Hello..To my fellow muslimah, is it ok if my fiance will file k1 visa for me? Im a muslim in Phils. and nextyear inshaAllah me and my fiance will have our engagement then he will file after that, but aside from having our engagement,we will have also our nikai,its a legal religious islamic traditions that we should do b4 we live together. its a traditional wedding..is it not a problem for our k1 filing? help..hve some advise there VJ muslim members

Asalamualaikum,
For the K1 visa, you cannot have any form of marriage ceremony, even if it is simply religious. If they find out, you will not be able to get the K1 visa. You will have to wait until you get to America for the nikai. Once you get approved and do POE, you can go to a local mosque immediately for the ceremony if you wish to have it before you live together.

so,we cannot have our traditional wedding? they will really ask me for that if we do some ceremony? if they know,what will be our penalty for that? and if we cannot do it,we cannot live together until my fiance visa will be approved,inshaAllah then have our marriage in USA then return back to Philippines for our traditional wedding? need some clarification bcoz til now i am confusing...thank u

we'll just do our engagement instead,no more any religious traditions? but what he knows is US is not particular of that as long as you never both sign any contract that binds us both,we just need the blessings of my parents then will wait for the fiance visa to be approved inshaAllah... any help from VJ members? thank u
