  1. I believe it does speed it up, at least by a week or two. They need the info on the fingerprints (background check) to further process your case, so if you sit waiting for biometrics, then your file sits and wait too. However if your biometrics gets back to them early, then they can pick up your file again and get things going. I've noticed that approximately 1mth after biometrics you get an update on your EAD/AP or interview letter.. That includes walking in early or waiting till your date. So if your appt is scheduled for the 7th of Nov, and you wait till then to do it, expect to get a letter or case update on your case around Dec 7th. However if you walk in for biometrics on the 25th October, you'll get a notice/case update on the 25th Nov. This is all approximate dates. BUT with walking in, you stand nothing to lose, and time saved.

  2. I'm also an October filer.

I mailed my package off on Saturday (8th). On the 10th the USPS tracker updated a message saying notice left, package couldn't be delivered (3:55am October 10th). Which caused me to cry my entire Monday because there was an issue when I was sending off package. The USPS put a green card (signature confirmation) card on my document, scanned it and THEN explained what it was for. I told her I did not want that service as it was going to a P.O Box, so she didn't start the entire process over, she just took the card off. I left the post office feeling quite uneasy.

After bawling all day Monday, Tuesday morning I checked the tracking system again and it said "DELIVERED" at 10:55pm October 10th sooooo I was happy about that part but won't rest until I get a notification from INS saying they've received it.

Will keep you guys updated. I also want to wish everyone the very best of luck.

I'm in Alexandria, Virginia. Anyone in this forum who's from these parts?
