  1. Hi guys, my income was in the $20,000's last year when I filed tax return. Someone said I need 2 years of tax return showing I am making more then $20,000 a year. So, I only had that much income for one year but if I go overseas to live for a 2 years now, how will that effect the process of bringing wife from India? Mind you the $20,000 income only happened once so I still need to file for another year but if I am overseas I can't file for another year. Thanks for your help.

You should be fine, my income was about 20,000 as well for last year of work and wasn't making any money the years before that. I was fine, they should accepted it as long as you let them know.

  2. Hi All,

I will appreciate if anyone can help me find answers to some of my questions. I live in Texas, USA and following is the detail of my case:

    - Got married in April 2011 in Lahore

    - Came back to Texas and filed I 130 for my wife in March

    - Got a letter from USCIS on Nov 8, 2011 stating that my application has been approved and is being forwarded to NVC

    - The letter said that "The NVC will contact the person for whom you are petitioning (beneficiary) concerning furhter immigrant visa processing steps."

    My questions are:

    1. What is going to happen next?

    2. Do we have to fill in some new forms or something?

    3. What kind of information will be required for the next steps?

I am asking these questions so that i can prepare the necessary paperwork in advance, preventing any further delays. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    1. You will be assigned a case number the NVC.

    2. Yes, you will fill out a choice of agent form(you will receive from NVC), I-864(Affidavte of support), and DS-230(visa application). You can research more of each item on here to get more details about each form and how u can fill out.

  3. I was trying to bring my fiance from Ethiopia with a K-1 visa but denied a year ago, now I am planning to bring him with a marriage visa. I am going to Ethiopian this week to get married but I dont know which process I should follow, K-3 or, ICR-1. the other thing is since he was denied before in K-1 visa, is the process going to be possible or complicated? I dont have a clue which way to proceed, any help would be appreciated.

You should file for the CR-1, that's form I-130. And yes it will be a little complicated, you should let them know about the denial however .

  4. I'm in exactly the same situation as you. I was beginning to wonder how many yemenis transferred to Jordan (it felt as though I was the only one). I'm glad to see that's not the case. Anyway, I've also been told for a month to wait. I wonder if Yemenis who transferred to other countries are facing the same problem....

  5. I honestly can't tell you if e-mailing your congressman will be enough because it purely depends on what the person in his office does with it. The e-mail you got today from the embassy is ridiculous. Another two weeks my ####. I'm thinking of just returning to Yemen with my wife and waiting it out there, but the war is continuing on there. I think once it calms down (or even better Yemen is rid of Ali Saleh) we might go back. The hotels here in Jordan are expensive. Why does a burger meal here cost $6? Anyway, I don't know what to do besides e-mailing them. Try e-mailing the embassy in Sanaa too. Do you think if we went to the embassy to talk to someone about this it might make a difference? And are you in touch with any other Yemeni who is waiting like us?

Yes I"m in touch with one person and when I last talked to him he thought that it would take two more days and he is the one who tole me that if we don't resolve it then they will let it take it either way. How long have you been in here in Jordan? Have you been here since you singed the transfer request or did you go back to yemen then came back here for the interview?

As for me, I went back to yemen after signing the request back in august, thought it would be crazy to wait all this time. So I came back here a day before my interview thinking it was just going to take me two weeks. I was thinking about going back to Yemen as well, but I figured we will just wait more money going back and forth. This is real bullshit what they're doing to us. Inshallsh things will change soon.

Are you staying in hotels while you're here. It's much cheaper to rent an apartment for a month. much much cheaper. How much are u paying for your hotels?

  6. Here is the thing, I'm not the states currently. I decided to wait it out here in Amman. However I went online and found out who my congressman is and sent him an email explaining my situation. Is that good enough by email?

I got a response today from U.S. Embassy here and this is the answer I got

    "Dear Sir,

We are still working on the medical exam issue. Please e-mail us back after two weeks and we hope that this issue will be resolved by that time.

    Regards,

    Immigrant Visa Unit

    Consular Section

    American Embassy

    Amman - Jordan"

They don't seem very confident about the two weeks period. I'm sick and tried of the wait. This is not administrative processing for allah sake, their doctors are so incompetent that they need months to find a way to check for one substance in a human body. I say just keep emailing them more and let me know what your congressman gets from them. We need to pressure them as much as we can. I don't think I can afford to stay here for more months. People have lives and responsibilities you know.

  7. I e-mail the embassy in Amman the exact same e-mail the embassy in Sanaa sent me, and they just deny it saying that it hasn't been resolved. I think there is a way to test for qat using a urine test, but I'm not sure. One person told me that they look for amphetamine.

I contacted my congressmen to contact the embassy here in Amman for any update. I think you should do the same. We need to keep up the pressure or else I think they won't do anything about it (or they'll take all the time in the world). I too had the medical exam the last thing on my mind that would cause a delay!

Can you tell me more details on how I can contact my congressmen because I have never done that. I been just emailing the embassy in Sanaa and in Amman. But the more pressure the better. Did you also hear if they didn't get it resolved soon, they will let us test anyways? Do you think we're going to be waiting for days, weeks or months?

  8. Yes, very expensive! The last response I got from them was last week. I'm the petitioner. They keep telling me to wait until it is resolved. The weird thing is when I contact the US embassy in Sanaa, they say they've made "arrangements" with the embassy in Jordan and that this should be resolved now. Yet, the embassy here in Amman flatly denies this.

It really doesn't make much sense. Those who apply to visit America are not tested for qat, and a US citizen can obviously chew qat. Yet for some reason, an immigrant cannot. And as you said, there are diseases and drugs much much worse that you can easily find in America. Is this merely a way to keep out as many Arab immigrants as possible? I don't know.

You should let the embassy here know that U.S. Embassy in Sanaa is saying that. All we can do now is keep sending emails. Do you even know if there is a certain way to check for qat. I hear that they only ask a question and there is no specific test but not sure?

And I believe that is one way for them to try and keep as many Arabs from entering the country. I thought these medical tests were created to check for serious contagious diseases and not for qat.

Anyway, I've also been told for a month to wait. I wonder if Yemenis who transferred to other countries are facing the same problem....

We had our interview a day before yours. I had my medical exam scheduled for October eight then they called me and said they're not allowed to test Yemenis. I was afraid and thought AP was the only thing that was going to delay my case. Medical exam was the last thing on my mind. I think this is bullshit. I don't give a ###### if Qat is popular in Yemen. Heroin and crack is popular in other countries and I don't see them stopping their tests.lol. There were three other Yemenis with me on the day of my interview. When was the last thing they told u?

Are you the petitioner?? Have you emailed the embassy to ask them and did you get a response? I'm still waiting for them to email me back..waiting here in Jordan is expensive?

  10. Hello everyone, My wife(the beneficiary) just had her interview at U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan. She was told everything looked good, however she still needs to get my medical exam done.

My wife is a Citizen of Yemen, we were forced to transfer our case to Jordan since the U.S. Embassy in Yemen was closed because of the political turmoil.

There is one problem however with getting our medical exam done. The U.S. Embassy issued an order to all panel physicians to stop testing Yemenis since they don't have a way to test for Qat. That's something Yemeni males chew. My wife doesn't do that and she is pregnant. They tell us it shouldn't take long for them to resolve this issue, however it has been a month and nothing. She was told she would get her visa as soon as she gets her medical done.

Anyone with a similar experience or with any suggestions to my problem? Emails to the embassy have been ignored so far. I don't think it is fair for them to generalize all Yemenis, not all of them chew. I don't see them doing that to citizens from other countries.

  11. I'm from the U.S. and my husband and stepson are from Brazil. My husband and I married in the U.S. January 1st and soon after we came to Brazil. We have been in Brazil for over 7 months but I would like to return to the U.S. and I would like my husband and stepson to be able to return with me legally. I am preparing my documents to file petitions for K3 and K4 visas. I have read a lot of conflicting information online and we have a lot of questions. Is anyone familiar with this immigration process that can provide us some more helpful information? Someone mentioned to me that we should marry again here and live here an additional 6 months afterward and our process would be much easier. Is this really necessary?

I would strongly recommend going through CR1-CR2 routes. Both types visa nearly take the same amount of time. However with the CR1, he will get his greencard immediately some short time after arrival.
