  2. Also, why can't he leave work a little early? Will they fire him? He's quitting the job anyway.

His bosses are total jerks and do things that aren't right. And he is quitting but we were advised by our lawyer for him to leave after our 2 year anniversary so we can try to get the 10 year green card. This means that he will be there for at least another month and would rather be making money the whole time before he flies over.

Ugh, I wish all this stuff wasn't so complicated.

Ring them up and ask what kind of arrangements can be made. Maybe he could arrange for delivery to the butcher shop for a fee.

That is a rather brilliant idea that I didn't even think about! You are seriously a life-saver Nich-Nick. I shall talk to him about this as soon as he is off of work. Thank you so much for your help again!

  4. Hello everyone,

I was wondering if you all could help me out again. My husband was interviewed last Friday and approved. The visa was issued Tuesday (also happened to be his birthday) and it has been at the courier since yesterday. However, my husband works as a butcher so he works until 5 and the only depot in Nottingham is an hour away from him.

My question is A.) How late is the depot open? and B) How long will they hold onto your stuff?

If they close at 5 everyday and are closed Sundays then my husband won't be able to get his visa till next week. :(

    Thanks for all the help!

  5. Yes, he can't set it up until he has his visa package in hand.

Thank you! We will do that as soon as he has his visa in hand. I see you are heading to the US tomorrow so I hope you have a safe flight.

  6. IR-1/CR-1 filers do NOT pay any fees at the embassy. You paid your fees already while at the NVC stage. He will have to set up an account with ELIS and pay $165 immigrant fee so that he can get his green card sent to him after he arrives.

Awesome, thank you for the quick reply. They had it in bold on his letter so we were confused since I thought that everything had been paid. Don't you have to wait till your visa is issued before you set up the ELIS account? At least that is what I have read. Again, thank you for your help.

  7. So my husband had his interview yesterday at the embassy in London and was approved as long as his medical results were fine. They had not received them yet so we are waiting on that.

My question is that on his letter, it stated that he had to pay a fee at his interview. Yet when he was there, he was never asked for any sort of payment. Is this because we went through NVC and it was paid there? We just want to make sure that nothing else can possibly hold the visa up and stop him from being in the US by September.

Thank you in advance for the help!

  8. I'm not sure what you could do to expedite at this stage but I do know that some consulates do expedite for pregnancy since the London embassy accepted our expedite which was for that reason. We provided a letter from my OB that stated my name, date of birth, that I was seeing them because I was pregnant, when I was due and that my husband was indeed the father. It was signed by my doctor and had the official letterhead of the OB/GYN group.

Not sure if it'll help much but I hope this information helps a bit. Good luck.

  9. My husband's interview was today at the Embassy in London and he was approved! Well as long as his medical is clear, which it should be. They hadn't received the results yet but told him that it would take two weeks after they received the results to print his visa and get it to him. I'm so glad we are almost done with this process!!! I hope everyone here waiting on visas or approvals gets them soon.

  11. Husband's medical exam was today. Bad timing since he has a summertime cold at the moment. The doctor said everything seemed fine except for some crackling that happens when he coughs but as long as the xray was clear then he should be fine and the xray tech said that everything looked fine so I'm praying that this means he has a clean medical exam and that this won't hold us back Friday. Thank you everyone who got me through my freak out late last week.

  12. I had another question and you seem so informative so I couldn't help but ask. My husband has been unable to get the MMR and Tdap shots because the Tescos in his area say that they can't do it, the Boots pharmacy in Nottingham that does immunizations doesn't have any appointments available and he can't get any more time off this week from his work besides having Tuesday and Friday off.

Since he will get these shots on Tuesday, will they still waive the second MMR shot or will we have to wait to get the second one for our visa to be printed as long as we are approved? I'm just not sure and worrying a bit. Plus I'm overly annoyed that he seems to be having such a hard time getting these shots. Thank you for your help!

  13. MMR is a series of two doses. The two doses can not be given closer together than 28 days (4 weeks). His medical exam will be before the 4 weeks are up. There is a waiver for "insufficient time interval" meaning they could not give him dose two because 4 weeks hadn't passed since his shot at Tesco. He never has to get dose two. It is waived.

Here's the immunization form. You will see the waiver codes at the bottom right of page one. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/thailand/591452/iv/ds3025.pdf

All the baby and kid shots will get the waiver for "not age appropriate",

If he hasn't called for his visa medical appointment, he needs to get on that. It's Friday afternoon and Knightsbridfe will be closing.

    Phone: 020 7486 7822 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

I thought I was remembering my nursing school stuff correctly about the MMR being a series shot. He has his medical scheduled for Tuesday at 9:10 AM, thankfully they were able to get him in. I had never seen that form before so thank you for sharing it. I will pass all of this on to my husband (as I have been throughout the day anyway).

Good to know about the second shot being waived. I hope and pray all goes well on Tuesday and Friday. Thank you, you are such a big help! :)

  14. You know how drug stores and some grocery stores in the US have mini-clinics that give immunizations? Same in the UK. Not sure what he has nearby but suggestions are Tesco, Boots, Sainsbury's, ASDA. Or the clinc that gives his visa medical will do it for a fee.

There are four adult shots required for immigration:

    Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis (Tdap)

    Mumps/measles/rubella (MMR)

Influenza--waived for reason "not flu season".

Varicella-- waived in UK for "not routinely available" or if he tells them he had chickenpox as a child. The UK does not immunize for varicella so the shot is not easily found. That's good for a waiver. And because they don't immunize, most kids get chickenpox which makes you immune. They take your word for having chickenpox. Also a waiver.

He does not have to prove any baby shots he had. He only has to prove the four required adult shots, or have a reason for waiver. Two of four fit the waiver category.

Awesome! He has a Tesco like right next to his work so that would work out wonderfully. He lives in Nottingham so he has a bit of trip in front of him for his medical and interview.

He had the chickenpox as a child so I'm glad that and the flu shot will be waived. He will need a second MMR shot though correct? Since it's a series shot or is the one booster sufficient?

Again, thank you so much for all the great info! I'm calm and that is a much better situation for my little one.

  15. Seeing this a day late. UK forum would have been a better place to ask this question. I hope you didn't postpone the interview.

It takes 3-4 days for Knightsbridge (London) to send the results to the embassy. If the results aren't there by the interview, they will hold the passport and wait for them to arrive, then issue the visa. The childhood shot record is not critical. Get a Tdap and MMR anywhere (GP, Tesco's, medical exam) and tell them you had chickenpox for the varicella waiver. That will do it.

I wasn't honestly sure where to put this but you are right, the UK forum probably would have been better. I haven't postponed my husband's interview since I actually heard from our lawyer who is on vacation. I think he felt bad for me. Anyway, he really only needs those? And any Tesco with a pharmacy can give him them? That's wonderful news! Thank you so much!!! You have no idea how much better I feel waking up to this. I greatly appreciate it.

  16. Thank you everyone for your responses. We have asked his mother and unfortunately she doesn't know where it is or if she has it anymore. Probably because he was originally born in Australia and moved to the UK when he was 11. I will definitely look into rescheduling or having him just get the shots he needs at the medical. Again, I really appreciate everyone's advice, it has helped me calm down a lot.

We are going to try and schedule everything tomorrow though I doubt he'll be able to go in tomorrow since London is quite a ways from Nottingham. Oh well, I can only pray that it will all work out and I will keep people posted as to the results.

  17. Today my husband just received an email from the London embassy that his interview is July 10th. We expedited our case due to me (USC) being pregnant with our first child who is due at the end of September. The problem with this is that he obviously doesn't have his medical scheduled yet and they are saying it takes close to two weeks for the results to be sent to the embassy. The other problem is that my husband's old doctor has managed to lose his shot record.

I have no idea what to do and I'm aware that they will deny the visa until the medical is received but is there anything else I should be worrying about? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

  18. Yes, staying positive is best. I'm not sure about them filing jointly, but my case is different obviously. Perhaps for a K-1 they can. Best to look at the guides on here and hopefully someone with more expertise and information will be able to answer that question for you. Having a letter that explains that you are a full time student and as such do not work and are the dependent of your parents would never hurt anything. It's just extra evidence and helps cover all your bases.

  19. No problem. Wish I could help more. We finally decided to use a lawyer because we have been working on getting my husband here for about three years, at first through a K-1 and now through an I-130. If your parents file jointly, I think there is a part on the paperwork that asks for the total household income so that would probably be where you could show their combined income.

I understand this being stressful. I'm currently trying desperately to get my husband here before the end of September since I'm due to give birth to our first child then. Just hope and pray it will all work and make sure to have your ducks in a row, that's all I can really offer.

  20. I had to use my parents as well as a cosponsor and we only used my step-father's income since he makes enough on his own. The lawyer I am using informed me that they only accept one cosponsor. You will have to fill out the papers as well for yourself. Does your father make enough on his own to cover the 125% over poverty level?

However, I cannot say for certain that this will be enough since I'm waiting on my interview date for my husband. I only hope that it is enough in my case as well. I'm also my parents dependent and from the same area so I hope this works for both of us.
