the father do not let your wife put your name on the birth certificate or you will be hosed.

So I got my new 10 year card in the mail Friday! YAY!

Uh, only it says that my gender is female when I am quite clearly a dude.

So I've filled out my I-90, but I don't know where to send it - does it go to the service center address that I mailed my I-751 to? Or is there a different address I should use? The reason I ask is that the instructions say I should mail it to the address that my card was sent from, only, uh, I don't have the envelope.

The card came from Vermont, if that makes any difference.

Apparently the USCIS thinks I am female, despite being very masculine.

Well have you got $600 to just waste, then all of a sudden have to afford another $600+ for the N-400 when nothing has been heard of on the first $600 you just spent??? because now the I-751 has basically caught up with the N-400, which means another large amount of money to be spent.

The I751 is mandatory.

The N400 isn't.

The simple answer is: don't file the N400 if you can't afford it.

Got my "sent you an approval notice" e-mail today, so I guess my card will arrive Monday!

So NOBODY got approved today? It really does look like they are only approving cases on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

I wonder what happens at VSC on Wednesdays and Thursdays . . . .

I have a feeling it is in order of when the actual card expires and not when your NOA came. My wife's card (with one year extension) only expires on July 7, 2008, even tough our NOA date is March 23. (yeah, we filed as early as we could)

Mine had an expiration date of April 21st, before I got my extension at the local office.

Good to see so many approvals. I just don't understand what order they are getting approved in because March and April NOAs seem to be getting approved and I am a February NOA and have not yet been approved. All the same at least there is hope now, I just wish they would do it according to NOA dates.

I don't think there is an order. They probably just got all the files that were received on a certain date and dropped them in a box, out of chronological order. Perhaps it's in order of alien registration number? Or there is no logical order to how it's being done? All I know is that the list is moving and we'll be done soon!

Yes. I picked a date about two weeks in advance.

What evidence did you take to San Antonio?

Since this was for an extension of my conditional status I took:

-My original extension letter

-My expired green card

-My passport

That's it.

They did the same thing to me today. It's totally legit. The whole point of the stamp is that it's valid for travel.

Got my residency extended another year. Hurrah. Waiting two hours with parents letting their kids run riot in the office SUCKS (but at least there was a really hot Russian girl sitting across from me).

My year-extension of my Green Card expires on the 21st of this month, so I'm off to San Antonio today with an Infopass appointment to get my passport stamped.

Sigh.

Thanks for the congrats! I am a bit sentimental about not being the leader of the list anymore - but then again, I'd much rather give up my royal status and just be done with this craziness
