  1. Hi execoh:

I was not aware that you could pick your own oath date. The IO said it will most likely be in April in Dayton.

    Good luck!

Hi sxm..I am also from Cincinnati and currently in January 2016 filers..I am glad to see your interviiew went well and you are approved..I have heard you can pick your oath ceremony date after the interview, is this true? Did they give you any idea when will the oath ceremony be? I would appreciate any feedback you can provide.

  2. I had my interview today and application was approved. :dancing:

The IO was very nice, asked to see GC, passport and took the traffic ticket payment proof. I remember 5 out of the 6 questions:

    - Name 2 US holidays

    - Who was the First President

    - Who is the governor of our state

    - What movement tried to end racial discrimination

    - Where is the Statue of Liberty

Thanks to everyone for all your help and good luck to those waiting!

  3. My interview is tomorrow and this is what i am bringing. I am filing on the basis of the 3 year rule. Technically I could have filed in August '14 but didn't get around to doing it until Dec '15.

Please let me know if I am missing anything:

    - Appointment letter

    - Biometrics letter

    - Green card

    - My passport(s) and SSN card

    - Spouse birth certificate

    - Spouse passport

    - Child birth certificate

    - Marriage certificate

    - Proof of traffic ticket payments and driving record abstract

    - Tax returns for 2012, 2013 and 2014

    - Deed to our house with both names

    - Bank statements with both names

    - Home insurance policy with both names

    - Account statement from daycare with both names

    Thanks!

  4. So you were able to bring your cell phone into the building? I would like to but will leave it in the car if its going to be a hassle at security.

There were a few other people in the waiting area, maybe... seven or eight other people? A surprising amount of people with their lawyers present. My inner Mustachian cringes at the waste of money, but who knows, maybe their cases were more complicated. Yes, the waiting area is the area with the windows (and the TVs that were all off, so bring a book) but the interview was done at the IO's office. Nobody seems to respect the "don't use your cell phone here" signs.

  5. Congrats Spoom! Getting a little nervous about mine on Friday.

Approved! Just have to wait for the oath ceremony notice, no same days in Cleveland. (And I'm actually back at work, they let me just go to the interview without charging me any PTO.)

Interview was very quick, I gave the IO a new sheet of trips outside the US including one I made to visit my parents at Christmas. 6/6 on the civics test. They wanted my green card, driver's license, and passport, and they did read through the proofs of payment for my traffic tickets but she probably would have been just fine without them. She didn't ask for my marriage certificate or even for my tax transcripts. No troubles at all.

  6. Good luck Spoom!

I have mine in Cincinnati on Friday and don't have nearly as many documents as you are bringing! Still trying to chase some stuff down.

I am filing under the 3-year rule.

I will be curious to know your interview goes.

When you say birth certificate, do you mean yours?

    (Crossposted from Naturalization General)

    Hi folks,

I have a naturalization interview on Monday in Cleveland, and I'd very much appreciate a quick check of the items I have ready for the interview. I'm filing under the five year rule. Some of these things might be superfluous but I like being prepared.

    • Interview Notice
    • N-400 copy with all attachments and copies
    • Marriage certificate (original copy signed by pastor)
    • Selective Service registration (copy and original)
    • Biometrics notice, stamped by Cleveland ASC
    • Proof of payment for traffic tickets and court dispositions where available
    • Certified Ohio driver's license abstract
    • IRS tax return and account transcripts, TY2010 through TY2014 (have not yet filed TY2015)
    • All USCIS notices, petition through naturalization, including previous conditional green card
    • Birth certificate
    • All Passports (previous expired Canadian passport with K-1 visa and current Canadian passport)
    • Ohio driver's license, green card (in my wallet)

I've studied the civics questions, of course, and my wife is testing me on them through the weekend.

Can you think of anything else I should take with me?

Edit: It's in a nice binder like the one I had for my embassy interview in Montreal. FWIW, they said I was the most organized visa applicant they'd seen in a while :)

  7. No updates on My USCIS yet, but that's probably a bit optimistic. ;) I would imagine being put in line would be an automated process though, assuming the FBI checks come back clean, which should also be an automated process.

But then, we're dealing with the government, so all bets are off.

Lol I have also checked My USCIS ^_^ No update, as expected.

  8. It shouldn't matter that you said no on the application, you can bring it up at the interview. Honestly, I think the best thing to do is this: when the interviewer gets to the citation question and asks if you've ever been arrested, cited, etc., then you can just say that you've never been arrested or cited except for traffic tickets. That way you've answered perfectly honestly. The interviewer can then decide if he wants to know more. If you've got proof that you paid the ticket or if it's easy to get, then take it with you.

Thanks for the advice Jimmy. I think i am going to try to get a copy of my driving record from the DMV as well as a copy of the record from the court. I think it was for $120 or something like that.
