We are about to file for AOS (K1 from Philippines) and need advice on whether we should also file AP and EAD documents as well at the same time. From the Immigration Timeline on VJ, it appears as though it is taking 2 or 3 months to get EAD and AP combo, but AOS/GC interview appears to be occurring about a month later, so should we save the money and not bother filing for the AP/EAD? She doesn't plan on working until at least the end of the year (It's May 2nd, 2012 now), and we don't intend on leaving the US for at least 18 months to go back to the Philippines for her brothers wedding.
Any thoughts? Will filing for the AP/EAD help us down the road somehow later?
