Marife lives in Pangasinan, I live just out of Waikiki on Oahu.
Please don't say another week
...when I called the Embassy yesterday they said it was completed the 25th so I'm hoping she receives it early next week and I can put her on a Saturday/Tuesday flight either (PhilAir or Hawaiian) the following week.
-
OMG finally! But when I try to track her passport # or MNL number it says "invalid"
Hoping for her to receive it this week so she can CFO Monday/Tues and fly to Hawaii Thursday...and I can be the happiest man on the planet

Congratulations fellow (soon to be) Hawaii resident!
Evidently our Hong Kong Clearance sat in the mailroom for two+ weeks so we are waiting for final approval and then 2Go.
I live on Oahu near Waikiki hopefully we can all meet up sometime (our wedding date is hopefully 11 Nov)
-
I got the invalid number...did you include the two letters at the beginning of the passport or just the number?
-
I think the embassy officially hates me...we had to wait for her HK police clearance (which took a month) and the embassy is still saying "in process" for the last three weeks
Congrats to everybody else though

We had the same problem, she needed a bank draft in HK$ and nobody in the Philippines would do it. I actually had to open an account at a bank here in Hawaii which would and then mail the check to her. (a $23 equivalent check that cost me $200 in total
)

This thread makes me a very sad panda
We had to wait for Hong Kong clearance and that was sent to the embassy two weeks ago...we were hoping that after that we only needed a few day wait but this post is making me think it may be a month or more

Update: I received an email yesterday from them (I had inquired via email twice before) that it was completed and sent Monday
Good luck, I think having your friend drop the package off and pay is your best bet. We were going to do that but my friend had to fly to the US during that time.
-
Last requirement from the US Embassy was her Police clearance from Hong Kong. That was approved and sent to the Embassy Monday
so now we just have to hope that the Embassy doesn't drag their feet and she gets her visa this week so it's only a quick trip to the CFO then a long plane flight to Hawaii...
Almost there...

IF you were there you could use octopus card (with balance of course), but otherwise you need a check. I think if you just send a copy of your NOA2 and a print out from the website showing police clearance required it (along with the fingerprints, application and check) you would be fine.
Good luck, it's another frustration added to all the ones you had to endure earlier.

When they say two ID's can her passport count as one? My fiancee only has passport and one other ID (no driver's license just 'postal ID'). Where is she supposed to get another ID?
-
We didn't get ours started until after the interview, and the Embassy gave us a letter stating they needed it then. Also getting a bank draft made out to Hong Kong dollars is extremely frustrating. I had to open an account at a specific bank here then mail it to my fiancee...then LBC refused to send a letter with a check inside. If you still know somebody trustworthy in HK it may be better to send your packet to them and transfer money.
They say it takes 3-4 weeks for the Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (CNCC) and so far we are in the fourth week and still waiting
Good luck!

My friend just came to Hawaii and from landing to her walking out the door was 1 1/2 hours. She was already married but was her first time here with a shiny new visa. I don't know if K-1 visa will be longer, but I wouldn't see why it should be too much.

Anybody have the issue with buying a ticket from the Philippines with a credit card if the card holder isn't flying? I keep getting told that my fiancee won't be able to fly unless the CC used to buy the ticket is hers and she has it on her when she checks in.
-
Why do you hate Hawaii so much? It's nice here :-)
-
I emailed them to ask for the status of my fiancee's clearance and the response was that they have received it and it's processing with a 3-4 week estimate after it's sent to them...
Another painful wait with no specific end in sight.
Good luck with your's perhaps when you go there in person it's much faster.

Mahalo for posting this. I sooooo can't wait until all of this BS is completed.
I think Marife will be able to write my memoirs after all this questioning
-
Welcome to the family, hopefully the only reason for denial was the lack of evidence and you just need to refile.
Your VJ siblings here will take care of you, they got us through it so far
-
Aloha nui loa! Welcome to (the other) paradise!
We have less rain here and it's not as hot as the Phlippines :-)
We even have Red Horse (Pacific Market in Waipahu) and two Jollibee now!
-
We are going to use Hawaiian Air, it's a great airline and it has direct flights to Hawaii...but then I live in Hawaii so that makes much more sense for us.
Good luck!

If you are still in the Philippines there is an agency in Angeles that helps with US visa issues. They may be able to help clear this problem up for you. It's called the Jim Boyd Foundation, they also assist ex-pats with their taxes etc.

Right now we are planning for my fiancee to take the seminar at the CFO office instead of PRISM or SM-COW because I'm hoping they will be less of a mentally abusive place. I agree 100% that people should be aware of possibilities, and have a way out in case of an emergency. I do not agree with some of the ways I have heard they present this.
Do bad things happen? Yes.
Do they happen to everybody and so you should give up on any chance of happiness and go back to the province where you belong and stop having these silly dreams of living with somebody that truly loves you? NO

Aloha and welcome to Hawaii! Marife flies here Thursday as well
I had a friend who recently arrive here that said they asked for her medical 'CD' and that some people were turned back because they didn't have it.
You should feel very comfortable in Waipahu, there are many Filipinos that live right in that area and Pacific Market (Philippine grocery store) plus Jolibee and Max's of Manila are there. I live near Waikiki but on the same island and only a few minutes away.
