  1. I have read lot of post on Adjustment of status from K1, student, and others. i came to conclusion that K1 is the worse means right now to bring your love one to the United States. Then i asked myself that those of us that came here or bring our love one via K1, what do we have to gain after having to wait for a pertition to be approved after five month, then send down to the NVC and then forward down to the embassy? Atleast my process took about 9 months and im sure others who are subjected to Administrative review spend beyond that if im not wrong. We paid much more for visa fees, medical examination and waiting time.

At the end we are here and its another long waiting process compare to other applicants adjusting via students and other means. All we get is our application being transferred to califonia in the name of speedy process though some of us still get transfer to local service centre but correct me if im wrong atleast 90 perc of us get transfer to califonia. When i received notification that my application was transfer to Califonia after reading other people stories here, i was unhappy.

Does is make sense now to get your love one come to live with you in the United States via the so called K1 or get them to apply for visiting visa and then adjust status to Permanent residence from there, atleast you wont have to wait so long since your application is most likely to pass through the normal process.

I put up this thread because it does not make sense to me no more to get your love here via K1. If you have more imput to this pls let us talk about it.

In this journey many complications came our way; some which many were doubtful could be overcome. One institution contacted that assist person in immigration process provided bad advice which didn't follow knowing and understanding the law and wanting to do things correctly. The representative advised that apply for a visiting visa and later adjust. Explained that in which they should have known that I would file for the purpose intended, K1. Even though doing things correctly seems like a trial and frustrating; with persistance and determination and true love in the balance it is all possible. I prayed constantly for direction and thankful after a long courtship me and my fiance are together. We learned the true meaning of patience which think will be of value in our marriage. Please if you want you and your love to be together it seems K1 or CR1 would be the way for you to go. If your goal is to be with your love then use the best tools that can help you "put together" that dream. The best to you.

  2. thanks so much. I guess this whole process just made me a little paranoid. I just want him here and I want a smooth POE for him!

That something I was concerned about the same thing and even though round trip was cheaper decided to purchase one way just to make sure things went smooth and thankfully it did. The best to you on your journey :)

  3. To give hope and comfort to those who have received RFE due to various circumstances, which many were concerned here at visajourney regarding the RFE I received; thankful for all those that provided positive reinforcement and thanks to all that gave insight regarding AP which was a very stressful period. With much appreciation for this site and through the assistance of many supportive family and friends my fiance has arrived in the United States. :D What a dream come true 4 us.:dance:

So though many of you may come across some rough spots in your petitions and support lacking, never give up on love no matter what challenges stand in front of you. Love never fails! May all of you find success in your journey.

  4. I got my 2nd NOA, stating my fiancee K-1 visa petition has been approved on may 18, 2012

and forwarded to the consulate in Monrovia,Liberia.

We were giving up to september 17,2012 for her to get her visa. Unfortunately, they did not

state or gave any instructions on the next stept we should take and go on from there

until she get the visa. Can you or anyone please tell me what is the next stept we should take

after receiving the notice of petition approved. Thanks so much for your help.

Has the Embassy contacted you for your fiancee to pick up packet? Items requested DS-230, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-158, DS-157 and any other information that is specified on the forms to be attached. I-134 affidavit of support/certified copy, (and any listed information under the instructions to be attached to this form). Be sure to read everything very carefully so that all documents/pictures, etc. that are needed are in your completed packet. Try to compile information as soon as possible in order to be ready for the interview. The best to you on your journey. :)

  5. So he had his interview today. The woman he said was nice and they joked around with one another. She asked him a few questions, how did we meet, remarked our story was like a romance novel, have we met our parents, visited one another and what I did for a living, when were we getting married. Pretty basic questions. Had him sign the 156 and then told him to come back tomorrow morning to have his fingerprints done as their system was down today

Now... we're both trying to figure out if we're approved. She didn't mention it to him but the interview was quick and easy. He's a bit worried because of all the other information we've read on others and the fact that she didn't say he was approved.

I'm wondering myself but not too worried. I figure if she didn't ask for any additional information and wanted him to return for his fingerprints it should be okay. However I do have a question... she didn't ask him if he wanted to pay for expedited mail to get the visa - is that something they normally ask you to do? Or do they just send it? Would they give him the visa tomorrow when he goes in for fingerprints or is that unheard of?

Cant say for sure but it sounds positive. Hope you get more good news tomorrow! :) The best on the rest of your journey.

Thanks guys. Almost there! So close we can both happily taste it.

OH btw... he visited last week - for those who have followed my thread. Brought all the extra information we might need for customs, k1 package, bank account, employer note... they asked for nothing and waved him through quick and easy. All that worry for nothing!

  6. I just recive email

is this approved??? no RFE????

On May 25, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Congratulations, Congratulations! and wanted to mention love the photo below from Brazil~ Palhaco. Smile in a sense we are all looking to walk in the "shoes" of successful happy endings (superb photo of inspiration and profound statement). The best to you on the rest of your journey. :)

That is good, glad it was a short AP. It makes me so so so happy to hear how you will be able to be with your loved one. 1 day is too long to be away and happy your patience has now been rewarded. Hope to follow in the similar footsteps soon. We are anxiously awaiting the phone call letting us know AP is complete. The best to you both.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! how long were you in AP? That is where we are, so encouraging to see others making their way through the journey successfully.

  9. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! Thanks to all of you for guidance and support !!! Visa Journey is the best !!!

6 months later we finally have approval. Yaaayyy...my fiance had his re-interview at the Peruvian embassy today and they told him congratulations go get married !!! YAAAAAYYYYY

    :dance::dance: HAPPY DANCE HAPPY DANCE !!! :dance::dance:

Now we wait for the visa in hand and the hope is for POE in 2 weeks !!! OMG OMG OMG !!! YAAAYYY

WOW super congratulations!! I take it your K-1 was pending in AP, we are hope to hear something soon. Was the interview similar to the one he had the first time?

  10. After 200 days of waiting and hours waiting by the phone for her to call, she just informed me that we are approved and I will be seeing her soon. Thank you to everyone that has replied to all my questions and for making this process less painful in making sure everything was done right. The guidance from you all has been a God sent and I am sure we will be back on here after the wedding as we go through the AOS process and then some.....thanks again to everyone and God bless!!!

Was the 200 days for administrative processing? Congratulations on visa approval, SUPER CONGRATULATIONS!! will be happy when can share the same news :)

  11. Allow additional time

If you want to contact your congressman...

    1. Walk into his local office

    2. Call his local office

    3. Send a letter to his local office

Google (Name of congressman/senator) all information will be found

Congressman/Senators have no control over USCIS unless there has been some error on their part or they are not in compliance with the law. The law does not specify a timeframe for petitions to be completed.

If you see that there may have been a possible error and Congressman is contacted usually will they provide detailed information? Also seem to be a little lost DOS and NVC work closely or are one in the same. When checking on AP who should be the one to contact that will have the most updated information?

  12. I google Liberia USembassy and looked at your embassy and they do not seem to have a website for AP. It says to just email them any questions about the AP

    Please edit your timeline

Hhhm.. :) in emailing it is a standard response that it is in AP, no updates. Hope they get that feature soon. Thank you for checking. :) Just hope that things will be completed soon. The best on your journey.

  13. those where the last words of the CO lol.

    visa APPROVED :yes::dance::star::D

i will write a review tomorrow because after 12 hours of travelling and 5 hours sat in the embassy i am knackered.

to all that have helped me by giving me advice, making me laugh, or by laughing at my strange sense of humour... THANK YOU :D:thumbs:

Congratulations.. have seen you with many posts.. very happy and the best to the both of you.

  14. You have to keep in mind, the consulate in Ghana is extremely backlogged. The biggest one in the world, as far as I know. Be grateful for it only being 4 months. They must have sped up as I remember it taking up to one YEAR to get an interview date!

It is very difficult obtaining information on my fiance's country, not too much found on visajourney and ones found are from long ago and current members didnt notice any post. Would you happen to know if this country is backlogged as well? They said adminstrative processing can take some time. Where can find out information on back logging?

  15. I've been totally lame at keeping up with the VJ forums for the last month/month and half.

Guess I've been busy with life. lol

Now I need to get busy with getting the place ready for S's arrival.

    :D

    Visa was approved today.

Wow, he'll finally be here in just 9 days.

WOW I didnt see this before, I know you had answered a few questions for me before relating to time frame regarding interview with Embassy. So very happy for you, that was quick.. :) Currently waiting in AP, maybe it won't take as long as see on my sections. We were hoping to be together already, but there is waiting ahead guess, :) Yes Congratulations again to you two.

  16. after 5 months call your Senator or Congressman so they can make an inquiry ( you will have to sign a privacy statement and so will the benificary) Dont email or call the Embassy all they will say to you 9 if they answer the phone is your under AP and make take up to 60-90 days to complete. Just keep checking the website with your case number and call DOS. I really hope for all our sake that we will be done with AP very soon and our loved ones come home!!!

Hi you mention a website that you can check your case number. Where is that located? Is that the USCIS website that you check? And MENA countries have to do some checking to see if that catergory we fall in, hhhm.. very informative. Just will be glad when it is over, think this last process is the most stressful.

  17. Hello VJ friends!

Just wanted to let you all know that Shannon went to his interview yesterday and we were approved. When Shannon called to tell me the news, I've never had such a feeling of relief and happiness in my life. It really is all worth it! All the time and money and paperwork are worth it knowing that in a week we will be together and never have to be apart. I just want to thank everyone on this site, for being so supportive and helpful throughout this whole process. I can't thank you enough! This is the best feeling in the world. For all of you still waiting on approval, hang in there...it's all worth it in the end!

    Thanks again,

    Danielle

P.S. Shannon will be posting a review of the Sydney embassy soon!

BIG BIG SMILES!!! :) :) looking forward to that time too! Much happiness to you both.

  18. I wouldn't worry about the relationship. They would have asked you extensive questions about your spouse or asked for more evidence if they doubted the relationship. They would need more proof. If they did not ask for more proof or additional documents I would assume it's mandatory AP for background checks. Your case will stay at the embassy - but they will run background checks w/washington DC to make sure you are not a threat to national security or have a criminal background.

Please try to fill out your profile as completely as you can so we have more info to help you. Thanks!

This was an interesting point you made that if they doubted the relationship they would have asked more questions.. this is good to know. My fiance they asked limited questions, so that is encouraging. :) and waiting for AP to be complete. the best to the both of you! :) :)

  19. My husband finally received his visa today after waiting for a little more than eight weeks in AP. He received a phone call from Dhaka embassy a day before telling him that the process was over and he should come to the embassy at 2:30PM. She also told him to bring the blue slip with him at the embassy. When he went to the embassy an announcement was made for those with blue slip to wait for the visa. They took the blue sheet before giving him the visa. Finally my prayers have been answered and my son will learn to walk holding both of his parents’ hands inshallah.

My prayers and best wishes will remain for those who are still waiting patiently for the agonizing AP to be over. May the blessings of Allah remain with you always and you will hear the good news soon inshallah. I hope my case will be the beginning of an end of all the Administrative Process for the VJ members here. I’ll be checking for the case status of my VJ friends here. Let me know if you have any questions regarding my case. I’ll try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

This was encouraging. Currently in AP for K-1 it will be a month this week. We didnt receive any slip they just said that they will be calling. We are patiently waiting..so since we didnt receive a paper at the moment we have no idea what AP is for. Have been trying to discern if there is a standard administrative processing and then there is another type.. have been checking the site to see an answer to this, nothing yet. The petition approval will soon expire, hope we hear something soon. Congratulations, Congratulatons and the best to you and life together.

  20. Hello everybody. Thu is feeling much better now...and drinking a lot of coconut juice :) It will take a couple of weeks or so for her to fully recover but she is on the way to good health. It brings tears to my eyes when I see how much support there is on Visa Journey. I also want to apologize for over reacting a bit the other day. When I heard "dengue" and "hospital" in the same sentence, I just freaked out and feared the worst. Even though we have never met, you are all family to me. Trust me, I am struggling to hold back my tears as I write this. I love you all from the bottom of my heart (L)

Thu and I will make purchase the airplane ticket in a couple of weeks or so. She wants to leave VN in late April so that she can be with her family to celebrate her sister's birthday on April 23rd. Thank you all and God bless

That makes me smile :) she is working back to health. It is understandable getting excited when hearing news such as your loved one not feeling well, and with the entire stress that this process brings think there is no such thing as overeacting. Hope oneday soon will be able to say the same as you that of purchasing plane ticket; will be dream come true; currently my case is still pending administrative processing. The best to you both!!! and good health!!

  21. I just got off the phone with Tuan (TcTTct). His fiancee called Thu and spoke with her. I was told that the doctor said if Thu had shown up to the hospital even 1 day later or something like that, she may have died :o

Thu did not answer my phone calls because she was afraid I would panic or get angry. My God we dodged a bullet here. My older brother was killed in a car crash 13 years ago and I would not be able to handle losing my Thu. I am so relieved.

I want to thank Tuan for coming to my rescue. You will be a dear friend of mine forever

I believe all will be well, want to say very thankful you have had such supportive comments from others. This journey in itself is not easy so when something like this comes up can be very difficult, but as someone mentioned that it provides us with strength and truly believe the relationships people have developed long distance and to continue moving on shows just how serious you both feel about each other. Time always proves more and as you and all here know that time is what we have all had. It will all work out, and a year from now you will look back at this journey and realize love can endure all things. May her health improve quickly.

  22. LOL, thanks alot for remembering! He doesn't have an interview this time, just a follow up meeting to the interview he had last month. Thanks a lot again...The well wishes REALLY mean a lot to us! (L)

Hi, I keep looking for any new information on Liberia, truly hoping something will happen soon. My fiance was told after the interview that they would call. waiting by the phone patiently, smile. Was reading your post where you said that you couldnt work after getting the good news. That will be me for sure, lol. Will be glad when NVC will say it is out of ADP. Looking at how long ago you received that news having many many anniversaries. Congratulations!!
