  2. you can request for you copy of naturalazaiton certificate no worries about that. i don't think thye are going to ask about your naturalazation certificate as passport is the proof of citizenship..cheers

Thanks Mr paudel. Yes I saw I can apply for it but unless I need it for my wife's visa I don't want to apply for it. Is it useful for anything else?

  3. Folks,

I lost my naturalization certificate while applying for US passport. I have the passport with me but not even a copy of naturalization certificate. My wife's interview call is on 7th Nov in Mumbai so wanted to check whether they ask for Naturalization certificate during interview or not? I have sent her a copy of my US passport.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks in advance. Cheers.

  5. I have completed my 12th from Mumbai and my bachelors from Pune.

After completing my bachelors, I went to USA for my Master's for 3 years, after which I got married and I am in India in Gujarat since last 1 1/2 year.

My I-130 has been approved and the invoice has been paid by my husband.

I called up NVC to ask and they said that I will have to collect the local PCC from all the cities i have lived in after 16 years of age except USA.

    Has anybody faced similar issue?

I understand that I will definitely have to collect local PCC from Anand in Gujarat where I live since last 1 1/2 year.

Will I have to collect the local PCC from all cities in Maharashtra as well where I lived after 16 years of age?

Please help me with your advice if anybody has gone through similar problem.

    Thanks

  6. NVC is seriously confusing.

your friends are right about notarized copy.

my brother's wife sent notarized true copy marriage certificate to NVC. They accepted that and her case completed on aug 13th 2012. She kept original for her upcoming interview.

My husband sent true copy marriage certificate to NVC without notarizing, they still accepted. But my cousin's wife sent true copy marriage certificate and they ask for certified copy (notarized true copy) or original marriage certificate.

Thanks deeee. So you are saying that notarized copy from a local notary will work? It has a seal of Govt of India notary.

Also, in case of your cousin's wife, how much did it delay the process as she had to send the original or certified copy later.

  7. Hello Friends,

I have a question regarding marriage certificate to be sent with DS230. I paid the IV bill yesterday and once it says paid I have to send the DS230 package but I have the notarized true copy of the marriage certificate and not the original. My wife has the original in India as she needs it for PCC etc.

When I called NVC they said that you can either send the original or a copy certified by the government agency that gives the marriage certificate. My wife checked in Mumbai to get certified copy but they said they do not issue it. They can only give duplicate copy but she has to file FIR etc for it which will take lot of time.

I spoke to few of my friends and they said they sent the notarized copy with DS230 and then took the original copy with them during interview. I'm confused. Please help as this is urgent.

    Thanks.

  8. If she has "BMBxxxxxxxxxx" case number so for Mumbai consulate you may skip PCC at NVC. They will complete your case with a checklist to bring PCC (issued by Passport Office only) at the time of your interview. No need to delay sending DS-230 for PCC specially for Mumbai consulate applicants.

    sunshine_84,

Are you 100% sure that we can skip PCC at NVC and then my wife can take it during the interview. I just paid my AOS bill today and will have to send the DS-230 soon so please let me know. She has Mumbai consulate. Thanks.

  9. I received my NVC case number today and have emailed the Choice of agent form to NVC.

I live in Gujarat after marriage but my passport has been issued from Mumbai passport office and I have not got the address changed on passport.

Can somebody tell me that when they ask for the police clearance certificate from local passport office, would that mean, I will have to get my police clearance certificate from mumbai passport office as my passport was issued from there?

Also, can I get the police clearance certificate at this point?

I would appreciate your response for my question.

  10. I have my I-130 approved and awaiting NVC's case number.

I lived in New York for 3 years on F1 visa.

After that I lived in mumbai for 4 months and then moved to Gujarat (a different state) since last 1 1/2 year.

I will have to get the police clearance certificates from both district police station and the local area passport office.

So, does that mean that I have to get the police certificate from district police station of Gujarat as well as from Mumbai's local area passport office (as the place of issue of my passport is Mumbai) ?

  11. I got my NOA2 on Monday and called NVC today. They said they received the it and asked to give atleast 1 more week before calling again. I hope they generate the case # soon so that we can send the choice to agent email and get the ball rolling. With no automated system now I can't call everyday and check the status and I have to wait 5 mins or more for the representative.

  12. I just got an email that it is approved.... :) I'm so happy.... Thanks for the help and support guys....

Now will have to wait for case # to be assigned right?
