We took our xray on cd in the sealed envelope to the interview, but they didn't seem to take any notice of it. I would take it just in case. Always better safe than sorry.

Husband did his medical exam and his XRay was given in a DVD in the same envelope as the report. We know we are not supposed to open the sealed envelope, but he is also not supposed to take the XRay to the interview. Or is he in this case?

I just check with my father and relative who took him Apollo City hospital for medical test. Apollo give them big seal cover which looks has X-Ray and it may have inside medical cover. I thought they give separate X-Ray and sealed envelope. So sealed envelope can be taken during interview. X-Ray can be kept home during interview and take when enter in POE.

Anyone knows.. can we open big cover and see sealed envelope there and just take sealed envelope during inteview.

Not true. I was unemployed at the time of filing our I-864 and I used assets instead. I didn't receive any such letter, my I-864 was accepted.

Now I got interview date. So

1> Send interview letter to parent to go for Medical test.

2> took Appointment for Medical Test.

3> Sending all documents like 2012 Tax (2011,2010,2009 sent with AOS),Sending again DS-230..etc just in case Mumbai Consulate ask again.

4> Created profile by logging on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in and arrange for the delivery of their passport

5> We already have PCC ready from local passport office (Ahemdabad)

6> What else require ? PLEASE ADD HERE....................................

I saw on your timeline that you had your "case completed again" at NVC once you became a citizen in December 2012? Do you mind sharing why you had to go through this extra step after upgrading your case at NVC, even though you had your files all ready to be sent to the consulate for an interview?

I'm having a hard time figuring out why there was such a long delay to setup an interview?

I believe that is their normal process. Once you send your request to upgrade your petition from F2A to IR/1, the status changes from 'case completed' to 'processing' and they will take their own sweet time to finish the upgrade process. Some are lucky it gets done quickly, some not. So, my advice is, if your PD is close to becoming current, do not bother to inform NVC about your becoming citizen. Just have the beneficiary inform the consulate at the time of the interview.

Also, the case file is not sent to the consulate until a visa number is available in case of F2A. So, my case was still with NVC at the time of upgrading. I hope that helps.

We got our interview date too, 04/02/2013 in Mumbai. F2A PD: 11/01/2010, Now IR/1

Only last night I was told our case was completed only on Feb 11th, blah blah and TODAY.. there is our interview letter in the mail.

I called and I was told our case wasn't complete until Feb11th. Last time when I called, they told me it was completed on Jan 13th. Anyway, no interview yet.

Mumbai consulate has updated their IL schedule if you are lucky one to be included. Call NVC.

I know India doesn't qualify for Diversity Lottery. Then, how come there are DV cases on the interview schedule? I think Mumbai consulate is so busy not only because of Indians, but also other nationalities in India.

The logic is that those who paid the NVC last year (2011) most likely are not JUST arriving after Feb 1st 2013. I mean that would be some pretty extreme rare circumstances. I'm sure a couple might have to do this but most of us really are in the $9 savings realm.

I agree with that. Ours was F2A case and paid IV fee in May 2011, case is still pending interview. I have no idea why they asked us to pay fees that early. I will call the authorities today for a definite answer.

That's not really what they're saying. The $165 fee is payable to everyone who gets a green card after February 1. There are no provisions for people who paid higher fees last year or before.

That doesn't sound fair to me.

Can't believe, out of all the other times it could have happened, its happening now when my pd is current. They only had 17 pages worth interviews in February as opposed to 33 the previous month and 22 in March. Surely they can have atleast 30

Well, there is some hope. VB usually gets released in the second week of the month, so we have another week, potentially.

I think they delay is only with Mumbai consulate, people are getting their interviews at Delhi consulate.

To be fair, up untill sometime last year the IV fee used to $404!!!!! then it was REDUCED TO $230. So effective Feb 1 this additional fee of $165 was added as GC issuance fee. By my calculation $230+ $165 = $395. we still come out better than the $404.

Honestly I am not complaining at all. The $9 saved will get me two cups of mango smoothie at Dunkin

I am using an investment property to prove support in my AOS, as I have no US income for the past 3 years. Can Iuse a realtor-provided comp, or a Zillow estimate, or county tax records?

I need to prove that the house is worth at least $56930 ($18310 x 3). It's worth about $105,000. The county tax records even have it at $66,000. Tax records are always known for being low.

I read on the AOS instructions that they want a recent report from an appriaser. Are they strict on this? Or could I use another method?

I used the tax records from the county. I also had other assets, so, I am not sure which ones they counted.

I had to use Travisa for an Indian visa. My memory is a little vague, but I know I was able to take care of the airbill at the shipping outlet. I believe this is something you can request that they print for you when you mail it (it's just details about the shipment). I shipped it via Fedex in one of their flat rate envelopes, and got them to prepare a second prepaid one from Travisa back to my address which I just folded and stuck into the first one. I didn't have any problems with this, got my passport back in ~ 2 weeks.

You have to fill in an application online first, at that stage you can specify how you are going to pay for the shipping. You can opt for them to ship it to you by including the shipping charges in the fee.

Getting an address proof in United States for your spouse shouldn't be difficult. You can add him in your US based checking/saving account. That should work as an address proof for him.

Try Etrade, as they possibly allow to open an IRA account using ITIN. Give a call, as they would able to give you more details.

I talked to one of the brokers and they need either DL/State issued ID/permanent resident card as ID. So, they above is not going to work anyway.

I wonder if anyone has done this before. They shouldn't be asking for a US ID in this situation, there should be a way to get around this. Will talk to a different broker and see what they say.
