  1. heres my suggestion.. though we did a fiance visa. puttin race and age aside, since those two factors are lagos CO bias, i think money transfer receipts btw married couples are okay as secondary proofs. but only if those are money receipts startin after marriage date of course. they are also ok if use for bday and other celebrations and u can prove dis. if its transfer btw fiancees, i wld suggestion not to show this at all. u shldnt need diis receipts as ur key proof anyways for a K1 visa. overall, money receipts shld be one of those last set of proofs u want to shw a CO in lagosa unless if pressed especially if u are married with kids for the USC

  2. Nope they won't let you in Embassy with him. But here's a tip I learned here on VJ. Give him your Passport when you arrive at embassy. When he is asked to hand over passport he will hand over yours also and that will alert the CO that you are there.

although this can be a suggested idea wit the passport, do not bank on it has a get out of jail card.. ur guy needs to be ready to answer questions confidently and consistently.. if da CO starts askin for any additional evidence, or if CO asks wen was the last time u came, he can then show da passport and say u are waiting outside. do not under-estimate the consulate or think theres a easy way.. to be honest ive seen here on VJ, at least since ive been on, that majority of the intvws that went well did not hv the petitioner present in naija. i knw da support is gd and u can rejoice together, but i think this makes the beneficiary not prepare and focus well.. or do things last minute.. as naija's most of us hv this mindset wit things.. i once kid wit my fiancee that if i had bn around, there wasnt gonna be any luvy luvy play after da first day i arrive..lol.. funny, but i hp u get my point..

also, smetimes ur posts/question come out as if ur too nervous lukin ahead.. i hp ur guy is da steady one cuz one of u will need to be da driver, and i recommend its da US citizen

  3. because its lagos consulate, you cant always knw what exactly is good enuf.. each yr differs, even each intvw days differ.. but to make your support keep lookin stronger, u shld consider at least a two weeks visit btw now and ur NOA2 approval. and before u leave, give him a copy of ur stamped passport again.. and if u can visit durin da intvw, dat cld help. since u started in 2010ur and this is 2012, u shld hv at least seen each other twice already even if difficult.. u wld also be able to strt piling up mre pictures wit friends.. by the way, if dey do ask him why he had applied for visa before, he better not lie if visitin u was da reason..

  4. I think we should do a thread about the COs there and their trait. Joseph said there was an older white man that approved almost everyone, a young good looking black woman that only approved black and black couples and then the asian lady. If we knew their quirks we might be a better prepared group.

good idea, but don't forget to put a column for the fraud relationships each CO have stopped as well... oh wait, is there a way to validate this? how about we put some of the blames on ourselves for lack of preparation or underestimated lagos consulate. i knw people who organize their files the night before and it showed during their interview, but yet came on here to VJ and blamed the CO for laughing.. how do we separate or reflect this on the thread.. please do start it.. have you thought maybe we nigerians will now focus on this thread and just prepare for COs and not what we should know about our "real" relationships? i do agree some COs are a-holes!

  5. usually i think patient just makes dry or one-liner comments so she can get the posting record on lagos.. lol.. but this time she makes a helpful point: aint you planning on relocating? i understand you might need more money from your job in preparation, but i suggest not to let your job delay you or upset the US embassy. explain to you job and if you have to return then do so... have you forgotten the stress/worries you took to get this visas? all the best

  6. It depends on the University he attended in Nigeria, If i may ask, which University in Nigeria did he graduated from? If he had graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), I will advice him on what he needs to do to get his transcripts sent to him within two weeks according to their websites in obtaining Transcript. I dont know the mode of operation of other Universities in Nigeria in requesting for Universities transcripts. He can ask any of his or her relation to assist him handle that situation since he is presently here in the US. For more information,School Transcripts are sent directly from the School to the Non profit Organisation specializing in Foreign Credential Evaluation in the US e.g WES - World Education Service and many others. Schools in the US do not evaluate foreign transcripts credential. So it depends on the choice of Universities and colleges he wants go in the US. They will be in better position to advice him on what he needs to do to get his credential evaluated and send to them via Non profit Organization of their choice. I am advicing him to ask his school in Nigeria to send a student copy to him directly to his address in the US and another official school transcripts to the Non profit Organization the school in the US will direct him for verification and evaluation of his transcript.

If you wish to know other things do not hesitate to contact me. Remain Blessed.

i don't think they will send an official transcript to the individual directly. and places like WES wants the official transcript. dealing with Nigerian schools will be stressful.. with numerous visits needed and yes, probably the "extra" money. i had my fiancee go get hers as part of her preparation in leaving Nigeria.. and God bless her for the headache she had to deal with to get something that should be hers.. and then we had the official transcript sent somewhere (lets just say undercover)..lol.. its tough chasing something in Nigeria when you are not there.. gdluck though

  7. u say the truth. if thats all the above u stated, then say the truth. btw, are u and ur hubby different in culture and/or big gap in age difference? hope u have strong enuf pictures.. and dnt be too quick to mention hes outside.. u can hold his passprt.. thats my opinion though.. i didnt do cr1

  8. for lagos, go for your medical three weeks before your interview. its usually two visits: one for the needed test and second visit is to pick up the sealed envelope for your interview. hold enough cash because u never knw the sudden fee change. Q-life clinic is recommended, although both suggested clinics by the appointment letter will do the job

  9. Honey keep your head up. My husband is from my nigeria but he is currently an international student in another country. I am 13 yrs older and I am staying prayed up, I know God will see us through because it's true love. I spent 2 months with him when I vacationed from work but I can't take another trip right now and neither are we able to afford it right now but God will see us through, I know he will because I am a firm believer in his word. Try again and again if you must. You have all the leverage you need.

I get irritated when all people say is God.. prayer without work is nothing.. ok.. you need to do the work and then pray for the labor you do be blessed and favored... do you think people that go approve did not pray? but i tell you they make all the paper work and sacrifices needed. do you think people that got denied because they have suspect/false documents do not pray? This journey is not easy, so why leave your self open to setback.. so if the CO says we deny you cuz you did not make another trip.. you will then go home and wish you had made that trip or be willing to trade that trip for anything at that point? i understand times are hard and money is not easy, but if things are very tough now and you can't make trip, how can you show support on the I-134 then. so why not make that trip now and pray God sees you effort and makes it all worthwhile at the end... is it an evil spirit that resides in all COs?

  10. these are really red flags. you might want to consider attending the interview.. it might not help, but won't hurt. No offense, but i can just see lagos CO laugh (from what i've read here on vj) as ur spouse walks up to the window. you do have your work cut out for you, so like you said begin digging at it and pray and dig at it some more.. nothing is impossible..all the best

  11. once interview date has been set, even before lagos decides to reply ur email or inform u.. the computers at DOS over here wld reflect it too.. dats hw i found out and therefore i relaxed and didnt care wen lagos chooses to reply me

  12. usually they should give u a review but i guess they didnt want to cooperate.. they still hv da case file though cuz it takes about a month before they send it to NVC and then to USCIS.. from da insider review i got on ur fiance's interview and questions asked of him, it is gonna be a tough going on watever ur nxt step is BUT nothing is impossible.. just need God and if u hv the energy and time to spare. dnt let them or anyoneis discourage ur nxt moves whether its congressman/senator or even president.. its ur relationship n mind u shld trust. i just read a VJ story on da main page 2day on a couple still strugglin with approval from embassy in DR even after doin CR1 and paying a lot of lawyer fees.. so its up to u.. but i suggest to be prepared and rethink da next steps and dnt do it alone.. hv u and ur guy be each others critic and devils advocate on each step.. are u back in country? all da best

  13. I filled in September 2010 for my fiancee and we were approved last month Feb. 9th. I received my approval letter Feb 14th. Now my fiancee went to Lagos Embassy to request interview date only to be told they have not received the approval letter from America. So I call the customer service here in the states and they said it has been mailed out. This is strange. Has anyone experience this before in Lagos Embassy or any US embassy?

do u have the DOS number here in US? u can call them for update on intvw date.. thats hw we got ours even before lagos emailed us.

  14. My fiancee actually email the embassy on feb. 29th with the approval information and the embassy replied saying they have not received the approval from USA.

u didnt make the approval information an attachment with the email, did you? either, send another fresh email... do not use the last email sent and do not include attachments.

  15. here's what i've gathered from readings: as the above stated, you first have to wait for USCIS to get ur case back and then get back to you on their decision. i've read that it can take 7-9months. If USCIS feels you are good,(or ask you for more proof) they'll return it to embassy to give you another interview (3-4months add). if not, then the K-1 will be voided. Rather than wait, i've recently seen couples just go right to the CR1, which will immediately end the K-1. As for it the CR-1 will then be approved, it all goes back to the interview again and what the CO/consulate has on record. some are successful and some are still not. the issue/reason CO used to deny the K-1 initially would still need to answered and verified by your man. It also depends on what the consulate has written on their files. I've read where a couple is still in almost 2yrs waiting for a second interview as a CR-1 couple (that doesn't include the time on the denied K-1). By the way, have you asked/emailed the consulate to give you a record of what happened at the interview? you would need to know in future preparation.. all the best... pray and then trust ur mind.

your fiance went to the lagos consulate or do you mean emailed them? If NVC had told you that it has been shipped to Lagos, then I suggest you wait 2wks or so and email lagos consulate requesting interview. With you Feb. 14 date, i think you should go ahead and email the consulate. Have your fiance email them and reference your LGS number in the subject line and state K-1 interview request. Make sure the email is to LagosIV department. Ill guess you would get a respond btw 3-5 days. Read the lagos/Nigeria embassy information here for further details.

  17. this is the kinda of post that the VJ moderator people need to be reviewing or even deleting.. yes, no one wants to judge or offend if its real, but if it smells bad, it is bad.. why would you have people responding/aideing post thats so suspicious as this? instead the moderators are going around deleting and removing other comments... riduclous..

let me guess, maybe when the OP's "cousin" said passed away, they really don't mean died, right... just that the person moved along and she ran into someone else... OP, when did ur cousin meet the new guy? was it at the wake-keeping or the funeral or when she was place flowers by the grave? real relationships are getting stuck at embassies...
