  1. So I spoke to Senator Schumer's office and they have written an email asking the consulate if they will issue visa before our travel date overseas of July 10th and if they cant do it then please return the passport and we can send it again for visa issuance after we come back from overseas.

Senator gillibrand's office will also contact the consulate on Friday so I hope that something is resolved soon.

  2. Finally after 2 months I got a positive response about my wife's AP in Montreal. The consulate general asked for the passport along with my tax returns. I sent the passport along with taxes current pay stubs job letter along with a joint sponsor because my personal taxes showed $10000 income due to a business loss which I sold in the year 2011. Currently I make double the amount I made last year. Its been 3 days since the Consulate received the documents which was on the 18th of June. I call DOS everyday and they seem to be no help. I called and they said that "they received the documents and case is under adminstrative processing" they seem to be so vague in answers that it demoralizes my whole mood.

Please tell me how long should I wait before I have my senator contact them because me and my wife plan to travel overseas on July 10th for a period of 2 months and if they dont wanna issue before than its better to travel and then send the passport after we come back. I earlier had a reception planned in NY but the AP delay made me cancel that with a huge financial loss and now i dont want the same problem where I have a reception scheduled overseas and because of the consulate I would have to delay that as well.

Today I called Montreal Consulate phone and found out that they are closed and reopen on Wednesday. Next week they are going to open on Thursday. Should I wait all of wednesday or fax them and email with the passport return request because they will be closed for the next few days and I have to travel on the 10th of July. I really need help.

  4. I had emailed the montreal consulate to find out what was happening with my wife's cr-1 since it had been under AP since April. first three email responses were still undergoing administrative processing but today i got a response from them which stated that the consular officer is reviewing the case and we will soon provide you more details. What could this mean now?

    "Good day,

The consular officer is currently reviewing your case and we will soon provide you further details regarding the status of your immigrant visa application.

    Sincerely,

    OP8

  5. if the CO thought that there was some fraud indicators she would not have given all my documents back nor requested any documents. The interview went very well and all of our documents were given back. She hardly asked us any questions, only how me and my wife met, when we got married, and what I do? That is all that was asked and she gave us the white paper 221g stating additional administrative processing and we will contact you for passport.

  6. when should i start emailing the consulate and contacting DOS to find out whats happening and how frequent should this contact be? Btw, I was interviewed by the nice black lady with dreadlocks, have heard on this forum that she is very nice. She was nice to us so maybe that could help. She also stated that she will keep in mind that we have july reception date when the case comes back to her.

  7. I understand that if it was a male than they would require more time but since it is an AP for a female, would that be in my favour as to the time frame of this process being completed? Im sure it is because she was born in Pakistan but being a female that could help her out?

  8. Today my wife had the interview for IR-1/CR-1 visa at Montreal Consulate. I went along with her and we were first to be called for interview. She asked how we met, what I do and where she intends to live. During this time, she returned all the original civil documents and took the medical. After this, she went away and came back with the letter stating that additional Administrative Processing needed and will contact you for passport. She did not say that it was denied but told us that more processing is required and will contact my wife and then have her mail the passport to the consulate. Also gave a paper which told about the process of mailing the passport.

My query is that we have our reception planned in July 15th in New York. We have invested a lot of money and while this was mentioned to the Officer she said that my wife would not have problem crossing border but I do have other plans where we would not be returning back to US or Canada before end of September. What time frame should I expect to get a response back?

Spoke to lawyer and he stated that they should give you some sort of update in like 10-15 days. Give them that much time to verify.

She is a Canadian Citizen but was born in Pakistan so perhaps that could be a reason for the delay?

  9. My wife is also Pakistani and a Canadian Permanent Resident. I have been under the impression that she will probably be placed in AP too. I also had a reception in July that I have now rescheduled for December. I hope it will be swift inshaAllah. Please keep us posted with the progress. I hope it will be soon. There was also this other person who also went through this http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/341790-administrative-processing/

Just curious, were you also present at teh interview?

Yes I was at interview. Lady took the medical, gave the civil documents back and said to wait for letter so passport can be sent back for visa

  11. Did they say why administrative processing is required? Is your wife originally from another country that has a high fraud rate? Or were her parents? I have read that sometimes that is what causes administrative processing. I know one girl was waiting in administrative processing for a couple months. I am not sure what the longest time frame is though. Fingers crossed it all works out for you!

well she was born in Pakistan. So i guess that might be the reason why they need further processing.

  13. i have one more question..

I was previously married and my previous wife was also petitioned and obtained her green card through me. The marriage did not work out and we were separated for about a year and finally divorced was finalized in august of 2011. Would this have any issue at the consulate interview and is it advisable that i go with her or should i not go with my wife to the interview.

  14. when should i start calling nvc to get a case number. I spoke to lawyer and he told me that usualy wait 2-3 weeks for further correspondence from nvc. I just want to make sure everything goes smoothly

I do think i should go to interview because my wife doesnt have much idea of what ive applied or any of the information that is on the application. I just dont want any complications arising at the interview

  15. Hey I filed for my canadian citizen wife for a I-130 in November. Got NOA1 on November 14th and today got the approval in the mail with decision on December 15th, 2011.

Our wedding reception is in July of 2012 in NY.

Asking fellow VJers, when do you think NVC would get my case and after my lawyer completes all my paperwork, when should i be looking at a estimated interview date. Is it advised that I should go to interview with her because we got married in Niagara on the 28th of October and filed for the case two weeks after. It could trigger something. Please let me know.
