  1. Hello all, yesterday embassy called and said that my visa waiver has been approved and I am to come and collect this thursday walk with passport and a letter that was given. I'd like to know when I go would they give me the visa and would I be able to book a flight after I'm given the visa? I'm thankful and grateful I was beginning to go crazy :D

Congratulations again hun! I hope you get the visa right away but I'm not sure how this thing works hopfully it won't be much longer... I know you just want to run to the airport as fast as you can even without luggage ha ha ha ha.

Best of luck to you and your husband.

  2. I tend to think that the CO's opinion carries very little weight. It *could* matter only slightly if there is a 212 waiver involved. I say this since its approval is based mostly on discretionary factors whereas the 601 is based on hardship. Often times, COs are very shaky with knowledge about inadmissibilities and its surrounding caselaw. The adjudicator with DHS generally knows caselaw very well and has their own standard of what constitutes extreme hardship. I wouldn't put too much weight on what the CO says. They make the relationship validity and initial inadmissibility determination and DHS handles the rest.

Thank you so much for the info- very informative! It's just a shame that people have to be mentally ill or on the brink of death to get an approval IMHO!

  3. I actually wonder myself how much weight the CO has with USCIS, but I'm sure that the CO's opinion carries some weight. I remember once I actually found the procedure online (once) how the info is passed on and how it's used, but I haven't been able to find it again. Don't worry though either way. I think USCIS knows what to look for. I'm curious... why do you ask?

I myself was doing some reading and like you (once) I came across a blog and in it they said that you could ask the CO for a recommendation so I was wondering if it were true or not and has it ever been done.
