  1. My Wife's Sister recently married a guy from the US in China. He is a complete deadbeat and has not even filed the initial application for CR-1 yet 5 months after marriage. He keeps making promises but fails to deliver. For comparison, I filed my Cr-1 4 days after getting back from China after my wedding, and the reason it took so long was because I came home on 12/29. My sister in law has asked him for a divorce and he will not cooperate. Is there any procedure in China for a divorce without the involvement of a MIA spouse?

  2. I am toying with the idea of going to GZO for my wife's interview. Originally I had hoped to get her here before new year's but we got delayed, etc. Anyway the date is now 12/12 for the interview. Can we get the visa quicker if we pick it up in GZO?

I could maybe swing taking vacation a little earlier and go to GZO and meet her. If I did that it would make more sense to fly us both back from GZO which we could do if we could get the visa there. Is this possible?

Update: Yes it is possible. My wife passed the interview on Thursday and picked up her visa the following Monday. It turned out that this was easier than arranging it to be sent to Xi'an because she lived in a town that is 3 hours away with no direct delivery service.

  3. it usually takes about a month for her to get the visa after passed interview. i dont recommend picking up because i have heard a few people here had terrible experience in picking up visa - major delays and fiasco. fyi, there is a strong association between pickup visa and major delays and massive spending.

It takes a month! I thought it was ~ 1 Week + shipping. These people are #######. I am so sick of these BS delays, especially when we lost 2 months due to mistakes made by them already.

Your timeline shows you getting it in 1 week. Though you also filed 3 weeks later than me and are done. We have been very, very unlucky.

  4. Bring all that was sent to NVC, to document intake day.

It's a side effect of using EP with NVC for a visa application headed to Guangzhou IV,

Guangzhou IV wants to see all on doc intake day.

Congrats on getting the appointment email !

She should print it out, as she'll need it for getting the medical done and getting into the IV Unit in Guangzhou.

I am glad I came back to read this. Damn misleading info. We will bring all and then some ;)

  5. i send my iv packet on 25 oct still no response ,just waiting

    Electronic or snail mail?

I sent mine electronically and it takes about 2 weeks to get a response. ~ 1 week for them to read the email it an send notification and another week, in my case, to tell us we were missing something which they actually lost. After that was straightened out it took another week after they approved the case to give us an interview date. That will depend strongly on which consulate you are applying through.

It doesn't hurt to call them. Well it does if you are low on minutes. Just note, the operators cannot do anything at all and may misinform you. ( one told me they only give out interview dates on the 15th of each month which is not true for China) Just get a status update, packet received case approved, etc. I have been getting through rather easily at ~ 7:00 AM Pacific. If I call during the day I usually am on hold for over 20 minutes.

  6. I posted the same question in the China board, but I will ask in this thread too. What is the quickest option to get the visa in hand? What is a safe time to expect a definite delivery of the visa by mail to Xi'an? Since this is so damn close to the holidays and my forced vacation, I want to maximize my time off available with my wife. I may travel to China and come back with her or try to get her here ASAP, but of course I want to plan ahead with the tickets because the price difference is pretty severe.

    One more question:

I recieved the email, this is the document list S means they have a scanned copy and need an original. F means N/A and Y means they have when they need. Do they not need the original police certificate? I ask this because I do not trust them. Both CIS and NVC "lost" a document so I am 0 for 2 in getting things through them without a mistake on their part. Can I tell my wife to bring the bolded documents listed below and have confidence that we will have fully completed this checklist?

  8. OK. So it looks like you can pick it up at some local PO in GZO. How much time, if any would that save compared to waiting for it to arrive in Xi'an? What is the quickest way to get the visa in hand. I am really trying to get my wife here at some time during the holidays and/or visit and return with her by the 1st.

  10. Rob wat is your pd? Thanks!

Priority date? Don't get me started on how long this has been ;). 1/05/12 ( 1 mistake at USCIS- lost evidence part of packet cost 3 weeks, another mistake at NVC, lost Marriage Certificate cost ~ 3 more weeks)

Good for you that you already got your interview date. :) May I ask when was your case completed in NVC? Thanks!

I am guessing last Friday they completed it after reviewing my service request and finding the lost Marriage certificate in the email with every other document.

  11. This is more of a hypothetical at this point, but it may come up in 1 year's time. My wife's sister went and found herself an American husband :). He doesn't seem to be financially stable and they may need a co-sponsor. If that is the case and my wife and I sponsor her sister, how private do we get to keep our financial information from him?

Can I send it in myself without so much as letting him know my income?

  12. I doubt that the Supervisory Review thing works. I think they are understaffed and I am pretty sure someone is working on responding to emails 24-7. I got a response at 3AM eastern. They told me on the phone that there were using extra help. Each response has had a name in the sig like below: I have seen the names Avery, Kira and Star.

I just got my IV reciept email. Everything has at east been receive now.

  13. it's supposed to get 'same day' review of the email.

OK - time for a tirade of phone calls into NVC, getting a supervisor. Patiently explain about Electronic Processing for Guangzhou, and raise a concern that you feel quite positive that the email you've sent is lost in their email system. Ask that the email be found, and that the files you attached be DETACHED and added to the SAFEFILE version of the casefile.

Nothing seems added to the casefile as of yet, so I cannot make any predictions for you.

  14. I agree with this. From my recent rexperience it takes 5-6 business days for NVC electronic to read your email and another 5+ days to process the content, but the optin email is processed when they read it, the optin part is ( the 5-6 days in my case was to review the ds3032 form which you will not have).

You could save a couple of days if you get lucky with electronic. I.e. send Optin today. Send Email containing Docs, tomorrow and every day thereafter just in case someone looks at that email before optin is accepted. They process in the order they recieved so they will get optin, process it then the next day they will process the ds260. The key thing here is you need to get lucky, and most do not get lucky with the NVC/DoS.

  15. I got the receipt email for the AoS late last night, It took 5+ business days. I am guessing they will send the receipt notice for the IV Friday or Monday. Since it came past midnight Pacific, it does appear that they have some late night contractors working on these cases.

    • Priority Date 1/5/2012 ( Noa1 1/9)
    • RFE 7/23/2012 - Recieved this when I turned my phone back on after flying home from China
    • RFE service request filed after receiving written RFE 07/31/2012 Operator noted that it was likely a mistake due to what was
    • RFE mailed in, included original application material plus new photos, visa copy, ticket stubs and a written plea to stop ###### with me - 8/3/2012
    • NOA2/RFE accepted 8/7/2012 (I am betting the service request helped as the turnaround was fast, 1 day fast if they received the RFE)
    • NVC Recieved Case: 8/16/2012
    • NVC generated GUZ number: 8/29/2012 (9 business days from receipt of case from USCIS to Generation of GUZ number)
    • NVC gave me invoice number over the phone but case was not ready 9/12/2012
    • NVC accepted case fully, sent invoice + ds3032 9/13/2012 (11 business days from GUZ number until invoiced for AOS)
    • NVC accepted Payment of AoS Bill 9/14/2012
    • NVC accepted OPTIN email which included the DS-3032 9/14 2012
    • I began "spamming" NVC with AoS / i -864 emails 9/17/2012
    • NVC accepted ds3032 with me as agent and emailed me IV invoice - 9/19/2012 (3 business days from Optin to ds 3032 final acceptance)[23 business days since NVC recieved case from USCIS
    • Sent another / i -864 email 9/19/2012 after acceptance of Ds3032
    • Payed IV invoice on 09/19/2012 ( it took about 1 hour to be payable after the email)
    • 9/24/12 - NVC sent email acknowledging receipt of Aos Package ( 5 business days after I sent it- it was in response to the 9/17 email)

  16. na, a bounce is a bounce - they do nothing on you, about it.

you can send multiple emails - restudy Ryan's topic now or nowish for the subject lines of the emails.

I hope to hell they don't lose my evidence again. I sent in a ton for the application then 1/2 a ton for the RFE. I was trying to include some in the email this morning, but it bounced. I am going to instead just prep my wife with neat evidence packets and practice the interview questions like we did this morning. She needs a little help with remembering the Months in English. I think right now I am more concerned with getting an interview date ASAP.

it's funny they respond to every email. Including an optin request I sent on 9/13 that they responded to this morning. They accepted my 9/6 optin last week on the 14th so they are about 6 business days behind in email response.

  17. I had some issues with the email today. My first attempt to mail my IV packet bounced back due to size limit. This in itself was odd because it said I was over (31457280) but I was under the 25 MB in gmail.

After that I cut it down to ~ 15 mb and sent it 2x but have not recieved an autoresponse. I sent a dummy email got the response, then sent the full email again and it got through. So it is there now, but a couple of emails were lost in the void.

So something was off for a few hours or maybe they banned me for that period.
