  1. I have a friend who is interested in marrying from overseas ( Indonesia) however this is the issue and I was hoping someone can provide some insight so that I may pass along the info. Some years ago maybe 4 or 5 my friend sponsored a family. ( a man asked him to sponsor him and his wife and kids however the mans family until this day has not arrived) And as recently as 2 years ago he sponsored another person. HIS income is relatively high! Would it be possible for him to sponsor a A FIANCÉ OR SPOUSE ? Would these sponsorships still appear with him? How can he find out if he is still responsible for them?

  2. Well we had our interview on the 13th and the officer didn't say right out we were approved but talked as if we were. Later I checked the website and saw our welcome letter had been sent. She said (the officer) while we were interviewing that we can apply for citizenship after 3 years wow I thought it was longer. My wife is getting a ten yr green card. I'm happy and relieved!!!

  3. Harpa your tone is a little unnecessary I do have a birth record and if you would have read earlier it says for my k2 son. This is the whole reason why it doesn't make sense what they are requesting is because I sent that. I'm wondering if they mean the family card also ( my wife and son are from Indonesia) and this ( family card) has some information like parents names place of birth etc

  4. in the checked box it says

you have submitted secondary evidence and/or a birth affidavit as proof of your birth record. However the evidence you have submitted is insufficient

Examples of acceptable secondary evidence may include but is not limited to, church or school records listing your parents names and your date of birth, hospital records of your birth or other official records indicating country and record of birth..

in addition to a birth affidavit or secondary evidence Title 8 code of federal regulations section 103.2 (b)(2)(ii) states:where a record does not exist the applicant or petitioner must submit an original written statement on government letterhead establishing this from the relevant government or other authority. The statement must indicate the reason the record does not exist or indicate whether similar records for the time and place are available it must contain one of the following

    A legible seal

    a legible stamp

a signature with a title containing the words: secretary, registrar or births and deaths

information regarding the availability of birth records from an applicants country of birth may be found in the us dept of state foreign affairs manual. an indication in the foreign affairs manual that birth certificates are generally unavailable will be considered acceptable evidence the applicants birth certificate is not available

additional info on acceptable north records for people born outside the US can be found ar www.state.gov

more info see form I-485 instructions

like i said i submitted the same translated birth record at the embassy so i cant understand why they are asking again?

    thank you in advance

  5. I have tried to not look continuously at the USCIS site but with people mentioned case status changes tonight I thought I would take a look. And woo whoooo. My case status changed too To RFE lol don't know what for yet but I guess that means someone is looking at our case. Just hate that everything is on hold until they get their requested evidence. But we are hoping for EAD soon.

I was in and out in about 25 minutes. I was told that I shouldn't really be doing this and not to do it again but at least they saw me. I didn't give any reason for wanting an earlier appt. MASSACHUSETTS

Boston - I took my wife for her scheduled biometrics appointment on 1/14/14. In an effort to get some info for this thread I asked the woman at the front desk if they allow early walk-ins, this was her reply: "It depends on what the reason is. If you legitimately need to come at an earlier date they will allow it, but if you just walk in for no apparent reason, they may not."

Boston - Tried to do early walk in for my appointment in Lawrence, told them I worked in Boston and would have to take time off to go to Lawrence. They asked me if I couldn't make it on the original date, I said I could, just didn't want to take time off from work. They told me I'd have to come back on the day of my appointment, but I could do it in Boston. Still waiting to go back. - Not successful.

Lawrence - did an early walk in 3 weeks before my appointment. Just asked politely if it was ok as I was in the area that day anyway. They couldn't have been nicer.
