So you filed and 2 years later you had an interview and you've been waiting for almost a year now for a decision.

I agree with contacting your senator.  You can also contact the ombudsman.  Filing for citizenship, I don't think you can do that until 09/07/2017.  That would be 5 years minus 90 days from your POE.

If you read my earlier post,  have been following up, calling and writing and they tell me on phone that they cannot discuss my case  and I have also  been stamping my passport which has enabled me work and travel. Its not as if I have been sitting and doing nothing.

I'm a bit confused as to why you ticked vawa as an option then expected it to be moved to seperated when the divorce was final. it either happened or it didn't, divorce is irrelevant. this is a guess but they may be looking into the vawa still.

I did this based on advice from a Lawyer, she said I should tick all 3, because at that time, I had a case that could be argued under VAWA. did not know it would take this long.

federal senator. immigration is always federal.

Do you mean December 2015? If you've applied in December 2016, there's going to be quite some time left. Averaging processing time for an I-130 approval is ~5-6 months currently. If you mean December 2015, then you are well past average processing times and should call your respective processing center and ask to be escalated to a Tier 2 representative. They will typically initiate a supervisor review and get you a response within a month or so. In parallel, you should also reach out to your US Representative and Senators' offices. They can inquire on the status of your petition; such inquiries can also possibly help move things along.

I meant December 2014. What if its being processed as a VAWA. I sent them my final divorce in Oct 2015 and had an interview in Feb 2016 and yet no response

  4. Its a very long story. I need not tell it here. But she wanted a divorce, some times I wonder , maybe she just wanted the baby, because she tried really hard to get me deported. Though she filed several criminal charges that would have had me deported , all were dismissed. Those charges are enough to scare a novice away from the country. I wish people can learn from my story, not all that glitters is Gold, look before you leap, people also use people for various reasons. If I never had a child with her, I would have been long gone. Now that I have a daughter, I need to be in her life, don't want her calling another man daddy, my ex never had a father in her life, not because her father was a dead beat, but because her mother also scared the hel out of him and even had him locked up, eventually he had to leave the country. I do not want my daughter to turn out that way. Now I am getting into parts of the story.

  5. Hello all, i have been a member of this group for a while, though i have not been participating actively, but i do follow most topics every now and then. I moved here in 2012, after being married to my USC spouse for almost 2 years. We had a baby 2 years later, but we later separated , when baby was barely 6 weeks old. This was her decision, all efforts too get her to reconcile with me was unsuccessful and she filed for divorce a few months later. I really dont want to go into to much details here, but due to the nature of our separation and also because our divorce was not final , when it was time to remove my conditional 2 year GC, i ticked the 3 options, including VAWA. i did not get an interview until Feb 2016 and till today i have no heard a word from USCIS. Just to let you know, though my ex  has since remarried, our separation was very messy, as i mentioned before, i really don want to bog you all with too many details, but she attempted to remove me from the country, by filing several bogus criminal charges and calling ICE and DHS several times. Her communication was revealed to me during the interview. During our numerous court appearances , she also accused me of marriage fraud. Well fast forward 2017, i have been cleared of all criminal charges, i have since expunged all traces of criminal complicity in order to enable me get a job, We have joint custody of our child , whom i see 2 times a week, including biweekly weekend visits, though i pay child support and have never defaulted.

When my divorce was final, i sent in my divorce certificate and i thought my application will be taken away from vawa and moved to separation due to divorce, but i was wrong. Since my ex was in touch with USCIS and wrote bogus letters accusing me of every thing in living day light, from theft, to rape to fraud, though i am an accomplished professional, i am of the opinion that my 10 year GC is being delayed because i am currently under investigation.

I have written , called and tried all efforts to communicate with USCIS, but i keep being told that due to nature of my case, they cannot respond to me directly. Its been more than 2 years and by the end of this year, i will be due to file my citizenship.

I will like to request advice from  learned members on what my next steps and options are. I cant afford an attorney at the moment and i cherish the bond between me and my daughter, so leaving the country may not be an option. Thanks.

  6. Applied for ROC early December 2014 and got my NOA by the 8th of December 2014. Up until now, i still have not recieved my Biometric letter. Currently going through a bitter divorce and my ex wife to be is hell bent on sending me back to my country. She hopes that would happen, so she can have full and un-interrupted custody of our 10 month old daughter. She has written to USCIS and hired expert witnesses in our divorce case to testify about my immigration status and whether or not my marriage might have been a fraud.

Its quite unfortunate that my USC spouse never realised her marriage was fraudulent until she decided to kick me out of our home in May 2014 with a restraining order. Even thought he order was dismissed, she still refused to let me back to the house. After this incidence, a series of false accusations followed, which has led me to where i am now in my life, with no full time job, huge legal bills and alienation from my daughter.

I wish some one could explain possible reasons why i still dont have a biometric letter. I would also like to know if there are ways to contact USCIS about this matter

    Thank You.

  7. Interesting...they hired you speaking like that & most US companies LOVE to

have Brits & Canadians in their company (look at the networks..Brits & Canadians)

get on prime time news.....with that said could it be U are not the hustling type on the

job, U come off as uppity, U truly do not produce...or is it just a bunch of jealous clannish ppl

just not feeling you?....did U ever have an evaluation done by the company...Seek another

job and don't put them on your resume...fighting to stay with a lawyer will just bring unhappiness

U come off as uppity.... never heard that before. And who says clumsy state government workers dont discriminate against Brits? Go watch Piers Morgan and you will get a feel of America's attitude to Brits.

  8. First Job in the US was with RGIS, an Inventory management company that count stock for retail stores, but before I could get my first shift, I got an interview with Home Depot as a Paint Associate (just 10 minutes drive from my house). Great job, laid back environment and decent pay (above minimum wage). Attended tax school and got my credentials evaluated with WES. Next job after 6 months with Home Depot was Staff Accountant with a non profit, just 15 min drive from my house, earning 4x my pay at Home depot.

All achieved within 8 months of my stay in the US. My advice is to be persistent, put in your best in all you do (got homer / customer service awards at home depot). No job is too small to start with ( took crappy job with RGIS - worst place to work in the US). I give praises to God for the grace to find work, cos its really tough here in the US. I also thank my dear wife for all her efforts, she never gave up on me and she still has not. Even when I got tired of applying to monster, craigslist, indeed, ladders, beyond , just to mention a few....she never gave up and she kept applying for me behind my back. Her efforts and Gods grace brought me this far.

If u desperately need a job, go to snagajob, you will get retail jobs easily. Also be truthful in your search, dont inflate your resume. State what you can do and defend during interviews. Best of luck.

  9. Just to update you all. Went to the consulate with my brown envelope. It was opened by a staff at security point. After handing the envelope over, i was told damage was minimal, but then a complication arose. Docs were missing in the envelope. According to the consulate staff, copies of my birth cert, marriage cert and the whole medical was not included. I remembered during my interview, we were asked to open the medical envelopes before entering the premises. Officers verified my docs then i had my interview,i was approved and a week later i collected passport and envelope. I can swear i remembered a lady asking me for copies of my birth cert and marriage cert, which i handed over. As per the medicals, dont know what happened. Anyway, they collected my passport and told me to go get a new medical. Went back to the clinic where i had my medical and i requested for my medical records to be traced. I was told i might be able to get a copy tomorrow. I got home and went thru my stack of docs and guess what? There was my medical report in my personal file at hme. Now i am so confused, dont know what 2 do. I plan returning the report to the clinic. I am sure they must have handed the report back t me in error at d interview. So my question is, why did i get a visa with the brown envelope, without the 2 certs and medical. Miracles do happen they say.

  10. Hi Guys, I have a similar problem, only difference is that i aint freaking out and what got damaged was not the visa on the passport, but the big brown envelope handed out to me with the visa. Though it is unopened, the envelope got really wet when my house got flooded. I have emailed the Lagos consulate 3 times and i finally got a number that worked, so i spoke to an officer who said i can simply bring the envelope back to the embassy. Any advice would be welcome.
